QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 07:24 PM) It is all over twitter. (It was a new thread with no source in it, I just merged them and found lots of sources).
-
Not doubting, just asking for a source to check for more details?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 07:20 PM) Are you saying 'Gulp" to the Angels 3 starters? If so, Santana has an ERA of nearly 6.00 and Haren has been having back issues and has not been himself this year. And we skip Weaver.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 07:10 PM) We need a little bit more than just a guy who can hit a jumper when Rose collapses the defense. We need a legit star. If one is available (and Love seems like the only even remotely possible option right now unless Howard changes his mind on liking Chicago) then of course we'd go for that. I can't see how we can throw up our hands otherwise though. With Rose and Thibs, the Bulls will be a 40-50 win team if Rose stays healthy, and that isn't getting at top pick until 2016 if the Bobcats stay bad.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 05:30 PM) This is the crux of where we disagree. Do we really want to continue to be the type of team that needs Rose to take all the tough shots and initiate our offense to the degree he has been? I'm arguing no, that it will be more beneficial to us to have Rose take less shots and have a lower USG. Less responsibilities. Less weight on his back. I mean Carlos Boozer has a higher USG than James Harden and he's efficient as well. But its not all aobut scoring efficiency, you have to look at the total player. If he's back to 100%, I want the ball starting off in Rose's hand as much as possible. What I don't want is for Rose to have to penetrate past 4 Heat defenders because they don't respect anyone else, either on the drive or on the open shot.

QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 02:03 PM) So, you do realize there's a baseball package that can be purchased and you can watch ALL the games right? Haha which is why I got Sunday night's Red Sox/Yankees game. Because I purchased the package to watch all the games, and MLB would like to remind everyone that as fans of this game, we're unimportant peons.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 05:04 PM) I figured he'd be too cheap to can Ozzie. Loria hangs around the locker room so much I'm sure Ozzie already is realizing how much better he had it in Chicago. Here, Jerry rarely shows up to voice his displeasure from what I can ascertain and KW also stayed away from Ozz. In Miami, those team execs seem to talk with him a lot judging from the Franchise. Good lesson again in the grass not always being greener somewhere else. Loria was pissed in the one clip when Heath Bell blew that game with a three run lead. He yelled from his seat, 'Get him out of there.' And Loria's seat is mighty close to Oz's perch in the dugout. The grass may not be greener, but the dollar bills are equally green, and that's the important thing.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:58 PM) Just a little conversation about where he'll end up next. I think he'll complete his four year deal with Miami. Loria does seem a bit insane though. Loria does have something of a history of discarding managers, although none of them had Ozzie type money to be rid of. They dumped Girardi after he won the manager of the year award right?

I'd join the riot and make the effigy of the GM that hired him.

Morel to start rehab stint with Bristol
Balta1701 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:50 PM) Kind of betting that if and when Morel is ready to come back the Oh-Dawg is released No, Orlando backs up the middle infield. If Morel is ready to come back before the end of August they'll burn a minor league option and keep him down there. Until his rehab stint time runs out though, there's no reason to burn the option, just in case someone gets hurt and a spot where he's useful opens up. -
@KCJHoop After Nate Robinson signing, Bulls are either done or might add Tracy McGrady.

2012 Summer Olympics Thread
Balta1701 replied to LittleHurt05's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:25 PM) I do, but when the rules of this thread were specifically to use spoilers until the event airs live, I would assume that everyone can follow a simple request. Its just like using spoilers for a TV show for the first 24 hours, its a courtesy to other readers. As I said, Im not going to ESPN, Im not going to Yahoo. If this thread was filled with spoilers, i wouldnt come here either. That being said, the US Olympic feed just sent out a spoiler, at minimum youd think theyd be on the same page with NBC. I started following this thread after 5 pages were filled. My bad. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:10 PM) Do you guys/gals sense that because of our injuries and dead arm of Sale we are destined to play in the one game Wild Card playoff? I think that is the Sox destiny this season. I'd take it and I'll take any of the Sox's starters against whoever the Angels/Rangers have to put out there. It'll at least be a good fight.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 10:21 AM) You see a flash in the middle of Javier Bardem as Silva Care for the 2:33 version:?

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:17 PM) Anyone have any read on level of these prospects, Cubs were shooting for moon (and got it with Delgado) with Braves and LAD. BA had Villanueva as the Rangers #9 prospect coming into the year.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) I don't think you've ever actually seen Monta Ellis play. He doesn't even try on defense and he takes a lot of horrible shots. Ever since he decided he can shoot, his TS% has been below average to horrible. A lot of guys would put up points if they shot 20 times a game, but most guys have a conscience. He's a REALLY good driver, but the rest of his game kills any benefit you derive from it. My Q with him is "how much of this is because of where he's been stuck playing".

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) Plus we have all the waiver moves in August. That's when Soriano will move, in all likelihood. I'd still call it incredibly unlikely.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:01 PM) It's not over. I'd guess we will hear they were working on something huge that was very complicated and they just couldn't get it done in time, but there might be something still. I'm guessing the last hour or two was quiet for them actually, that he had already tried everything with a real shot at getting done a few days ago.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 03:59 PM) The Royals made a smart personnel decision on the major league level??? That's why I had to note it.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 03:53 PM) If they offer him a high end deal (has to be top 150 in baseball, or top 100 or something), and he turns them down, the Cubs get picks. That'd be a ton of money to offer him, and he'd probably accept.

2012 Summer Olympics Thread

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 03:49 PM) Ive had to avoid every news source all day (yahoo, espn, etc). Its getting pretty annoying. And that in a nutshell is a great reason why we can complain about the tape delay. Can't talk about things for hours. -
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 03:30 PM) on mlbtraderumors via Rosenthal. No word yet on the return. So the Royals spent money on him last offseason and wound up with a valuable trade piece out of it? That seems like effective GM work.

2012 Summer Olympics Thread
Balta1701 replied to LittleHurt05's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) I thought this thread was going to use spoiler tags until event is aired prime time. Frustrating. My bad. Didn't say where he placed, although it's front page at espn right now. -
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 03:27 PM) I'm not sure a SG will be the answer to the Bulls problems. The SG position sucks right now, would much rather re-structure with a more offensively gifted SF or PF that has a different skillset than boozer and can play better D than to make some super backcourt. I'd say the one superstar that hasn't made his move yet that would put the bulls at the top would be Love. He signed a contract but already is discontent with the roster moves. If there's anything Kahn loves, it's assets to acquire to do nothing with. We just need love to get very whiney and say he wants Chicago. Otherwise he'll probably end up on the lakers in 2 years. And honestly, in a year or two, the Bulls would be in a position to make that happen if Love demanded a trade. Deng and Boozer would close in on expiring, the Bobcats pick would become closer to reality. Shame that Love can't hatch a scheme with Rose at the Olympics to get himself to Chicago.
