  1. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 12:25 PM) Yes. Like a left-handed version of Floyd. Except Gavin Floyd has not put up an ERA above 4.37 since 2007, whereas Liriano has had an ERA over 5 for three of the last four seasons. And that's with Floyd pitching in the Cell. This ought to tell you something about how much worse Liriano has been than Floyd. And it's a great illustration of why I'm skeptical of the "Sign Liriano" movement.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 10:43 AM) Im pretty sure he redid the field. But i think it is like Wrigley in that he can only do so much because of how old the plumbing is. IIRC Wrigley had extremely narrow drain pipes under the field that could not be ripped out, so he had to install multiple drain tanks throughout the field in order to hold excess water and drain it in a timely fashion. But once those tanks get full in a large storm, it still backfills onto the field. The puddle in front of me on the OF warning track didn't disappear until the middle of the game after a rainy afternoon.
  3. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 10:32 AM) Definitely. I'd be very open to re-signing Liriano to a 2 or 3 year deal. Gives us a guy who can eat some innings and a solid vet in the rotation. Plus, we can get the occasional lights out performance that he's capable of. Would you give a guy with an ERA > 5 for 3 of the last 4 seasons a 3/$30 contract? What money are we talking here?
  4. Not sure that anyone pointed these out. TJS for Neftali Feliz. Might be a cautionary tale for taking a guy in the bullpen and putting him in the rotation. Selig reiterates that he'll retire at the end of 2014.
  5. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:15 PM) Mixed feelings, Kenny flat out said we can expect more moves, I think he just couldn't put anything together. I'm not overlooking Youkilis, but Liriano better be on point. So, Kenny said "We can expect more moves" and you didn't take that as a sign that "We're done making moves"?
  6. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 11:57 PM) I said he showed a little bit of it. Am I the only one who remembers what we looked like when everyone was healthy? Rose and Rip worked pretty well with eachother, Derrick was trying to figure out how to play with him. He'd hang back at the 3pt line and just toss the ball to Rip and let him work. The passing between Rip/Noah/Boozer was beautiful Go ahead and "give up" and call me delusional, I know what I know and I saw what I saw. Pretty much yeah. We saw what, 1/4 of a game of that last season?
  7. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:18 PM) Bulls***, Rmoney (or whoever has an ® behind their name) would be defined negatively and the Obama campaign is in control of the narrative no matter what because the media is so f***ing in the tank for RockStarObama it does't matter. Oh... nevermind, they are just reporting "news". GMAFB.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) Did the Sox do an MRI/physical on Danks prior to giving him the extension? Oh and remember, he's had MRI on this shoulder without showing what the problem is.
  9. Yes, that's right you have to keep Dunn close.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) Run for Dunn?? On the road I think I play for the tie.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) Did the Sox do an MRI/physical on Danks prior to giving him the extension? Don't know about MRI, but yes to the standard post holiday physical.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:53 PM) Sox do not answer the bell after opponent scores on the road. Doh.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) Gotta get someone up in the pen, you can't let him walk the world Humber was throwing a moment ago.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:40 PM) Now Liriano knows how it's been the least decade vs this team. And now we see what it's been like to have Liriano on the staff.
  15. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) Man, AJ is terrible at throwing runners out. You can run all day on him. Throw to 2nd was actually there on time alexei just missed the swipe.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:38 PM) There's a "bloop" 2 steals and a walk.
  17. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 08:54 PM) I gotta imagine we shouldn't count of Danks being anything close to 100% until at least mid-2013. Depends on the surgery, read pt's posts a couple pages ago.
  18. Well I'm happy to see that so far we have the good Liriano. And now the Twins have to deal with it.
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 07:28 PM) Nah, I'm thrilled with how the season is going so far, but we have so many question marks, I'm gulping at the next two months overall. I'm not sure about 6 man rotation period, those aren't too popular, they would be if they worked. I guess I'll just take it one game at a time. Honestly, I'm not nervous one bit. Team's played head and shoulders above where I thought they'd be, the guys who looked unsalvageable have all produced, and we got a pennant race to be in. Heckuva lot better than where we were the last couple years in August, which was starting to look like no one cared and limping to the finish. And with how the young guys have played/pitched this year, there's a whole lot to build on going forward as contracts start to clear.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 07:28 PM) So I can tell people on Soxtalk how bad they suck if they have a facebook page? (I will await LF's reply...)
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) You should add the rule to the thread title so people know the rule without reading through the thread. Done and good suggestion.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 07:25 PM) No joke. What about being a professional athlete means people are entitled to follow you around and act like a jerk? Having a public facebook page?
