  1. Had a drunken friend who attempted to coat the entire inside surface of a Denny's bathroom with vomit.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 11:01 PM) I could care less how scared they are. Reality is still that the money will be there, it won't have a long term negative effect on overall investment levels. But if they can say there are, they can prevent that rule from passing! (BTW, I like the concept of that rule but the way it is structured in the proposed law is silly).
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 12:04 AM) I love living in a progressive state. Time for you to get divorced. And AIDS, according to one of my State Rep's.
  4. QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 10:49 PM) by the time Gingrich is done destroying Romney, Obama's work will have been done for him, and yes, he will win in a landslide. Really, did the Hillary/Obama race stretching until May, and that awful 6 weeks of "Obama can't bowl he's unamariecan!" during the pre-Pennsylvania gap really cost the Democrats last time? Everything starts anew around convention time.
  5. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 08:42 PM) The Sox are NOT gonna sign all three. C'mon guys. Cespedes alone could possibly sign for $40M + Worth thinking about...usually when KW is crying poor the loudest he's just about to make some splash.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 07:18 AM) I read last year the typical DR prospect takes 8 years to develop. We're what, just about 4-5 years since the Wilder fiasco broke? So that means the guys who we might have signed at that time would have been single to double A level now? Thus, our system is getting judged poorly based on comparison with the Wilder class right now.
  7. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 08:48 PM) You have to take into account the regression factor for other players as well, -although I think the Tigers will lead the league in roster regression this season. For the Sox, the reality is...about the only guy who might be expected to regress is paulie. No other veterans had decent years.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 06:02 PM) Fair enough, I guess I am saying that I am used to the conservative nature and won't be broken hearted if it doesn't happen I'm trying to say that the "Doesn't happen" part is very unlikely to be due to the Bulls FO being conservative.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 05:45 PM) I am really not worried about it. If it happens, awesome, I would be ecstatic. If it doesnt, hey, I am used to the Bulls FO being conservative and believing(too much) that what they have is good enough to win a Championship. I have a hard time believing that the Bulls FO would be conservative on any of these deal concepts if it meant they could get Howard without giving up Rose. What they would be conservative on is making that deal without knowing that they can extend Howard. And, there's plenty of reasons to think that these written deals don't work for the magic; all of them have the Magic taking on a ton of extra salary.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:26 PM) Yeah, I guess...the Kardashians, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Jerry O'Connell, Cameron Diaz, and on and on and on...and yet there are only 22,000 people or so there. Maybe you'd bump into them at the Starbucks It's right on the edge of the Santa Monica mountains (aka the Hollywood hills), which runs East-West away from the L.A. Basin on the Coast. If you go across the mountain range from there, you hit Malibu. The fancy people's houses are usually somewhere up in the hills, which are much more open (and have better views) than the areas down in the valleys. I wouldn't be surprised if the "calabasas" area encompasses a decent chunk of mountains to include their residences. But running into people in Starbucks is certainly plausible, it definitely happens on the Malibu side of the hills.
  11. Selig hasn't yet figured out how to make the extra wild card schedule work.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 05:10 PM) This could really go in either thread: Now We Know Who’s Giving to Super PACs At this point in the game though, the Republican SuperPAC's are pouring in and racing through money. It's hard to say what the left-leaning-SuperPAC's will wind up doing come August and September...there's virtually no benefit to giving to those now, because some portion of those contributions could be disclosed before the election if the money were raised now. The Republicans currently have a SuperPAC advantage, but at least this time, Obama seems to have backed off the call to shut down outside organizations that he ran under in 2008 (almost certainly because of the new Citizens United fully open field).
  13. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:58 PM) I think the only person who can beat Obama is Hillary and that goes for people in both parties. Except for the fact that she already had her shot?
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:53 PM) Are candidates allowed to run against an incumbent president in a primary? I'm surprised there's no Democratic candidates opposing the Prez. I think the same thing happened to Sir Bush in 2004. Yes, but it's very difficult and somewhat rare. The last real major one I can recall was Ted Kennedy running against Jimmy Carter in 1980. And to be somewhat coarse...no Democrat anywhere is going to risk alienating the key, um, racial demographic that voted so overwhelmingly for Obama by being the guy who tried to beat Obama.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:39 PM) Huh? I was just saying that I was happy with Santos' parting gift, which was a higher draft spot. Oops, i misread.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) One of the reasons it seems college basketball sucks the last few years, in my opinion, is due to Kentucky signing so many of the top recruits. Thus, you basically have a revolving door with that program instead of the top recruits being spread throughout the country. Since so many of those guys are one-and-gones though, does that really hit the rest of the sport?
  17. QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:37 PM) boozer is scoring 15.1 ppg this year in 30.8 min while putting up 13 shots per game gibson is scoring 6.9 ppg this year in 19.3 min while putting up 5.6 shots per game Give gibson the minutes per game and the shots that boozer gets, and I'm not sure the bolded is true. Is boozer the better offensive player? yes likely, but i dont think its as enormous as the difference in the two players defensively, and the enormous difference in the $$$ Really though, what they're doing right now doesn't matter, the only thing that would matter is what they would do in a hypothetical role of playing the 2nd big man alongside Howard (a role that Howard has traditionally had filled by 3 point shooters). About the only argument for Boozer is that he's probably a better shooter away from the rim than Taj is, but either way, neither of these guys would be getting a lot of shots with both Rose and Howard on the team, and neither of them would be occupying space anywhere near the rim.
  18. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:37 PM) That would leave us with Lucas as the only back up guard. If Rose goes down, we'd be screwed. I'd imagine that spot could be filled rapidly via someone who is released/bought out elsewhere, or through some other trade if we were really desperate.
  19. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:31 PM) We had this exact conversation a couple of months ago. And I posted a bunch of endorsements by people that I didn't think mattered, but obviously no one noticed that.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:27 PM) That reminds me, still cracks my s*** up that some of the more whacko far-right folks think Sesame Street is some sort of liberal brain-washing operation. The extremes in either party will always be crazy, the only difference right now is, the GOP seems to be allowing that part of the crowd to dictate terms. the Dems might be doing it too if they were having an actual primary race. The real argument against this is that Mittens is currently ahead.
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:26 PM) What is more needed next to Howard? Clearing out Boozer's contract.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) Not that everyone doesn't know it, but it just baffles me that we teach our children to play nice Until we cut them from their softball team at age 7.
  23. Too cheap to meter. I'm a big fan of this part.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 1, 2012 -> 04:18 PM) But man oh man did him and Sale combine on a great blown save to end the season. Except for the first 2 months of the year, when Sale couldn't find a reliable release point.
