  1. Ok, I'd like to note that I'm not in favor of significant import tariffs as a response to an economic collapse. See guys, I do have my limits.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 11:46 AM) The problem is that even a judge won't hear all of these facts because the only person in front of him/her explaining what happened is the attorney for the bank. Obviously the son had every right to be there and explain the situation, and I have no doubt that any judge in cook county would have looked at the attorney for the bank and said "seriously?" and continued the matter for a few months so that a deal could be worked out. But, the son is an idiot, and ignored the notices. I dunno what else the bank is obligated to do in that scenario. Foreclosure and eviction is incredibly pro-tenant, so it's not like he was given 2 seconds to find alternate housing. He was given months and months of notice, multiple opportunities to stay the foreclosure in the court system, but didn't. The obvious question then is...should there be no safeguards for a case like this?
  3. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) Anyone of them could be Obama. Correct. They are all black socialist Muslims.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 09:31 PM) Flowers, despite his seemingly endless slump, is still only percentage points behind AJ in OPS. If the dude could just hit .240, we'd really have something. Give him time, he can get back to that range.
  5. Joe Crede has put on weight.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 08:56 PM) I'd say Alex Gordon has CPOTY wrapped up. Tremendous season for him. Michael Morse would have to be the NL favorite. How is that a comeback?
  7. G seems to have the good curve working here
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) I'll take whatever I can get. I've trashed Morel for the last couple months. He's been pretty good since the break. I hope it continues. As bleak as things look right now, there are some bright spots. Morel, Viciedo, De Aza, Sale and Reed. But Ozzie has to f***ing go. If not Ozzie then KW. Or at the very least Walker. We cannot come back with this same coaching/management team. Like I said earlier today...worst babip in the league 4 years in a row (and not in Oakland) is about the biggest hitting coach indictment I can think of.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 08:13 PM) I'm actually excited about this game. Viciedo, Flowers, De Aza and Brent Longoria errr Morel are all in the lineup. And worst-case scenario we get shut-down by the no-doubt-about-it- best pitcher in baseball for 2011.
  10. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 06:34 PM) It would be a disaster for the Bears to let Matt Forte walk in free agency. I'm not gonna spend much time thinking about it while theyre playing football, but he has to be priority #1 in the offseason. The RB franchise tag is ~$10 million.
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 06:31 PM) If I was the GM of the Bears I would up the offer to $18 million guaranteed (this is a lot of money relative to most other running backs), but no more than that. Any more and his cap number starts to make you wince, and the Bears have several guys on one-year deals and have other expiring contracts e.g. Chris Harris. And he, quite frankly, hasn't performed at the level of those guys to date... I think this is the year he will finally make a Pro Bowl, but still, he's not Chris Johnson. I think that the amount they offered him was fair for when they offered him. If he wants to push a $20 mil guarantee he needs to get towards the end of this season.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) Jason Stark saying Sox will only give Ozzie to the Marlins for a big-time player. LoMo....welcome to the south side! No matter what reality is, that's what they should be saying right now.
  13. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 06:10 PM) Same thing really. I didn't realize that the Indians and Twins borrowed our roster for the last 1.5 weeks. What rule are they allowed to do that with?
  14. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 06:17 PM) No, only a small part of the story. All the other players I mentioned plus the results of the past few years tell the rest. OK, I give up. Walker is the best hitting coach ever and should be given a 10 year extension even if KW and Ozzie are gone after this season. He'll turn these hitters around if it takes him 10 years to do it! What you don't realize is that trying to indict Walker based on Betemit's 50 at bats is just as nonsensical as the statement you make here. If you bring a weak argument to the table, people will call you on it.
  15. This is kinda cool. Before: After
  16. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 05:57 PM) Since De Aza and Viciedo started receiving regular playing time the team has lost ground in the standings. Your belief has no merit. Detroit has put up a >.900 OPS as a team for the last 2 weeks. The Sox have lost ground because Detroit has been on fire.
  17. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) The point with Betemit is the one and only thing he could do relatively well was hit. But with the Sox, he couldn't even do that. Just another of Walker's failed students. Yeah. Those 50 plate appearances tell you the whole story.
  18. Microsoft unveils early version of Windows 8. Totally redesigned. Looks intriguing at first glance. They say it cuts down on the resources substantially from Windows 7. Might be their first OS ever that doesn't look like it's been ripped off from Apple.
  19. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) ...Because they're set at Catcher with Flowers and his .218 batting average... If they can find someone who would take AJ's full salary, then going with that wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. He's still got an OPS comparable to AJ's despite the low batting average, and there's reason to believe he can get better from here too.
  20. Needs to publish that result quick.
  21. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) Yeah, he really helped Paul Konerko alright. He watched him go through a couple off horrendous half-season long slumps until he "figured it out." What a genius that Walker is. Are you talking about 2003? When he was recovering from a broken foot that he played through down the stretch in 2002? Because yeah...Paul Konerko is Greg Walker's biggest success story by far, and there is little you can say to diminish that. Konerko might well be the smartest hitter in baseball.
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) Left unattended for a week, he'd probably discover the elusive God particle in physics. Maybe if we stopped calling the Higgs boson that phrase, we could avoid silliness like this post. Or Angels and Demons.
  23. Just as long as it isn't a boiling acid.
  24. Good point, his vision is probably based on movement.
  25. Everyone dance!
