  1. Not sure how chicken hearts taste.
  2. But just think about how much the invention of the typewriter increased productivity at the point it was invented. There's no reason out there to think that innovation suddenly took a big jump at 1980.
  3. QUOTE (MAX @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 12:21 AM) Anyway, I was surprised at the saints ability to score and move the ball on the pack. I hope that's how the packers defense really is. The Saints Offense could well just be that good.
  4. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 01:54 AM) Yup, if this season goes into the s***ter, I'd like to see them take Peyton's replacement. Only way that's the right call is if you don't think he'll be able to play out this contract for health reasons. If the season is a total loss and they're staring at a top 5 pick, and they are confident that Peyton Manning has 4 more good seasons in him...then get that team the extra weapon.
  5. QUOTE (MAX @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 12:32 AM) Quentin is gone then? I think that's been pretty obvious for a while.
  6. He'll still outhomer Dunn. Thanks for a great year brent. You shoulda played more.
  7. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 08:22 AM) Plopping a new manager on the bench won't solve everything. It's not going to fix Dunn and Rios. Those guys are professional veterans that need to figure a lot out on their own. I think you're way underestimating the effect quality preparation can have on a player.
  8. 2 QBs, 700 yards, 6 td's, 0 ints.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 11:32 PM) I disagree. Have you ever read JR's quotes about rebuilding? He isn't going to youth movement unless they are all stud can't miss prospects anytime soon. Do you really think he'll risk $120 million again on this roster with half that in the awful 3? Even though you think es cheap you can't believe that's a good investment.
  10. What al central team will lose parts this offseason? Twins, they lose injured guys. Tigers lose overpaid guys. Indians lose nothing, royals get a year to grow. White sox could lose Buehrle.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 11:27 PM) Not really. The AL Central is ripe for the taking. A new GM is going to want to win. Why would he want to play KW's minor leaguers? A new GM and manager will not have the same trust and salary freedom that kw has had. You had to know that. The only way a new management team will compete next year is off Kennys youth. And the AL central ought to be better next year than this. ESP with the tigers having money to spend again.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 11:23 PM) I'm totally against rebuilding. Then you need to support kw and maybe Ozzie staying, because the first thing a new GM is going to do is strip things down and start plugging in kids.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 11:22 PM) I'm not whining, but for every HOFer you mention that started out slow, I could name 1000 guys that started out slow and didn't get much better, and another 1000 who started better but weren't nearly as good. Robin Ventura started out pretty slowly. His offensive numbers his rookie year were quite similiar to Morel's. He was a little younger. But you can't get too excited about a 2 homer game in this situation and ignore the lack of power the other 140 games. Maybe he develops, maybe he doesn't. The odds are stacked against him having a Mike Schimidt or Robin Ventura career. Of course he's not likely to be an all star, but the fact that people are totally unwilling to give him the time he needs to develop has just been intolerable.
  14. Keep guessing
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 11:19 PM) I'm sold. Mike Schmidt started slow, so Morel is obviously going to have a better career than he did. The Sox are set. If you guys can't get this concept then you're going to hate rebuilding.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) So Morel should be a more disciplined Mike Schmidt. Awesome. Mike Schmidt should have been benches and replaced in his 2nd year. How could you possibly count on a guy like that?
  17. I'm sad
  18. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 11:02 PM) If it's not lift and pull which we hear so much about on here and not in a good way it's hitting like a pansy ? As a rookie maybe he was just getting a feel on how to approach certain pitchers or pitchers in general. Both HR's tonight on 1st pitch fastballs. He seems to be a smart player and I think next year we see a batter average and power to go with that stellar glove. I think Morels problem has been listening to the usual advice to make contact and go the other way... Just too much. I think Beckham is the same way.
  19. QUOTE (MAX @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) He might end up being a bust. He is a much better prospect than brent, offensively and overall. I just think that the first year in the majors is rarely indicative of that player's ceiling. Nope. You are your first 30 at bats. A number 1 pick gets 45.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 10:58 PM) How many did Kotsay hit last year? Ozzie and Soxtalk began hating home runs for some reason. The decline in homers probably is the reason the home record is so horrendous. Andruw jones hit a bunch out of the dh/cf spot, as did rios. Konerko has a few less, Quentin a few more. Jones kotsay and rios are the big power dropoff.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 10:54 PM) Ozzieball. Home runs are bad. Our hr have declined because the cf spot and the dh spot have produced a lot less.
  22. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 10:50 PM) You got word he'll be back? Regarding Morel, I've hated his approach all year, but it's nice to see him finally swing at the ball like a man. I've been waiting for him to turn and burn all year and it appears he is finally doing it (just in time as the season is over). It still doesn't exonerate him from being guilty of being a sally at the plate most of the year, however. No, being a rookie exonerates him from that.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) Flowers looks like a guy who has never bunted in his life. Its nice that Hawk pointed that out, as Ozzie is setting up for failure again. I don't know how its taking the bat out of his hands though. All those craving more Tyler Flowers in 2012 better be careful what they wish for. It looks like the league may have caught up to him. Flowers never was as good as he looked when he was hitting everything and he won't be as bad as he looks now. With a rookie... He needs legit qt bats to learn what pitchers are doing to adapt to him. His swing looks long because that's one of those mistakes you make when pitchers realize they can get you off balance at the plate.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 10:46 PM) And in fairness, Morel hasn't done much until the games became meaningless. In all fairness rookies never need time to learn anything and their first 30 at bats define their career.
