2011 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 07:33 AM) He's going to have his struggles next year. A guy comming back from TJ almost all the time needs two years to really be the same guy again. He'll still be damn good, but not quite the freak pitcher like he was when he first came up just yet.Supposedly, from the looks in the minors...his stuff is still there already. Some of that is because, as usual, he's been hurt.

Young Guns prevail again ! WHite Sox winner !
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 02:15 AM) Still not sold on De Aza and Flowers. Viciedo looks much improved from last year in his composure at the plate. Can't wait to see more of these three though. Compared to last year...Slowey tried to work him up and in with the fastball. In this game, he had a combination of laying off it, fouling it off, and then singling hard on the ground past the 3b when one snuck just a little too far out over the plate.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 08:56 AM) Balta and I have been highly supportive of De Aza ever since he was signed last year. The guy has never really been given a legit chance at the major league level. He unexpectedly won the Marlins starting CF job over a couple of their top prospects a few years ago and got off to a great start before suffering a bad ankle injury. He never really recovered from that and didn't get an extended look ever since. He is a good defensive player, has good wheels, puts the bat on the ball and has pretty decent gap to gap power. The reason the Marlins gave up on him is because they had a bunch of talent in the OF or coming up whom they were higher on (Maybin, Hermida, Stanton, Coghlan, Willingham). I was willing to even give him Pierre's role at the start of the season. He still has to prove he can keep this up over a full year, but I've always liked what I've seen in him going all the way back to watching him with the Marlins. ^this.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 09:05 PM) So would about four days worth of interest payments on the debt. No, youd need closer to 50 days at this point. Maybe 100.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) He's a crappy 3B with no glove and K's a ton with no patience. I'm being facetious Balta. Add a British accent to what I said and see if that makes it come to you...

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 08:37 PM) Food stamps or NASA? How about a 0.2% tax increase on the top tax bracket? That'd have covered the Orion program.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 29, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) How great was it to hear Hawk and Stoney praising De Aza (while also taking a shot at Rios' jumps on defense). Balta, how many more years do we have De Aza under contract? De aza shouldn't even have a year of service time yet. Sox should have him through 2015 or 2016
