Sox fielding calls for Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 03:35 PM) He and John Danks are 1 and 1a I dunno about Danks...Between the fact that he's been hurt this year and the fact that he's struggled this year, I wonder if it isn't entirely possible that we couldn't get fair value for him right now.

Sox fielding calls for Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) Not those moves alone, no. It'd have to be a sustained plan. And c'mon, do you really think Quentin will tear it up the rest of this year and next? The guy is erratic as hell, and there's a good chance he has a terrible year or that he breaks his wrist wiping his ass. If we're out of it this year...with what we have sitting on this roster and in the minors, Carlos has to be a top candidate to be moved. He could single-handedly win the division for us next year, but even if he does that, he'd be gone right afterwards. He's healthy now, he's moveable now, there's demand for him right now. If we throw in the towel, he's got to be at the top of the list. And Hell, I'd actually like to see if De Aza can give the big league club anything productive.

Sox fielding calls for Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) You really think the haul for those 2 is going to be enough to save the franchise? If the White Sox were to trade those 2 to restock just a little, and came back next year with almost the same mix except for Sale somehow moved into the rotation and a little more bullpen depth, we'd still say this team had a good shot to compete. But just like this year...if Dunn, Peavy, Rios, and a few others didn't perform...that would be a major hurt.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) We call this reaching. And I call complaining about gay people being loud with their homosexuality reaching.

Jerry must be so proud
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) Actually, it's not ok, which is why we call guys like that frat boy douchebags. I'm not sure who told you it's ok because they're straight, but it's not...and never has been. Just because HIS crew thinks it's ok, doesn't mean the rest of us think it's ok. The same way a very flamboyant homosexual's crew probably doesn't mind the extreme flamboyance. Ok, I'll make a deal. Gay pride parades will go away when any public display of extreme heterosexuality goes away. For example, no one here can go out in public with their kids and spouse any more. That's flamboyantly stressing one's heterosexuality way too much for any reasonable standard. I mean, all it's doing is telling me about your sex life, and I don't want to know about what people do with their wives.

Not sure what that is, I'll Google the term.

Let's now figure out what SMJK means.

This organization is in disarray
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) Ugh, this has nothing to do with us. They're a dynasty in the Central division. That's just not a dynasty. The Detroit Pistons won the NBA Central Division for 6 of 7 years, even got a title, but no one in their right mind would call them a Dynasty. The Colts have won their division for 7 of the last 8 years.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) Come on, there are certain gay men who are incredibly flamboyant to the point of being extremely annoying and obnoxious. It has nothing to do with them preferring men over women and everything to do with them acting that way. Have you ever been to a college party? There are plenty of straight men who are incredibly flamboyant to the point of being extremely annoying and obnoxious. But that's ok, because they're straight.

Sox fielding calls for Edwin Jackson
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) None. That's why I said "creative" ways to trade. I think Jackson and Quentin for Rasmus would be idiotic. Jackson must be a headcase cause he still has good stuff (I guess Cooper can't fix this one) and Quentin is a good player. I don't know if Jackson is a headcase...I think his biggest problem is the lack of a third remotely effective pitch. He's all 2 pitches...fastball slider. If both of those pitches are on 100% of the time, then he's near unhittable. If either of those pitches isn't giving him control that day though, then he's rapidly a 1-pitch pitcher or worse. He can still win some of those games because 1 of those pitches is a 96 mph fastball, but he has to throw a lot of pitches to win a game like that if he doesn't have the slider. Throw in one more pitch that comes in the low to mid 80's, even if it's not hugely effective every game, and suddenly even on days where he has no control over the slider, he can keep people off balance by changing velocity. Or, similarly, get him to do a better job of changing up the velocity on his fastball. Something. He just doesn't have the repertoire needed to be an everyday starter unless his 2 pitches are there all the time.

This organization is in disarray
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 02:47 PM) In what sense do you mean dynasty? Because the Twins have won this division in 6 of the last 9 seasons. That's somewhat dynastic. How many consecutive years does a team need to lose to the Yankees before we call it a dynasty?

Fan dies after fall at Rangers game
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) Seriously? If the guy is willing to climb up on top of a four foot table to try for his 3rd baseball, I'm not sure what outside of barbed wire or an electric fence you would need to stop this guy from being incredibly stupid. There is already a fairly substantial rail there that the dude just chose to ignore. Maybe my eyes deceive me, but it looks to me like the wire is on the far side of the table, not on the people-side, that the wires run below the table as part of the short railing.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) Atlanta seems to be a significantly better trade partner for Rasmus. However, if you can trade Danks for Rasmus and Quentin for Beachy, then sign me up. I have trouble seeing Atlanta wanting a long term OF solution like that, with the way they're talking up the defense they're playing righ tnow.

Jerry must be so proud
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 02:38 PM) Well, I mean, I wouldn't want to live with a huge Bro. A very flamboyant gay person might not fit your personality. But it also doesn't have much to do with them being gay. I think you missed the point here. We hear constantly, in this thread, how people have no problems with gay people, they just wish they wouldn't wear the fact that they're gay on their sleeve all the time. Oh and did you see that girl at the party last night? Man she was so hot. Or here, take a look at my photos of my kids. Aren't they adorable? If you can spot a guy within 10 seconds and say he's hetero, that's loud to me. There's a difference between that and the more reserved heteros.

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 11:39 AM) It will regress after people get used to it being around, like anything else. Depends on how you define "regress". We don't hear about the new e-commerce next amazon.com on the news every night like we did around 1998, but ecommerce has come a long way since then.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 01:55 PM) I just answered his hypothetical. If you can spot a guy and after 10 seconds think to yourself he's gay or think he's gay, that's loud to me. There's a difference between that and more reserved gays. If I had to choose who to live with, which is very important in this case, I'd go with the more reserved. That doesn't mean you have to "hide" it. Why are you being so loud with your heterosexuality? I find it offensive.

Poll: Viciedo, De Aza, Milledge and Danks
QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 01:13 PM) Dont get the hate for Jordan Danks. His defense is obviously major league ready and he is improving offensively. It is 100% all about the strikeouts. That's the entire reason for it. He's a more talented player than he's been so far, but if he can't cut down on the strikeouts, he's forever a AAA player.
