  1. So that's what .500 feels like.
  2. Philip = the Horse.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 06:47 PM) Looks like Crain is set up to close the game against Byrd. One more out for Matt. It almost scares me more to stick in Crain in the middle of the inning!! If Matty gets Pena, then he'll get the chance to face Byrd.
  4. Crain is warming but Thornton is still in. The Elf took over RF.
  5. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 06:45 PM) Ramirez is the threat coming up. Carlos Pena's last month disagrees.
  6. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 06:41 PM) From what I can tell of the audio broadcast - it's gonna be Thornton in the 9th still. Eek. hi8is is scared. Just because they said it doesn't mean it's right. Although that would really recharge the rest of the bullpen.
  7. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 06:39 PM) But, I'd sure have another 2 (probably Sale and Bruney) warming up. I actually think Bruney could use the day off too.
  8. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 06:35 PM) 1-0 in the bottom of the 8th and we have Dunn lumbering around out in RF. Don't we have a better defensive guy to play RF this late in the game. Someone will need to die if the Elf is not out there in the 9th.
  9. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 06:35 PM) does thor ever throw anything off speed? Occasionally but he's not good at it. If he had one plus-offspeed pitch that he could regularly throw for a strike, he'd probably be a starter.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 06:34 PM) Karros calls PK borderline HOF. Paulie the last 2 years is starting to make the case.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 06:28 PM) Well, if Felix could win the Cy last year, Bautista could win MVP this year. Still, Gonzalez > Bautista. The Bautista from June was an .830 OPS player. The Bautista from April/May put up a >1.275 OPS. If he's the Bautista from June the rest of the way, he's not winning MVP. If he pulls out another streak like that first 2 months, then bang, it'll be his. If the overall numbers of the 2 are similar it'll go to the guy with the first place team. Bautista needs to be clearly better.
  12. Thornton in. Does Crain get the 9th?
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) I know I'm late on this, but why was Garza yelling at Beckham when he walked earlier inthe game? Because he called timeout on a 2-2 count? Grow up, Matt. He spent most of that inning yelling at the ump then got several fairly close calls on Dunn to go his way.
  14. Even the Cubs bench coach knew that on an 0-2 count with 2 outs Ozzie would send the runner.
  15. It's going to be interesting to see Philip's next outing, this is the most pitches he's thrown in any outing this season and he's topped 100 pitches in each of his last few starts.
  16. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 06:19 PM) Sure it is. He's actually getting worse. He was not this bad in April. Something is wrong with him. People get shut down all the time. He's not doing anybody any good. He'll still get paid. If you're "Shutting Dunn Down" it needs to somehow be via the Dl.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 06:21 PM) Maybe fluke wasn't the right term. Do I think he's a 2.69 ERA, .98 WHIP or whatever it is caliber? No. Do I think he can't be serviceable? I'm not sure yet. He could be. But there's no past history to gauge this on. Only that he was a top pick almost 8 years ago. This isn't like Strasburg or Pineda coming up in their early 20's and dominating right away. Really, there's a couple years in there extra...but this is the Gavin Floyd story repeated. Top flight pick, comes up and never gets consistent performances, becomes known as a head case, comes to the Sox, and snaps out of it.
  18. QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 06:17 PM) Not a real sub-3.00 ERA pitcher? Are you saying he's a fluke? I don't get it. He's got a 2.69 ERA. I'd say that's true enough for me. Everyone always doubts on BABIP as a stat, but it still says he's due for a bad game or two.
  19. At least you get to face the pitcher here.
