And even if all that is true and the coaches have nothing to do with any of that, they might still have 2 more wins in the past 3 days.

The one simple reality right now is “it can’t be worse”. Name all of the friends and cronies you can think of, retreads, whatever - they could potentially be as bad as this, but there’s no room for it to be worse from a baseball perspective.

6/11 White Sox vs Texas Rangers, 1:10
If they were clearly going to go to Lambert for several innings yesterday then he should absolutely have started the 7th. I can go quote my posts saying that from before Sousa did his standard thing in this thread if you’d like. If Lambert falls apart, that’s on Hahn and LaRussa for the bad decisions they made putting together the bullpen (and yes, Kelly was a LaRussa pick). If it gets to the 11th inning and Sousa pitches and falls apart because he’s the last guy left, again that’s on the guys who put together that bullpen. But “doing the best thing I can might not work so it’s ok to do something clearly dumb” is not sound thinking. It’s the kind of thinking that justifies a chorus of boos and a “fire Tony” chant.

Go to town, this site scales their data by a projected WAR factor. This actually makes the white Sox look like they’ve lost fewer WAR to injury than an average team. Healthier than average! Google images shares their content but doesn’t include the details of the calculation. Having watched it for a couple years I can say they’re counting Eloy as almost nothing right now compared to last year: if you want more you will have to subscribe. https://www.mangameslost.com/category/mlb/

But what about when there is a 1-2 count?

This team is 11th in MLB in most days of the IL used and that has improved over the last month. They are only slightly less healthy then an average team: For how old this roster is they are as healthy as you could plausibly expect. The concept that this is somehow a surprising number or that it will improve later this season remains the second most ludicrous idea about this team next to the idea that LaRussa knows what he’s doing. Our next opponent, the Tigers, have lost Mize, Rodriguez, Turnbull, Pineda, and Manning. As well as Baez, Candelario, Grossman, Meadows, Chafin, and more. That’s 5 starting pitcher they’ve lost, in addition to an all star OF and their big IF signing for a while. They have a legitimate excuse right now. People should be laughing at the idea that the white Sox have an unusual injury problem compared to them, or the Mets or others.

Grandal exits game, apparent leg injury
Grandal sits on the active roster for 6 days before finally being put on the IL retroactive to today. Mendick makes at least one appearance at catcher.

If he has a back issue, no. We especially don’t need to have him actually pull a muscle trying to pitch through pain and missing a month.

Is Aaron Bummer alive? What is with this roster management?
Yes, it’s a 10 day IL.

This fan base is genuinely pissed. This chant, the loud booing is just part of it. I audibly heard at least one person yelling “Walk him Tony” late in the game over the radio and Twitter has a whole bunch of seemingly legit people saying this is happening at the ballpark every time there’s a 1-2 count now. I am not sure I can recall a time where the fan base was this angry. 2016 was a different feeling, this is somehow just pure unleashed anger.

6/11 White Sox vs Texas Rangers, 1:10
Graveman worked a lot yesterday, not using him makes sense. Someone suggested that Hendriks might have had some more back spasms at the end of his outing yesterday. He also never warmed up. Bummer hasn’t pitched in 4 days. Why he was both unavailable and also not on the IL is anyones guess, it seems like that same stupid game they’ve played with the IL all seasons.

The radio guys let it come through clearly too.

I will grant there’s no good response here from him.- Fire Tony Chant
Now that the chant hit and people heard it, either they go on a winning streak or this will be happening all the time.- Fire Tony Chant

- Is Aaron Bummer alive? What is with this roster management?
For this thread I don’t want to bother with the manager. This is driving me batty and I don’t know what the deal is. The White Sox lost todays game in large part because they put Sousa on the mound in the 7th. Aaron Bummer last pitched on Tuesday the 7th. He never warmed up today. It’s clear he wasn’t available - and he’s now been out for 4 days. It seems there were 3 other relievers unavailable today - Graveman and Lopez from throwing a lot yesterday and maybe another back issue for Hendriks. I understand when you can’t use a guy because he’s overworked, and I understand a guy missing a day or two for back spasms. But Bummer has now been out for half an IL trip already, and that means they’re playing a full man down before other people get hurt or overworked. Why is Aaron Bummer not on the IL if he cannot pitch today? Banks as a warm body is better than exhausted Ruiz and Foster in the 10th inning. This is not the first guy they’ve played this game with this season. They kept thinking Vaughn would come back from his bruise and wasted a roster spot for a week. Harrison missed a week with an injury and they didn’t IL him either. I think there was another one I’m forgetting right now. Why are we playing short handed like this? They keep doing it and it massively contributed to a loss today. - Fire Tony Chant
