I would have to say there’s plenty of spillover for this series. Bullpen relying on guys who are completely outmatched, offense has to choose between bad and awful for some positions, defense still bad. Last year there were so many times I could point to one or two disastrous decisions. Today, lineup was bad but would they have tied it if Mendick played and Vaughn was higher in the lineup? Eh. Would LaRussa have been more inclined to use Hendriks in the 8th if it was tied? Probably not. Pitching wasn’t good enough, bullpen wasn’t good enough, offense is half dead weight no matter who they play, and a bad throw gave up an unearned run.

Retooling / quasi-rebuild
Honestly the Dodgers might do Kimbrel for Pollock again?

Clearly the manager knows you can only use him in a save situation.

Yeah if the White Sox score 1 in the 9th I'm totally blaming this loss on graveman's vaccinaton status and Kopech's loss on Cease's vaccination status.

One run game and Graveman isn't in? Have either he or Hendriks pitched since Sunday?

Having said this since November...this will not happen. This team was always going to be banged up and losing people to covid, someone else will get hurt, then another.

Their run differential is so far behind Cleveland and Minnesota that it sure seems likely they will drop off the pace below them if they keep playing anything like this.

Or perhaps the first inning where the bases were loaded and Vaughn never came up.

How much money did he actually have in cryptocurrency?

- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
If it were 100% true and there were even photos but he didn’t break the law or anything other than party, who else would be reporting it?- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
This seems to assume that the manager is clearly thinking ahead and planning in detail rather than pulling lineups out of his butt on a nightly basis, and I would politely suggest that there is far more evidence that he’s doing the latter.- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
The stats have continued piling up plays not made. You're just getting used to everything hit to the OF falling.- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
Because Andrew Vaughn is currently the worst fielder in baseball when he’s out there in LF. He is unplayable in a completely different way.- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
2 run game, so presumably that means Crick and Banks the next 4 innings.- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
Vlad is 0/6 or 0/7 this series.- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
I get why they had to with Cease and the off days, but this is also telling us that long layoffs aren’t the best way to keep his innings down.- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
Prior to today, Kopech had a 3.93 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in the first 2 innings. It is 0 and 0.375 in the 3rd and 4th.- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
Well that’s just fascinating.- White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
If the Moncada stuff were the only time it would be totally fair to call it weird. But I seriously can't count how many guys they've played this "Will he or won't he" go on the IL game with already this year. They did it with Pollock, they did it with Vaughn, Robert was back last night for no obvious reason, they did it with Harrison for a week, I believe there was a pitcher they did this with. For some reason benching guys for a week is preferred over an IL trip 2-3 days longer. Maybe it's actually money, that they don't want to pay a second guy to be up?- Old Sock Drawer, ex Sox player discussion
...which is obviously more valid than his career 1.21 WHIP?- Cease and Graveman to Restricted List; Crick Up
It seemed surprising to me that Canada would still be barring travel by people who are medically unable to be vaccinated and sure enough I tracked down the procedures to travel there if you are medically unable me to be vaccinated and the detailed list of qualifying conditions. I would strongly suggest that anyone who is unable to travel to Canada due to vaccine mandates is doing so because of their choice. https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/awareness-resources/travellers-over-12-without-symptoms-medically-exempt-vaccination.html https://health.gov.on.ca/en/pro/programs/publichealth/coronavirus/docs/vaccine/medical_exemptions_to_vaccination.pdf- TA out 3 weeks
LaRussa specifically opted Robert, Moncada, and Garcia as guys who could lead off soon. - White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
