  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 01:49 PM) Wow, someone that actually agrees with me...I've been arguing all morning with friends about this. There really is no wrong answer honestly, some teams will benefit more from either method. I think it makes sense that the Bears should play as hard as they can, that seems like what this team needs...but there's no prima facie reason whyHanie couldn't play the whole game and the Bears could wind up in the Super Bowl.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) Anyways, what would you guys do this Sunday...play the starters the whole game? Play them half the game? Not play them at all? I'd see how the game is going. Prepare normally. If the game is close the whole way, the starters play the whole way. If Cutler pulls a Grossman, then Hanie and the backups get the 2nd half. You've already got the bye week to get healthy if someone tweaks anything. The Bears are a team that is actually getting better as the season goes along, esp. on offense. Gametime offense practice = useful.
  6. For 1 week out of 52 I'm not dieting, and I'm already being called fat.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) At least Jay flip-flopped all season long. Even last Sunday (or was it Monday?) night, Dilfer couldn't give the Bears any credit. Jay's play was solely due to the Jets not playing well enough, apparently. I think Dilfer not being a fan of the Bears doesn't remotely compare to Mariotti's level of ***hattery.
  8. Don't forget the bacon.
  9. Baltese.
  10. Zebraphobe, that's me
  11. Xenophobes, all of you
  12. Very embarrassing.
  13. That's what she said.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 12:30 PM) The Bulls have no one who can guard James or Wade. Luol Deng has, IIRC, been at least moderately effective against James in the past. You don't stop him, but you at least slow him down.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) I don't necessarily disagree with anything you said Balta but this latest fiasco involving the Guillen family only makes things worse when it comes to those players that are borderline about wanting to come here. And at least to me, there's likely to be a group of players who actually respect the Sox more because they stood up to Jenks rather than letting him rip the team. The group of players who don't want clubhouse things ever discussed may be larger, but I doubt it's 95-5 or anythign like that. So at least to me, you've got the small group of people who actually decide based on things other than money, then based on things other than the pennant races, then based on these exact issues discussed here, and then the ones who find this to be an immortal sin. Basically, I think it's much more likely that it will never matter, and if it does, it's probably not on an irreplaceable player.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 11:46 AM) So 100 MLB players sampled means nothing to you but 1 player who doesn't read the news is something to rely on? BS, I think you're right that a good number of players aren't fans of Ozzie Guillen, and out of all the managers out there, he's probably as well known as a controversial guy as anyone. I just really don't think that there are that many players who, when push comes to shove, actually care. With almost every FA out there, it's required the Sox making a competitive offer. With the few guys like Kerry Wood who turn down more money from us to go somewhere else, they do the same thing from other teams. With guys who have NTC clauses, they don't get in the way; with Peavy, he wasn't ready to waive his for anyone, and we got him anyway. For guys who are already here, if we want to keep them, we usually have a good shot if we're willing to spend the money. People say things like that when they're asked something in a poll, then if they are asked to put their money where their mouth is by taking $2-$3 million less to go somewhere else, they go with the money.
  17. QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 12:10 PM) Was that play on opening day? Yes
  18. Really got you to follow my blueprint there.
  19. Perhaps you should check my parents, they still have a working one.
  20. No one here knows where to find a working Apple II, do they?
  21. Kids don't deserve that.
  22. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 12:44 PM) Honestly, til yesterday, I was stranded in airports so I don't know. Probably not... because NY and Philly media generally ignores NJ media. And New Jersey media leans heavily Republican. Well, the NY media is starting to go after Bloomberg for being equally unprepared.
  23. I can think of worse products.
  24. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 11:29 AM) No one can deny that the Bears have been pretty lucky this year with the injuries. OTOH, last year, they were pretty darn unlucky.
