  3. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 27, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) Anything>>>>>>>>>>>>TCF As soon as I have a more permanent position, I'm switching everything to either a community/local bank or to a local credit union. BofA has a nice online banking system, but that's about the only positive thing I can say for them. Their customer service has been a mess every time I've needed to deal with it. Those ATM's love eating my checks/cash without counting them. Their interest rates are through the floor, and they'll tack on a fee/fine for everything they can.
  4. Whoa, that font...
  5. HE also needs to protect the space-time continuum.
  6. Mark Prior is hurt?
  7. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 26, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) I dislike Chase. I have my savings there but my wife and I checking account is with Bank of America. Now those guys I love. There ATM's are more advanced IMO and way more freindly staff. Plus we opened a "keep the change" savings account there. Every time we use our debit, if there is any change left over til the next dollar it goes directly into the savings account and they match it for the first three months. And then they match 5% after that. But its money we dont miss and it accumulates really quickly. I F***ing hate BofA's ATM's.
  8. "Iris" got played on the radio. A lot.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 27, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) From whom though? I am trying to imagine Derek Jeter honestly being available as a FA. I suppose some team might offer more than the 3/$45 because of the media attention and short-term boost in revenues he could bring, but I really can't fathom him being worth any more than 3/$50 or 4/$60, and that contract has a real possibility of being a disaster, should Jeter see a sharp decline in his late-30's seasons... If I were Boston, I'd think the spite press would be worth 3/$50 or 4/$60 to me.
  10. QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 27, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) Sending money to the poor in disadvantaged countries = good. Boras sending money to the poor in a disadvantaged country and hoping for some back = evil. I'm feeling bad for expecting my Kiva.com loans to be repaid. WTF?
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 27, 2010 -> 08:13 AM) First off, 95% of this board wanted Paulie gone and wanted the Sox to pay at least part of his contract to do so before 2010. WTF?
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 25, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) It is the only weakness in his game right now. But being as short as he is, he is probably always going to have problems. I wonder how much of Rose's weakness on defense right now relates to the fact that he has to give 100% every possession on offense. Even with his size issues, my big probelm with him is that he's constantly out of position on d.
  13. QUOTE (southloopsox @ Nov 25, 2010 -> 10:32 PM) It might be easier to fix Bobby if possible than to replace him A couple years ago I might have agreed, but we've been going through seemingly the exact same issues with inconsistency basically since 2006.
  14. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 25, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) I don't see him coming back after a non-tender. Remember all the bad press about management calling him fat? You mean "2006"?
  15. Just hit Walgreens and CVS. Got about $50 worth of stuff for -$10.
  16. You guys are lucky you didn't have to drive through Louisville.

I'm about to go rob Walgreens and CVS of a ton of free stuff.
  18. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 25, 2010 -> 03:38 AM) All I want for Christmas is some defense at 3B, let's not forget last year.. That's one thing I'm pretty confident in saying we have, between Morel and Omar. I think they're more worried about 3b bats.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 25, 2010 -> 08:43 AM) I think I'll start ignoring your predictions. Especially after your early season prediction of the Heat and last week's Bears game. Right now, the only thing that might make this team work this season is trading Bosh to fill all the other roles they need. Especially if Haslem is lost for the full season, they have zero inside presence. Lebron doesn't want to be a post player, and they have no one else who can defend in there. I thought Haslem could do it coming into the year. I'll also bet you that all 3 of them are still "Kinda" out of shape. That they all spent 3 months partying, thinking it'd be easy.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 25, 2010 -> 01:10 AM) I am thankful for you.
  21. The Hammer is on his way to prison for money laundering. Tom Delay was convicted this morning.
  22. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 10:02 AM) I agree with KW for once. If you are not going to be competitive next season, sell off the veterans with value and start rebuilding to contend, being half way between contending and rebuilding has no benefit. If KW cant sign/acquire the players that are going to put this team into contention, tear this thing down and start rebuilding. The only problem I have with that is that the Sox minor league scouts have not shown to have a great track record of evaluating talent. I disagree. I think a lot of teams manage to contend by hanging on to some constant level of turnover while still holding on to a select group of key guys. Go through the list of teams that stayed competitive for multiple years; most of them have huge turnovers and still stay in there. The 2007 Red Sox looked very little like the 2004 Red Sox, save for Ortiz and Manroid. The 2006 Twins and 2010 Twins have Mauer and Morneau, but the pieces around them are pretty different. The 2008 and 2010 Rays made the playoffs with almost completely different starting rotations. You can win by having constant, "Rebuilding" level turnover, if the couple key guys you have, who are on big salary contracts or who you need to produce big numbers, do so. For the Sox, right now, the key guy there is Peavy.
  23. Lowest Weekly unemployment claims number since before the Lehman/AIG apocalypse. Still high though.
  24. QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 09:01 AM) I'd say a better thing to draw from this is that you can't really tell anything conclusively about one game. I'd grant you that too. Still though, it's nice to see the Bulls hang with the champs. The problem though continues to bee the same problem the Bulls have dealt with most of the year; back court defense. And that's not something that is going to improve when Boozer returns.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 09:43 AM) Of course, history indicates that most of the time, the person seemingly in the lead before the primaries start, usually isn't the one who wins the nomination. Really? I'd say it's a tossup. Bush in 2000, Gore in 2000, Dole in '96, McCain in 2008 (March 2007 poll had him leading over 9iu11ani).
