  1. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I thought opulence was generally flame-retardant.
  2. Sen. Murkowski now has a lead of over 10,000 votes, which is now larger than the number of votes that Mr. Miller's side challenged. Mr. Miller's side is now asking for a hand-recount. The AP has now called the race as well.
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) Maybe he will be the backup 1B/3B if he has a good spring? Lefty bat with some pop on the bench? You know what that actually might mean? Brent Morel isn't your starting 3b at Charlotte any more.
  4. So yeah...Jake Peavy's going to be out 3 months, and the Sox are going to trade Floyd. Leaving them with Buehrle, Danks, Jackson, and Sale as their starting rotation for June. No one else thinks these 2 threads are completely contradictory?
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 02:37 PM) No love for Washington and Bochy? Remember, it's based only on the regular season.
  6. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) You guys underestimate CQ's abilities as a fielder. He has a very good throwing arm and is improving in the field I will grant you that some improvement could be possible with time...but the key issue for me is...I think that if you put him out there, he keeps getting hurt, and every time he hurts a leg or something his range gets worse.
  7. Now I have no idea what that means.
  8. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) BTW Danks is becoming severely underrated on this forum, and a lot of Danks' potential and Sale's potential are locked up in questions of durability and mechanics. Both have high ceilings as starters, but Danks is the safer bet. And I just happen to think that even more than that, with durability and mechanics aside, Danks still has a higher ceiling out of the rotation than Sale does because of his delivery and because we already know what Danks can do, and saying Sale should be able to do more is kind of pie-in-the-sky IMO. Really, I don't believe that Danks is a durability concern at all, and the only way he's a mechanics concern is if you want to say that his occasional bad start that he just can't endure is caused by inconsistent mechanics.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 01:57 PM) To be fair, Kenny only talked about the start of the season. Bruce Levine said June. You might only need a fifth starter a few times in April. Even if we're just talking start of the season, that doesn't seem totally out of character to anyone else?
  10. Let me clarify...would they melt or burn?
  11. Just for my own edification...tennis balls melt?
  12. QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 01:41 PM) Couldn't it just me covered in a condom? If it works for drugs, I assume it would work for a bomb. You know as soon as a Republican is in the White House we're being investigated for this thread lol How do you set it off? If you use a timer, or any sort of receiver, that takes up space, and there's only so much you can fit inside one of those as a trigger. The other part is...if it is actually inside you...your body takes a lot of the energy of the explosion. Depending on the exact explosive, you might not be able to get enough power outside of the body to really damage the plane other than to make a gigantic mess.
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) It would be nice to have 9 gold glovers on defense but that ain't gonna happen. CQ is serviceable in RF and we need to stick with our talent. He can do it! Repeat the mantra Really, last year, he flat out wasn't serviceable. If he'd hit .280 and 40 HR, he might have been serviceable, but that'd be because his offense was carrying it. He was just awful, and it likely contributed to his struggles at the plate as well (through injuries).
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) If June really is true, Garcia will be back, and it will happen soon, I bet. If that's really true, then I'm shocked KW would come out and say anything. How does he benefit from other teams knowing he's after a back of the rotation starter?
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) I'm not following...how so? Any near-full-time DH signing would push quentin back into RF, and that sounds like a bad plan.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 01:19 PM) Is that really a question? Well yeah, I mean I was still a kid when he was in office, but I didn't get that impression from him. Lots of other impressions, but not that one.
  17. Hell on earth, that could be. Many casualties.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 01:17 PM) Besides every baseball writer reporting they're going to sign two big bats this offseason? It's been everywhere. They've already signed Jhonny and Benoit to pretty big deals, and they're considered the leaders for VMart and Dunn. They unloaded a ton of payroll from last season. They signed Jhonny Damon?
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 01:17 PM) Almost all of those sound like Bill Clinton honestly. Bill Clinton is mean spirited?
  20. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 01:06 PM) She never endorsed Angle. And I am not so sure she endored Fiorina either. She was however a big backer of Buck, Rubio and Johnson. How did BO do? Link
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 10:19 AM) I don't know much about Carter, but I thought I remember hearing that his stuff improved significantly when he was moved to the bullpen. If so, then his performance in the AFL could be a better sign of things to come than his totals in AA. What do his AFL walks look like?
  22. So no one reads a statement from KW that Peavy will be on the DL as KW actually saying "Peavy's going to win 6 games for me in April and I'm going to rake someone over the coals for one of my pitchers"?
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) It's possible that the rotator cuff surgery helped him pitch so well and last year wasn't a fluke. But given his career numbers before that, I would question that deal. Its the largest contract for a non-closer reliever since Mr. Linebrink. He gave up a .192 BABIP last season.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 10:38 AM) Umm, there have always been double posts, however, at least now, there aren't the posts in two different forums. Based on my reading, it seems like everything right now is getting triple-posted.
  25. QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) I worry what the next level of scanning will be when bomb makers figure out an effective bomb that can be swallowed. The big problems with that are actually biological. You swallow a bomb, your stomach acids are going to start working on it to break it down, and they're really good at dissolving high-energy organic compounds. And if somehow you have a bomb that can't dissolve, your stomach is going to start pushing it down to your intestines pretty quick. Plus there's the whole "fuse-gag reflex" issue.
