QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 12:55 PM) Can't know for sure though, we'll have to see over the next year or two. Sadly, we are very unlikely to care what he's like for the 2012 season.

2010 ALCS: Rangers vs. Yankees
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) The fact that the Rays could not hit left handed pitching killed them. Outside of LL I think teh yAnks beat he hell out ofthe Rangers pitching. I hope the Rangers can beat up the Yanks staff. The Yankees put up a .757 OPS on the season in 8 games against Texas, and a .786 OPS overall.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 11:11 AM) But if we don't drill in some areas, China, Cuba, etc will. We still need to drill in the meantime. Is it worth noting that this claim has been repeatedly established and admitted to be false?

White Sox in win mode, not rebuild
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 10:51 AM) But who would it take to get SD to deal A Gonzalez to the Sox? Would a starting pitcher and Viciedo do it? Frankly I have no idea. Not because I can't figure out the Padres' needs...but because I don't know the Padres' financial straits. They had a good year on the field and shed a lot of salary last year, but they're also looking at losing the guy for 2 picks in 1 season.

White Sox in win mode, not rebuild
QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 09:57 AM) I truly believe KW is going to go hard after A Gon this winter. With SD's GM stating that signing A Gon to a HUGE deal isn't very practical and KW stating that one of the teams first priorities is a stick from the left side- I can see some potential for a deal here. A move for a guy like that depends entirely on what salary flexibity KW has. If he has room to increase significantly from last year, which frankly is possible (there's been a substantial cutback compared with a couple years ago already), then it's do-able if you assume that the player you get is marketable and will help put butts back in the seats. If he's under orders to cutback on spending...he won't land a guy like that and have him walk after 1 year.

White Sox in win mode, not rebuild
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 09:12 AM) Teahen should only go to right field or any other of the so-called positions he can play when the primary bench player for that position cannot. In my view, Teahen is the 25th player on next year's roster, and only that because we're stuck with him due to that horrible contract extension. But under no circumstances should he be viewed or spoken about as a starting player any longer. I think we all saw last year (and KC fans the five years previous) that neither his bat and certainly not his glove deserve the nod as a starting player. That ship has sailed. So that puts him on the bench, and to me he's the guy who fills in at 3rd or 2nd when Omar is unable to do so for whatever reason, and in a corner outfield position when whoever the new 4th outfielder is not available. In other words, he becomes the Scott Linebrink of the position players. If it works out any differently, if they run him out there more often than that, then I think the Sox are worse off overall as a result. That's certainly the best way to do it with Teahen. However, there's one other way things could work. Hypothetically, lets' imagine a situation where the Sox make a large deal for a top flight player. Say, Quentin + someone else, and the return is an Adrian Gonzalez or a Prince Fielder. Suddenly we're sitting there with a vastly improved team, but we have a hole that we need to fill. If we fill it with a person who is just a warm body, overall the team has been upgraded. Teahen can be used in that way. If you go into the season with the team as constructed right now, Teahen is a utility backup/platoon player with Quentin in RF and maybe Morel at 3b, but I'm not ruling anything out, as I expect this to be anything other than a boring offseason.

Official 2010-11 NFL Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 12, 2010 -> 10:47 PM) There is no way in hell that the Bears strategy was to give underneath routes so they could force a fumble. That is f***ing stupid. They wanted to force the Packers to have long drives feeling that they would make a mistake to screw it up rather than have their corners get beat deepand if it wasn't for a pathetic fumble by Jones, and that wasn't a great play by Urlacher, the Bears lose that game. That was the exact Bears strategy. They didn't care if it was a fumble, sack, INT, 20 penalties, whatever. Between Peppers tearing up the line and their guys over the top, if they gave the Packers the short passing game, the Bears were going to win that game more than 1/2 the time. If the Packers went deep, they were going to wind up with Rogers on his back or with a dozen holding penalties, and there'd be some fumbles and INT's from the pressure. If the Packers went short, there'd still be some holding penalties, and the ball would be in the air so often that fumbles and INT's from deflections should be common. The Packers' skill was in having as few TO's as they did. A bad team turns the ball over like the unholy union of Carson Palmer and Jake DelHomme in that game.

NBA Predictions - (Predictabulls Part II)
QUOTE (T R U @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 03:46 AM) And how exactly is there no chance in hell that happens when Lebron by himself in Cleveland was good enough for 60 win teams? If they really want 73, itll be done.. There are 3 easy answers to that. If you don't think they'll get to 73, you think it's because one of them will get hurt or exhausted because of excessive minutes, you think that there will be a serious chemistry clash (to the point that Riles steps in to bail the team out in the 2nd half), or you think that they're going to get crushed by any team that has a legitimate big man because they have no one who can slow down a Howard or a Gasol on the inside. I think they're 73 barring freak injuries, but there are legit points on the other side.

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 05:17 AM) I love how Thibs is using Deng, LOVE IT. If he is hitting threes at this effiency, I might have to change my tune a bit on the Bulls needing another shooter to help Rose. There's a reason why I thought the Bulls would be best waiting in an Anthony sweepstakes for example. This is the best roster they've had in years, and this is the first time they've had better than a pee-wee level coach on the sidelines since Skiles.

ALDS: Rays vs. Rangers
QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 12:46 AM) He is approaching legendary status (if he isn't there already) as far as a post season performer. I also find it interesting that Texas celebrates with gingerale instead of champane in their clinching games cuz of Hamilton's alcohol problems in the past. Pure class by Texas FO. Last night Lee broke a couple of records. He tied Walter Johnson for the most consecutive 10+ strikeout performances in road playoff games, and he either tied or snapped Kevin Brown's record for strikeouts in a division series. And you can legitimately debate whether or not he's the 3rd best pitcher in the playoffs right now.

2010 ALCS: Rangers vs. Yankees
Having Lee unable to go in game 1 really hurts. Wilson needs to step up and match Captain Cheeseburger otherwise the Yankees have an excellent chance to steal home field right out of the gates.

White Sox in win mode, not rebuild
QUOTE (joeynach @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 12:05 AM) The title of this thread should be, white sox try to once again field a team good enough so that the organization draws enough so they dont operate in the red. You sound like that's a bad thing. Is it your opinion that you'd rather have the Sox put a high payroll team out there that wins 70 or fewer games on a regular basis so that the organization does operate in the red?

White Sox in win mode, not rebuild
QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 12, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) in 2011 we probably won't draft a Chris Sale. In what sense? If you're specific like "a guy who will come up to the bigs 1 month after being drafted" you're probably right, because that is pretty darn rare. If you're saying a guy who can be a legitimate contributor rapidly...you might be wrong. This is constantly talked about as a deep draft coming up next year; even though Sale fell to us, there's every reason to believe that there can be real talent available in the latter 1/2 of the first this year.
