  1. Since I still have the window open, right now Fangraphs has the white Sox with the 4th best playoff odds and 4th best World Series odds in the AL.
  2. For missing details here - the Twins used the iL for 500 days more than the White Sox last year. What did the Twins lose?
  3. Fangraphs had them at 11% on winning the division and 27% to make the playoffs on Tuesday before this move. Add 8 WAR with a pitcher and Correa and that has to narrow right? So far 16% to win the division, 35% to make the playoffs from this move.
  4. So the Twins are one started from being a legit wild card contender and two from being a division winning threat right away? Interesting.
  5. If they fall out of the race early and Correa is healthy I would fully expect it. They’re out a draft pick here, so they definitely thought of that.
  6. There continue to be people who say that. The problem is it makes no sense.
  7. Everybody else goes up though. With reasonable guesses for arb and options, I eyeballed the White Sox payroll next year at $170 million +. A lot of that is guaranteed thanks to the bullpen additions…and that’s without Abreu.
  8. Technically both of those guys should sit once a week and DH once a week, for health and age reasons. But you’re right at 1b it won’t happen because of Abreu. I could be cynical and suggest that the manager could screw up resting the LF too, but we will see.
  9. Unfortunately, not only were the White Sox willing to lose Machado over opt-outs, I'm not sure of any contract where they've offered one.
  10. One nice thing is that Harrison, Leury, and Romy can all cover some of the OF spots if/when Engel is unavailable. But yes, for the season - they ought to at least have someone competent at AAA, and they don't really have that right now.
  11. Althoguh he won't be ramped up for 5 innings in his first start...does anyone actually think they will handle Kopech like that?
  12. So the solution to not having enough starting pitching depth is to imagine how things would be worse with an extra pitcher.
  13. So who takes the innings Kopech can't do, and who is the 5th starter?
  14. Statcast graded him out as average in 19/20 but every other year he's been about -5 in outs-above-average out in RF, including last year (-6). So somewhat below average but not awful would be a reasonable description so far?
  15. While true, that also probably means that Castellanos talks are in their endgame.
  16. So the solution to this is to have Keuchel all suited up and ready to go for the playoffs. After all, if Kopech isn't available, he's surely good to go.
