  1. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 09:56 AM) Way to deflect the main point. That's all you guys can do. This guy cannot lead. Period. It shows every day he has a concert, plays basketball, goes to 20 fundraisers, all while screaming about "who's ass to kick" and "it's the most important thing I deal with every second of every day" (oh, was that jobs, or oil, or health care, or ...) This man cannot lead. He's extremely imcompetent. And we're all seeing it right now. GMAFB on that one. NBC made sure that they cut the article on his interview in a way that excluded the part where the interviewer asked something about "who's butt do you kick here"?
  2. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 09:59 AM) The state is enforcing federal law. That's SO unconstitutional. Is it really a state's job to do that though? Can a state prosecute someone based on federal law?
  3. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 11:58 AM) Why hasn't Stone ever put on a uniform or actually worked for a MLB team? Because pitchers don't wear uniforms.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) Once he becomes more and more exposed, he will struggle and the league will adjust. And if you want to genuinely develop a guy, he needs to get to that point and learn to adjust himself.
  5. QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 07:59 AM) JR is not going to fire anyone. If anyone leaves it will be their choice. I think KW might be ready to move on and there may be teams ready to make him an offer. Well, I'm sure he could take a lower level job, but I'm not sure that teams will want him being the face of their franchise right now after the soap opera in Chicago. Plus, there aren't that many GM jobs open.
  6. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 09:49 AM) I get feeling Kotsay will be right for the LHH Kotsay is 4/24 career against Silva.
  7. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 09:44 AM) It's early and I just woke up so give me a break if I sound like a retard but.. Recap: are you saying we should trade him now because ARB will not be offered and we won't get any picks for him anyway? That would be one way to do it. Or, more simply, if you don't want to trade him, don't say anything about getting picks back.
  8. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 10:08 PM) I like them until 7:00 and I realize there's nothing on to watch. I hate having stuff to do in the afternoon and then missing 80% of the game because of it.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 02:49 AM) Why do you think we won't be able to deal AJ later? He'll accept a f***ing deal if it means going to a contender. We're not going to get s*** for him either way. Nobody's going to give much for a guy his age who can't throw. Might as well keep him and go for the best deal when teams want to make a splash shortly after the all star break. Dealing for AJ Pierzysnki in July isn't a bigger splash than dealing for AJ Pierzynski in June
  10. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 08:22 AM) I didnt care that the Sox beat the Cubs, I was just happy we didnt lose to the Cubs. If that makes any sense. Yes, it does.
  11. Seriously, whoever put the arb thing in the headline...thanks.
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 12:45 AM) I was unaware that the Nobel Price he was given was for physics and he has the knowledge to handle this by himself but he just doesn't care and/or is too incompetent to do so? Secretary Chu has actually done a decent job. There's a great anecdote in the Post a few days ago about Secretary Chu joining the BP team for a while and suggesting they use gamma ray imaging to get a better picture of inside the BOP, the BP guys being dumbfounded for a bit, trying it, and discovering that it worked
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 12:47 AM) The British government is whining. Someone tell me, who else are Americans supposed to be blaming for causing this if not for BP? Surely not the company that caused it...? Hey guys, I'm sorry if it was a British multinational company that f***ed up so badly and has to take it on the chin... They have a reasonable gripe...BP is one of, if not the, most widely held company by British stock owners. Everyone in Britain is losing their retirement savings over this. And since its the shareholders and not the useless little people, it's even more important. Blaming Obama for being mean to them is obviously stupid, even though he's the easiest target, but everyone in Britain has lost money in the BP Stock price meltdown.
  14. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) This is what happens when you elect someone who is an idealist, utopian dreaming idiot instead of someone who can actually be an executive. An MBA and a CEO will save New Orleans!
  15. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 11:10 PM) Anecdotally, people are just starting to figure out the shamzus that was just forced up our ass. And they're pissed... unless you're the ultra liberals who think that they are getting health care for nothing. Actually, as we predicted, polling data on the plan has steadily improved since passage. A solid majority now says "Give it a shot".
  16. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 11:12 PM) Totally off topic... you need to change your JinDALL quote to: It's a little more appropriate. Dude, I'd change that to the Obama quote. It was much more timely. And anyway, I'm a geologist, volcanoes are my world, I'm keeping that one.
  17. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 09:20 AM) Okay, there's two different things going on here. Anchor baby law, vs. the law that's already passed. The law that's already passed is constitutional and that is what I am talking about. There's a different constitutional arguement to be made on that one, and it's going to be decided by the courts at some point; the whole "states can't make a law that supercedes federal law" issue. Enforcing immigration regulations can be argued to not be a state issue. Furthermore, you could probably also challenge any deportation done under that law as violating itself, because of the whole racial thing. That one's for the courts to decide. The Birthright citizenship law though, that's as open and shut as they come.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 09:36 PM) Exactly, but it's even moreso true with an unstable personality like Ozzie. I see what you're saying, but I don't think Ozzie's personality is the important thing here. I think it's just someone else's manager.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) You have to make Hahn GM if you're going to keep Ozzie, it's the only choice. Nobody else would deal with taking the job if they had to inherit a hot tempered, iffy (at best) strategical manager like him. Nobody else would take the job while having to deal with someone else's manager, unless the guy's an MLB legend (you'd do it if your manager was Torre or Cox)
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) Everyone even halfway decent has a chance to make the NBA/NHL playoffs. Not so much in MLB. But in the NBA, if you're not one of the top 4 teams or so, you're very unlikely to make the finals.
  21. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) Agreed. The end result would be me (and probably many others) going back to not trusting the organization at all anymore. Explain please?
  22. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) This is a player acting like he's the top dog on the team when he has been a MASSIVE bust thus far. f*** him His quote was no where near sounding like that to me.
