  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 09:17 PM) I forget the Friday games against the Cubs are always in the afternoon. I've said it before and I'll say it again; I hate weekday afternoon games.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) Cowley said Garcia and Konerko confirmed the blow-up. Also, both Stone and Cowley suggested Hahn will be replacing KW sooner rather than later, and Ozzie's going nowhere. So, you're saying that Hahn will soon be the GM of the Bulls and Ozzie is going to Thibodeau's staff?
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) Things change quickly, but trading good, young pitching usually finds you on the short end of the trade. Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell's contract for Hanley Ramirez.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 08:45 PM) No I don't get the point. The Twins also extended Mauer and Morneau, a couple guys if they were White Sox you probably would have liked traded for prospects if the team wasn't winning before they were locked up . Haven't the Twins been winning? Point is pretty simple. Even if you screw up the trade, there is no single pitcher in MLB who is so good that your team will never recover from trading him.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 08:40 PM) How are the guys they got for Santana doing? Not well. But I think you get the point.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) If the Sox trade John Danks for prospects because they worry about whether or not they can sign him in a couple of years, this team will never win again. Like the Twins when they dumped Santana for prospects. Haven't won since.
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 06:14 PM) only way you trade Danks at this point is if extension talks completely fall through... why would you trade a young pitcher you have under some control for another year or two to get prospects? Because his value/the number of teams that you can effectively trade him to drops as he goes through the arbitration process and gets more expensive.
  8. Rule number one is; don't tease the panther.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) Man the Cubs clubhouse is imploding. Between the Wells presser and Lous flip out, this team needs to be taken out back and shot. This team was not built to grow old gracefully.
  10. Even in a sucky season, it is fun to blow out the Cubs.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 08:12 PM) The days of acquiring Jeff Bagwell for Larry Andersen are ova. However, Carlos Santana for Casey Blake is entirely possible.
  12. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 06:48 PM) If it's deemed that we're completely out of contention next month, having Flowers and AJ splitting time at C and DH might not be a bad idea. Yes it would. AJ has given every indication that having his replacement around does not exactly make him comfortable.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 08:14 PM) It sounds like a terrible idea to me, but I know nothing about it either. I can see why he's saying that the water pressure would contain the shock wave, but I think he just doesn't understand the way rocks behave under those kinds of shock. A nuke could actually work, but it's a large gamble.
  14. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 06:15 PM) Two for one: This might me a surprise, but there does need to be a change to our current citizenship laws. Too many Mexican nationals walk over as "tourists" and give birth here. The hospitals here deliver an amazing number of "tourist" babies. Hundreds of years ago, when citizenship was determined by birth, people were not as mobile. 2010 calls for laws from this century, not the 1700s. My son just received his new Social Security card, it says you should not carry this with you, but keep it secured at home. Should they add an asterix for Arizona. And a bonus. Of course states should not be the ones to decide who is a citizen of the US. There really is no way you can do this with a law. You've got to amend the 14th amendment to do it.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 06:28 PM) Seal the leak? MOAB it. The more I think about explosives, the worse an idea I think it is. The big benefit of a nuke is the temperature; you get hot enough that you actually melt all the rocks around the explosion site, and that melt can quench into a glass, fusing everything together. You don't get the same temperature with a conventional explosion that you do with the nuke. And, if you don't know the geology perfectly, when you're trying to seal the thing with the explosion, you also likely generate a whole lot of new fracture paths in the layer you're nuking. You hit a set of joints, and bang, suddenly you've blown the entire reservoir open. Right now, I'm just not sure I trust our knowledge of the reservoir geology there. Especially after a month and a half of explosive spilling.
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 07:22 PM) Are you talking loss from purchase price or loss from a previous high? From previous high. I haven't a clue what the purchase price was, I didn't pay for it.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) Is Linebrink the most overpaid employee in the history of the United States? LOL, yeah, right. You've been paying attention to sports for how long? First of all, Tracy McGrady got what, $20 million last year to do nothing? Eddy Curry? Baseball players, Mike Hampton? Carl Pavano and his $10 million/start contract? Or should I go to the world of business, where people collect billions for running companies into the ground.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) Two offensive explosions in three games? What gives? We've been due.
  19. Alabama getting swamped today. Haley Barbour's commercials about how the beaches are clear are now a waste of money.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:29 PM) I didn't realize he was that short on work, that would work too. But I'd love to have all of Putz, Thornton and Jenks fresh for future games. I wouldn't mind working Putz or Jenks. I'd love for Thornton to just rest for the week.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:13 PM) Not only is it not Constitutional, Arizona doesn't even have legal standing to decide citizenship in any form. This is completely for show, and what a stupid show it is. But if the police are willing to follow orders, they can make it Hell for anyone with non-white skin to live there.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 05:27 PM) Randy should be released There is one guy on the roster I flat out want replaced.
  23. Linebrink is warming and Lillibridge is flexing his power in the on deck circle.
