Official 2010-2011 NCAA Football Thread
QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 02:25 AM) Going to be real interesting to see how the loss of schollie's will be divided up. In a few years, USC might be where Alabama was a few years back and where Miami was in the mid to late 90s. It's actually 30 scholarships, 10 lost a year from 2011-2013.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 03:40 PM) Hes always been good, hes just had mental lapses at times that drive people crazy.. We've spent a lot less time complaining about his mental lapses this year than last year though. That could just be because we all stopped caring in late April.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) This doesn't even have anything to do with Cowley, any reporter in town would have phrased it that way. When you're dealing with a subject as complicated and potentially explosive as the waiving of a NTC or asking to be traded in the event of a complete rebuild a tweet paraphrasing a player's quote is not going to suffice. Then there's no reason to tweet it if the tweet doesn't get the correct point across.

Should Soxtalk Kill the Swear Filter?
QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) Well then maybe you should be working instead of looking at the site? Then there would be less admins to police the place, and we'd need an even stronger swear filter.

Should Soxtalk Kill the Swear Filter?
Not when this many admins visit the site while at work.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 03:18 PM) Oh come on, after Cowley's initial tweet, it sounded much worse than what Peavy actually said. I know, I was the first one to say that was probably the case. Cowley's tweet was basically the headline,

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) Why is it that I see nothing to get upset about in that quote? Because you read more than the headline.

June Catch All White Sox Thread
Here's my example of what I mean... if the question was asked as "If the Sox give up for a couple years and want to do a complete rebuild, would you be open to a trade and waive your NTC?" and Peavy answered "Yeah, in that case I'd want to be traded, but they're not going to do that", the tweet with his answer could sound a lot worse.

I'm betting that whatever Peavy actually said, it sounds worse when it gets compressed into a twitter post and removed from the context of the discussion. For example, if the question was asked as "If the Sox give up for a couple years and want to do a complete rebuild, would you be open to a trade and waive your NTC?" and Peavy answered "Yeah, in that case I'd want to be traded, but they're not going to do that", the tweet with his answer could sound a lot worse.
