  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) Thornton's just not the same right now. He's going to need to mix up his strategy to these hitters that see him 10 times or more a season. Hell, the other teams in the Central still can't hit him; it's just the Indians.
  2. And Thornton continues to get creamed by the Indians.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) Does the ultimatum mean anything? Could the schools just ignore it? I can't imagine the Big 12 would decide to expel them if they didn't respond to it. It'd be like the Sox placing an ultimatum on, I dunno, Matt Thornton to sign a contract extension or something. What are they going to do, release him?
  4. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) Yea, we all would, but you know this is George W. Bush's fault. For it happening, for the drilling in deep water and not even employing the safeguards the rest of the world employs I can come up with plenty of blame (the 2001 Cheney task force wouldn't have had it any other way). For the current response, the only way I could come up with blame is that they didn't require adequate boom stored nearby prior to approving the drilling. But...considering that the guys deploying it have no idea or plan for how they're doing it, and the government isn't bothering to force them to do it right, that really wouldn't have mattered.
  5. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) lmao there cant possibly still be people here who think Brian Anderson was ever good.. I think he was quite good... in the minor leagues. I think he could have been a lot better with us...if he ever had a good teacher, and he didn't have a brick for a head.
  6. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 04:51 PM) BA could have been an All Star CF for us.....Kotsay is nothing but a Kotsay By CF you mean "relief pitcher"?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 04:37 PM) WTF just happened? I dunno but I'm pretty sure it helped Cleveland.
  8. Vizquel started to square when he threw to first.
  9. How in the world is the tarp not on there?
  10. Sigh.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) Did that dude get fired? Nope
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) I'm talking about a period of 10 years almost...not 2 weeks. Cleveland's had just as many playoff appearances as us since 2002.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) All I want for my birthday is a White Sox Winner, is that too much to ask? yes.
  14. For a nice comparison of how teams look when they're struggling, look at these Indians. Hawk's complimenting them, calling them Grinders right now, because they're fighting hard against us and beating us up. 2 weeks ago, one of their announcers lost it and gave an incredible rant about how terrible his team was and how they stank and didn't care. When you're losing badly, that's how you look.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) As long as he keeps some of that oil on his fingers for when he pitches... Can that really hurt?
  16. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) I think the Sox are something like 5-19 the game after they win a game. 4-19.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) Can't you wait until after next weekend to write this!! I'm waiting to see if they let Buehrle slide across the tarp if they coat the tarp with oil beforehand.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 03:49 PM) No way, part of the reason last year with him was so puzzling to me is I've always thought he had a great swing. About 4 years ago, I said he was the best young hitter in baseball, only to be informed he wasn't all that young. He'd have been waht, 25? That's still kinda young.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2010 -> 04:58 PM) Cubs in great position to catch up to the Cardinals in the standings after this weekend, as the Cardinals offense is really slowing down. Assuming the 'Stros can hold a 6-2 lead, the Cubs will be 2-6 since Fathom wrote this.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) Love that man...don't trade him! Bah, he hits a small slump in the 2nd half or next year and you'll be saying he's finished.
  21. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) cub is losing 6-2 I only bring this up as the BP Cup series begins Friday and any excitment for it is artificially going to need to be created by the media. I'm excited to see how they manage to deal with the small issue surrounding their sponsor.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) Omar gets the job done... *Crickets
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) But with Konerko at 1st, would he even score on a double? Depends on who's throwing and where the double is hit. He'd be off with the pitch. Worst case scenario then you have 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. Either way, unless it's a 1 run game, swinging on 3-0 and trying to hit a HR isn't a good formula for most guys. I could see it working for Jones, who swings for the fences anyway.
