NBA playoffs thread
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 11:03 PM) Vujacic should have got more time for the Lakers, he was doing some good things out there. There's a reason he didn't though. Vujacic was bad enough for most of the season that the Lakers crowds, who don't pay all that much attention in the regular season, were booing him every time he'd step on the court towards the end of the year.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) I haven't watched this game much tonight but I see the Lakers have out shot the Celtics by 23 or so from the free throw line. What's up with that? In the NBA, they call that "Home court advantage".

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) When you look into your sunglasses, a reflection of Obama appears. True story. Same with yours. Except...there's a lot of fire. Bunch of crucifixes and pitchforks. And scrolling profanity in the background.

The Suggested Moves / Who Goes/Stays thread
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) Exactly. I never had the ridiculous expectations for the kid as others have had. I expected him to be a "nice little player". Average defensively, decent but not great speed, decent average (.280ish), decent power (18-20HR) and generally good baseball IQ. But some, including many here had the kid as the next Robbie Alomar or George Brett and saw him as "untouchable." I thought the Sox could get a great value for him if they wanted to trade him this past offseason. He sure as hell looked to be a lot better than that last year. Hit 14 HR and 28 doubles in 2/3 of a season, and that was as a 22 year old rookie. As well as he drove the ball the other way last year and controlled the entire plate, he sure looked like a guy who could hit well over .300 and push 25-30+ HR.

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) So, does this mean they will lose on Tuesday? They have to start a winning streak eventually now is a good time as any. The Sox are 4-19 in the game after a win this season.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) Agreed. As I posted earlier, a few columnists reporters are saying he missed out on this type of thing for college and many think he wants the ego stroke that he missed out on. I think Nike wants it more than him.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) Is it me but doesn't Jenks seem to blow saves during the day...the Pirates and Jays come to mind as the two more recent bad ones ..... day games and the Orioles seem to get him You actually could not be more wrong. His splits are: 11.25 ERA in day games, 1.50 ERA in night games. 2.75 WHIP in day games, 1.33 in night games.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 05:15 PM) That'll pay off for this year, that's for sure. The odds are that Morneau will come back to Earth somewhat as the season goes on. .372 average, 1.176 OPS right now.

If You Want a Top Prospect
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) Which is why comparing their playoff appearances to ours over the same period is a pointless exercise. But ya know what? They've had almost as many seasons where they thought they had a shot that their team fell apart completely as we have, because they had a boatload of young guys. 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009. Sizemore, Hafner, Peralta, Carmona imploding, for example.

The environment thread
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) Actually, Bush's policies very well could have led to the oil disaster in the Gulf. After all, Bush and Cheney wanted to deregulate everything. They even deregulated the oil industry, and that's why there's so many lax quality controls in this disaster. BP was basically allowed to drill a well without any regulations by the government to ensure no disasterous oil leaks would happen, and this is all because of Bush's business-first policies. Policies which, I might add, the Obama administration has adopted, publicly supported, and continued.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 05:03 PM) Thornton has not been great his over the last week or so. ERA around 4 during that time. That's only because we're facing the Indians. The only 2 teams that have scored on him this year are the Yankees (2 runs in 1 game) and the Indians now (4 runs in at least 3 games).
