  1. Zootopia is an annual summer concert put on by New York top-40 radio station Z100.
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) Well if you really want to follow that line of thinking to its conclusion, just follow the cash. So you're saying G.S. and the rest of Wall Street run the country? Yeah, I'd buy that.
  3. QUOTE (ozzfest @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 12:39 PM) xavier nady or rick ankiel actually might be a nice fit.....anyone agree? Ankiel, I have a problem with the HGH. Otherwise, finding someone who can fill that role short-term who is basically an average player towards the bottom of our lineup doesn't sound like a bad thing to me.
  4. Now that I think about it, the best argument for why someone like PK might be movable despite the salary is the one I just gave; the guys who are available in the FA market are guys who really shouldn't be playing defense everyday. PK can still do that. If I'm someone like the Mets, I probably don't give up my top guy given his contract, but I might be willing to pay extra to avoid having a gaping hole there. Problem is...we'd be left with no one to fill the hole ourselves.
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 09:31 AM) I'd still prefer a better return for PK. Certainly, if dumping his money could assure a lateral move, i'd get on board, i'm just not sure it would. The biggest problem with dumping PK is that if we look at the 1b/DH types on the market, a lot of them could be had for decent salary...but I'm not sure there's any of them other than LaRoche that I think could handle being an everyday 1b without their body breaking down. Thome, Blalock, Delgado, Johnson, Branyan.
  6. QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 10, 2009 -> 07:34 AM) This was my first reaction. There is no way anyone could believe that Disney is about to sue a school over showing Disney movies to Disney's target audience, no matter the legality of it. It's possible that a few of them actually are lawyers for Disney.
  7. Wow, a high-end coffee discussion. You guys make me feel so poor and uncultured.
  8. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 07:38 PM) The dude hit 40 HR and plays 81 games in the best pitchers park in baseball. He is only 27 years old and his contract isn't up until after the 2011 season. I'd say he is definitley worth the prospects and the potential contract extension. He may at the same time be worth that price and paying that price would also devastate this team.
  9. A volcanologist. And I'm about 2 weeks away.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 06:14 PM) You think so? I think if anyone comes out looking s***ty it is UCF here. If this situation were reversed, I imagine Nike would do the same thing as Adidas, they dont want their direct competitor sharing the court either. Really? If UCF was told by Adidas that it was ok and then someone at Adidas overruled that decision, that isn't exactly the school's fault.
  11. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) mlbtraderumors suggests that the Sox go for Vlad as DH. They had us getting him in there top 50 prediction list. Vlad went down from a type A to a type B free agent. If they're going to put D2: the mighty Danks in the OF, that gives us AJ, Teahen, and D2 as regular LH batters. In that case, I could see Vlad fitting, but we'd still need someone to step up and hit RHP hard from the RH side unless Teahen can go nuts.
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) but what about his political affiliations, balta? There was a day in 2005 that I declared evolution didn't exist because Carl Everett won a game for us.
  13. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 04:42 PM) yea i agree. . i just hope it wouldn't be another one of those Brian Anderson situations where he would be the 'blackhole' of a pretty solid lineup. But i guess a year of him getting MLB experience couldn't hurt- especially when you have a guy like Jared Mitchell progressing in the minors. Maybe his name and the fact that he's a Lefty would be enough to keep him from being benched if he struggled.
  14. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) I wouldn't be suprised if Jordan Danks fills up that final outfield spot, while KW spends the rest of the winter patching up the bullpen and bringing in a left handed power hitter (Adrian Gonzalez). . . 2 weeks ago I'd have been shocked to hear talk of D2: the mighty danks taking over the OF spot. Then I was shocked when I saw the talk. Now, I wouldn't be all that surprised. I just hope we'd bring in a major bat to DH if we risk D2 in the 9 slot.
  15. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) They did the exact same thing with Gio. They knew how to get the most out of him, and didn't want to expose him by moving him up the organization, killing his value. Exactly. Hudson got the exact opposite treatment. He got the "This kid is going to be in the big leagues soon and its going to be with us" treatment.
  16. You know the one thing that argues to me against Hudson going anywhere? It's the difference between how they handled Carter and how they handled Hudson. Both carter and hudson were clearly better than their A-ball talent. Hudson got moved up, Carter didn't, even though they could have found a spot for him. Why? Because they wanted him to keep piling up the strikeouts so that another team would look at him and be trading for the minor league leader in K's. Hudson on the other hand, they didn't worry about his stats by having him have a bad start or two when he jumped up a level, when they thought he was ready to take on a challenge, he hit AA, AAA, and then the bigs in Sept. You could call about a month before Carter was gone that he was in line to be traded (pretty sure I said that personally). Hudson on the other hand, if we believe the rumors, was in the original Peavy deal and then KW pulled him out. I think that if anyone thinks Hudson's value is through the roof, it's the Sox. I would bet that you'd have to give up the moon to get him from us.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 03:41 PM) For starters, I would suggest that you please check the 3 or 4 other threads that are centered around Adrian Gonzalez. Secondly, that package doesn't even come close to touching what the Padres would want, and Alexei is as old or older than Adrian Gonzalez is right now. I honestly don't think the Sox are going to be serious players for Adrian Gonzalez, but I've been wrong before. Frankly, without knowing how the Padres GM views their scouting reports on Flowers and Hudson, I'd have difficulty believing they'd get a substantially better offer than that (unless they really think Hudson is over-blown or Flowers is a steroid product).
  18. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) i wonder what it would cost, realistically,( i dont believe how people say floyd/danks, beckham, hudson, etc all in one deal), to get gonzalez. i think we have what it takes to get him and hes not expensive this yr or next yr. and when he becomes a fa, we'll have more money to spend than we do now. so i guess its about what they want in return Realistically, I'd say a young possible top of the rotation starter and a couple of really good position player prospects. I.e. something like Buchholz, Tazawa, and another player from boston. From us, he might not be there yet, but if Hudson comes out and starts ripping apart AAA this year, then Hudson + Flowers might be that kind of a deal. Right now though I don't think Hudson is quite that highly prized, but he's moving up the charts quick.
  19. QUOTE (YASNY @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 02:41 PM) I can see Torointo getting that quality of a player, plus some youngsters, for Halladay. I just can't see them getting that from The White Sox. I don't know who would give it up. Not with a guy on a 1 year deal at age 32.
  20. QUOTE (YASNY @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) Ok ... I'll give you that. Danks, Floyd or Beckham. Regardless, I wouldn't do it because there'd have to be a lot more included than one of those players. If Toronto's asking for more than a guy of that level they're going to get burned again. That's like asking Boston to give up Lester, LAD to give up Kershaw, whatever. Not happening.
  21. Gosh, once again I have no idea what you're talking about, old-timer
  22. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Nov 9, 2009 -> 02:21 PM) Dotel and Dye are Type A free agents by the way. But neither of them will be offered arbitration, so it doesn't matter.
  23. Eerie, you let someone know where you live? Like from the government? That's crazy!
