The sad part about us missing this number this year...we were tied with the longest streak in history doing so...with the NY Yankees of exactly the same period, and now the Yankees are all but certain to hold that record alone.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 03:52 PM) That season though in 2005, Crede had 4 months where he posted +.800 OPS's, and it was only due to 2 real bad months he had, that he dragged his OPS down overall. I remember coming into the 2006 season telling people, the chances of Crede improving were good because of that statistic. Not saying that's going to happen again, but he's got some runs on the board there for mine. The problem of course is...one of those 2 months in question...the struggles were probably almost entirely due to the first occurrences of his back injury. If he's over that...he's got a chance to produce. But at this point, who knows.

QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 03:54 PM) Yes I think Uribe will be gone and they'll trade for an established SS. Furcal, Tejada, Renteria, someone like that. There really is a solid possibility that Renteria will be available this offseason, as the Braves to seem to have a replacement waiting and only 1 year left on ERent's deal. That said...if they're looking for Jon Garland for him, they won't get it from me, given that I think you have to value pitching significantly above position players.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 03:39 PM) Many of those poll questions are misleading. For example "Do you think congress should investigate the firings". I would answer yes, they should. Now change the question to "Do you think congress should endlessly investigate the firings even after no criminal activity was found?" or how about "Do you think partisan investigations should trump congress passing legislation". My answer would then be "no", as would many other of the respondents.I have a real urge to make a snide remark here regarding the record number of filibusters employed by the Republicans, but I believe I'll point that out here as the single biggest reason legislation has not been passed, and leave it at that.

It's up to Josh Fields...

Sheffield to the 15 day DL retroactive to the 22nd. Timo Perez recalled to take Sheff's roster spot.

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 03:24 PM) Can you blame them? I wouldn't want to be the target of some political witch hunt, it's much easier to resign and move on with your life. The dems are using 100% of their resources on bipartisan investigations. This plan may backfire, as congressional approval ratings have dipped to 18%. The remarkable thing about those Congressional polls is...when you ask people "why are you unhappy with Congress", the answer inevitably comes out that the Dems are going way too easy on the administration. In general, Congress has a lower rating amongst the party out of power and a higher rating among the party in power...but right now, the Dems are basically just as unhappy with the Congress...because solid pluralities and majorities think the Dems haven't done enough investigation of the administration and have done no where near enough to get us out of the debacle in Iraq.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) THERE WAS NO "CRIME" COMMITTED. But you all sure as hell want one to have been. Was it shady? Yep. But we've been through this before. This is the blood in the water to get even for Clinton's impeachment hearings... so we're going to investigate the s*** out of it until there's SOMETHING to talk about here, aren't we? Eh, I can still give you 3 possibles, at least 2 of which are still the subject of active investigations and which are being blocked at every possible level by the admin: 1. Hatch act violations 2. Violations of the Presidential Records Act 3. Violations of the Voting Rights Act

Senator Larry Craig convicted of lewd conduct in men's bathroom

And if that didn't pique your laughter senses... Naughty naughty Senator... -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) "Congress must get to the bottom of this mess and follow the facts where they lead, into the White House," said the Nevada Democrat. I f***ing HATE Harry Reid. What a f***tard. Because clearly...Alberto Gonzalez resigned to spend more time with his family. You know, for something with "no underlying crime" or "no connection to the White House", the U.S. attorney's scandal has drawn an AWFUL lot of blood from the Justice Department. Pretty much the entire leadership of that department seems to have resigned since that investigation began.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 01:15 PM) So why exactly was Fields taken out of the game. I'd assume defensive purposes @ the end of the game?
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 01:14 PM) Fields will hit 40 hrs if given a full season of work. Book it. 17 in 277 at bats...he's pretty much on that pace already.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 01:06 PM) Supposedly Hawk is having a muliple orgasm right now. Someone needs to show him the standings. He's not going to be able to sell this team to anyone right now, even if they win 15 in a row. Oh let him enjoy the game for once...it's not like he's had anything to celebrate lately.

Have we done that since 05?

And there's the "Yay we werent' shut out" solo shot

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 12:42 PM) Maybe if Houston swept the Sox in 2005 KW and Ozzie would be looking for jobs. I doubt it though. Without a W.S. win on their record and the dominant full-season performance in 05, I might consider it (let's also remember the Stros were merely a wild card team that year)

I wonder if that AFL spot might be for Anderson, but they're not putting his name specifically in it until they know if he's wrist-strong enough to be ready to play.
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 11:58 AM) who is that?
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 11:32 AM) Well, he'll be 43 and in shouting distance of A-Rod's career HR record as well as Henderson's SB record and Cy Young's Wins record so I suppose it's understandable. Who would have thought that a CF would be the one to truly master the gyroball?
-
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 11:30 AM) Old? Young? Sorry to hear either way. Mid 20's.
-
QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 11:28 AM) so when I go to Cooperstown, will there be a section roped off where they are going to put Chris Young's plaque in 20 years? In 20 years he'll still be playing.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) 2 k's and a pop out for Contreras in the first. Maybe he'll find his form the last 5 weeks. You mean, find the form he's had the last 5 weeks I assume?

Floyd will get a spot start tomorrow.
