When anti-vaxxers were refusing the measles vaccine, the people they're putting in jeopardy are themselves, and the occasional person who can't get the vaccine. Seems plausible to tar and feather them because it's far away. Antivaxxers refusing this vaccine are putting both themselves and everyone else in jeopardy. 40% of the population being able to get this virus, even in certain areas, means it will do a fine and dandy job of transmitting, creating new surges, and potentially creating variants that are more likely to break through the vaccines. If you want to tar and feather them again, fine - but at some point we do need a strategy that gets them to put the shot in their arm, and tarring and feathering doesn't obviously get us there. Also worth noting - vaccine passports are allowed and people are ok with them for measles. You're reporting that in most states if you want to register a kid for school, or travel internationally.

You know that scene in “Being John Malkovich” where he goes inside his own head and the only thing anyone can say is “Malkovich!”? The thread title with Madrigal written as. Complete sentence made me think of that. Whole team having conversations saying nothing but “Madrigal. Madrigal Madrigal? Madrigal Madrigal Madrigal. Madrigal!”

Cease to IL/Burdi Recalled - COVID symptoms but no positive test
Balta1701 replied to Big Hurtin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If he does test positive at any point, it would become a required 10 day minimum, with the possibility of losing other people due to contact tracing if they weren't careful. There is no minimum time for him, for him to come back he will need to be symptom free and test negative twice with 24 hours or more between tests. So, if he tests negative twice starting tomorrow and symptoms were gone, he could still start on Friday. https://www.thecubreporter.com/book/export/html/3538 -

JMO - Bieber looked better not because he was better but because the White Sox hitters didn't make him work as hard for the same outs. 8 pitch 8th inning, 7 pitch 2nd inning, 10 pitch 3rd (including a pickoff), in both cases keyed by the horrible bottom of the White Sox's order. Madrigal saw 5 pitches from Bieber. Neither one of them was giving up a thing, but one team got the starter to 100 pitches faster.

Against Luca$? No. That was a 50/50 game. Ace on Ace, and they both pitched like it.

White Sox running almost exactly MLB average payroll
Balta1701 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That White Sox fanbase spent the entire offseason b*tching about the lack of depth behind guys with injury histories, to the point that Rick Hahn himself decided he needed to call out the "hot takes" on it because we said it over and over and over. So maybe when the fanbase literally spent 2 months of the offseason saying "hey the lack of depth is a problem and you promised the money would be spent, here's a perfect spot to do so", we're not going to take "no one could have anticipated these injuries" very well. -
And there is nothing there that is going to convince me that they're being truthful at all. But I've said my bit.

Because it wasn't up to the team, it was up to the player to decide whether they wanted that information released. A player who has a multi-year deal is in a very different place from a guy who is still pre-arbitration. Mazara's side didn't want whether or not he had COVID coming up in contract discussions, and no team can legally ask him about it.

It would have been really, really nice to see the playoff team last year, see the possibilities of the next 5-7 years, and then not receive a LaRussa Shaped kick to the side of the head. -
And that "drop the subject" got ignored, so there y'all go.
-
"Strep." Like how all those deaths in Florida last May and June were classified as the "Flu".
-
Having the Mazara and Moncada experiences on this roster last year were likely important for this happening. There's 2 guys who had serious damage to their careers from the virus already.

Ok folks, let's put a lid on the religious discussion per the forum owners' rules to limit topics like that outside of sports.

His at bat last night was as good or better than anyone else’s against Bieber.

White Sox running almost exactly MLB average payroll

If we had to guess, we’d say that between the two we were hoping for 9, 10 WAR between them in several years? If they’re 1-2 at most, you wouldn’t be replacing that with an extra $20 million to spend. -

If those 2 aren’t able to live up to their top 5 prospect billing, their contracts won’t be the reason this team misses the playoffs. Rather, it will be that the team needed them to perform like all stars, and an extra $20 million a year to spend wouldn’t have been nearly enough to replace that.
