This does not make me happy.
-
In 2019, only 10 pitchers in all of MLB threw more than 80 innings as a reliever and Oakland was the only team with 2. You should start working on your post hoc justification for why this doesn’t happen now.
-
So whose innings is he taking? 40 inning seasons for each of Bummer and Hendricks?
-
And no one else in that bullpen threw more than 65.1. Did we sign Hendricks for 65 innings? Ok if Kopech throws 55?
-
Whoever just came in at 80-82 care to put your name to it?

I will go ahead and say 87, 2nd place, battle with the Cleveland baseball club and several others all year for the 2nd wild card.

The boldest part of this is Verlander being on the mound in July.

At what point does everyone realize that these are literally just this emoji in twitter form:
-
yeah but I was pretty specific that "a close race between the Twins and the White Sox" doesn't count.
-
If that even exists in 2022 - every time there's been a new CBA for the last 15 years they've rewritten the draft pick compensation rules I think.
-
Literally does not qualify based on the first post in the thread. U want to be bold? Bring it. Tell us they'll win 76 games and that will earn LaRussa a contract extension.
-
I'm not sure I believe this one, but can see the path where it's possible, so here goes. Ethan Katz will be fired at the end of the season.
-
White Sox are still a World Series Contender

Here's your chance to go on record with something emphatic. I don't want to hear in this thread how Minnesota and Chicago will come down to the wire or Luca$ Giolito will come in 2nd for the Cy Young in here - too many people expect that. This thread is for predicting 125 wins, or Tony LaRussa being fired midseason, or Luca$ winning 27 games, or the entire pitching staff coming down with COVID and it knocking the team out of contention. Have at it.

It's not like he can't cover those, but if Crochet has kept the game close, aren't we all giving the 8th inning to Bummer?

I guess in theory it could be possible to come up with that many short outings, but that's going to mean a lot of "pulling Cease or Rodon in the 3rd inning when they've given up 2 runs and there's another guy in scoring position", which really isn't great for those guys either, Cease especially. You're not going to want to pull Keuchel or Lynn that early even if they're having a bad day, it's not like they haven't worked through bad innings before, and there might be 1 game all year where you have to pull Giolito that early.
-
I think they’ve got Tony LaRussa as manager and he said he needs his best pitchers in the bullpen and he’s in charge so that’s his call. After all, it worked well for Wainright, so it will work well again. But you’re right, it’s ludicrous that they don’t have Kopech stretched out in AAA for when someone gets hurt. Also, there’s no way Crochet gets to 100 innings with this pen. Not with both Bummer and Hendricks out there. He’d have to be a nearly permanent opener to get those innings. I looked and in 2019 only 15 pitchers in baseball got 75+ innings out of the bullpen, and Hendricks was one of them.

Just remember the influence of the weld on this. Wandavision was supposed to be their second released series, Falcon and Winter Soldier was supposed to come first. Black Widow and Eternals were also supposed to have been released before Wandavision. The end of Wandavision was supposed to be 2 months before the next Dr Strange movie, which will include Wanda - the trailers should already have been on TV for that movie. So, the weirdness of the world over the last year is influencing how we are seeing these programs fit together.
-
I’m willing to bet that this bullpen is LaRussa saying he needs those guys now and getting his way. They’re going to wind up with both him and Crochet having pitched 60 innings this year and realize next offseason they can’t easily convert either of them to starters with that innings load.
-
I doubt you can find that many comps for Eloys deal or Roberts deal either. Very few teams are in a spot where this type of extension before they play makes sense, and a number of players (Boras clients) will never sign them. That doesn’t change it having been a good move for this franchise.

This is literally across the world from the example cited there.
