  1. If Colome doesn't get the job done here, it was the right call to have him in, how's that? There's no longer a chance of a save situation this game, he's available, and he's been reliable.
  2. And if you use the guys who have been decent, and you run out of pitchers because they have long innings or you go to extra innings, you did the best you could, now you rely on the rest of the guys and hope for the best.
  3. Why are the lowest performing guys in our bullpen getting chosen over guys who have performed better in high-leverage situations? If the guy who has an ERA of 2.70 doesn't get it done, he doesn't get it done. If you put in a guy who has an ERA of 6 in a 1 run game, aren't you expecting a tie? He is averaging 2/3 of a run per full innign.
  4. I love seeing the correct technique on the protection slide by Eloy.
  5. So you're projecting that Jerry Reinsdorf will approve a payroll increase of $20 million next year compared to the payroll on paper this year? I mean, he could. He could also demand a $20 million payroll cut.
  6. Yeah but everyone else slowly goes up. It really depends on whether JR really says "Cut payroll compared to this year" or not, which will depend on a whole lot of things in the offseason. If JR gives that command, then even if all of those things happen, they won't have much to spend, and if they took salary on right now they'd have nothing to spend without moving someone.
  7. I'm turning over it in my head and I'm thinking I might. You'd have Bieber through 2024. For an ace?
  8. You have fun with that call if it happens and fire back Jimenez for Bieber.
  9. If Detweiler came in and got in trouble and you didn't have any other options ready to go so you went to Burdi hoping he could give you something that's one thing, but seriously what on Earth did Detweiler do to Renteria where he won't even give him the shot when he's due to pitch?
  10. If the White Sox weren't willing to talk about him, there wouldn't be whispers around them being interested in the players being whispered about.
  11. There’s a time and a place to use him and it’s not in a 1 run game when you have Detweiler in the pen having not thrown in several days. It’s also not leaving him out there as trouble builds on a tie game.
  12. There's an awful lot of talk about 76ers assistant Ime Udoka as a top candidate for the Bulls.
  13. Never mind, the 481 cases were Tuesday to Thursday alone. 1% of the campus tested positive in 3 days. 1200 students and 180 staff. Northern Illinois has a good solid outbreak now. The “report once a week and bury it on a weekend” strategy is holding for these schools so far. https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/clarissajanlim/university-of-alabama-students-coronavirus
  14. I think a lot of that comes from a .356 OBP out of the catcher's spot for a lot of games. That's a positive wRC+ from a very weak position.
  15. We'll see about that before the end. A whole lot of his value has always been tied up in framing and we're not really getting that right now.
  16. And $9 million to the payroll. Whether that matters or not I don’t know, but it darn well could. If they had to cut payroll by 10% next year, they’d basically already be at that number if they let both Rodon and Mazara walk with that contract.
  17. To be fair, there are NASA planetary scientists who will spend an hour explaining to you why that is the case.
  18. Destroy? No. Potentially be very costly? To the point it could be a difference maker as soon as next year? Given the situation this year, there’s a really good chance that it could hurt us badly.
  19. If we have to cut payroll substantially because of the virus, ditto Vaughn and Dunning. Where are you coming up with depth if you have to cut payroll next year?
  20. 1% of the school is getting it per week. Statistically they’ve almost certainly killed a student already, potentially several.
