  1. The best QB last year was what, a 10th pick? If they are really after another QB there will absolutely be guys available in the 10-25 range. It won't be Tua, but it will be Reich's job to develop whatever they come up with.
  2. The White Sox weren't even used as leverage, they weren't in the lists of teams being leaked as having met with Boras in February. That was the Giants, Phillies, Dodgers I believe.
  3. If we're asking that question at this time next year then that means we are 1-2 games out of the playoff race/1-2 games out of the division race. I'm ok with that.
  4. One of our previous lessons that I wish the franchise would have learned (And I fear they did not) is that the middle part of the Free Agent market, positional players, that area has for the last decade been an absolute wasteland. I haven't looked at the numbers this year, but in 2018, out of guys who signed for deals between $10-$25 million annual value, something like 50-75% underperformed what they were being paid. I think the numbers are a little better this year, but that part of the FA market is just genuinely bad. meanwhile, out of the top level on the FA market you have guys like Greinke, Scherzer, Verlander - they're expensive but you get what you're paying for and the player remains movable even 5 years into the deal. There are some iffy ones like Price, but compare the very top guys to the next level and the very top guys are far more likely to be worth their money.
  5. Liriano and Nova both had some of their best parts of their career after moving to Pitt. Glasnow and Cole seemingly had to leave to hit their ceilings.
  6. Not exactly, the 2 seam fastball works for some guys but not for others. Both Verlander and Cole I believe were basically instructed to drop the pitch when they got to Houston as their 4 seam fastball was more effective.
  7. And that's something he almost certainly shared with the team, probably even last year.
  8. A "Cautionary tale", from 4 playoff appearances in a row and 1 world series trophy? Please do exactly that.
  9. From what it sounded like in talk before the season started, he made it sound like the one thing he didn't want to do was another unending rehab - not just rehab, but what happened with his shoulder was it was a rehab that failed, a rehab that failed, a surgery, and then what, another 1-2 surgeries? Stuff that dragged on and was unending, with no real answers. His ankle? A few months ago it was a minor ankle sprain, then it was a high ankle sprain, then he's out for week 1, then we really don't know how long he's out for....same setup.
  10. Well, at the same time as we have RH generically saying "we should have room to be more active this offseason" or whatever he said, we have the FO basically saying "naw we're not going after the top guy at all". For people who have Stockholm Syndrome, that line by Stone is a guest appearance by their kidnapper.
  11. We're not sure about that, TBH. Some of this stuff takes decades to show up.
  12. Just like the Tigers were stuck with Verlander, the Diamondbacks stuck with Greinke, the Yankees stuck with Sabathia, the Dodgers were stuck with that Kershaw guy.
  13. Did you just simultaneously go misogynist and insult an entire generation for not wanting mouth cancer?
  14. yeah my bad, was talking about 2021, which is the year Colome and McCann are also free agents as well so that's why those 3 guys are relevant to McCann and Colome, minor typo but you're correct.
  15. He's one of those guys we've seemingly talked about for years, and would fit with the ol "KW always gets his guy" thing that we had for about a decade.
  16. Stock market up? So wait, he was trending upward then everything fell apart based on a tweet?
  17. Literally no one wants that but since you haven't paid attention in the thread why bother.
  18. No one the White Sox would be willing to trade. You're not getting him without a high level talent as a centerpiece, a back end top 100 guy at least, and the White Sox aren't giving up Madrigal, Vaughn, or anyone better for him. The other guys have too many questions right now, injury and/or struggles for part of the year at AA, for the Mets to even really consider it if you packaged 2 of them together. Our system right now has a couple of really high guys at the top and then a lot of question marks after that top 5. There's hopefully some good players after those top guys, but neither I nor the Mets can really guess who they will be.
  19. I think your card info was still breached.
  20. His numbers in 2017, including time in both Arizona and Detroit, were phenomenal. 167 wRC+ that year, 170 in 2018, 139 this year. In a down year in 2015 he still had an .878 OPS in that big detroit ballpark, so his bad years rival Abreu's best years.
  21. A guy who is under control for 2 years is not more beneficial to this team's current construction than a guy under control for 5 years. Wasn't at the time, still isn't.
  22. Apparently Moviepass had a data breach this week if anyone used that.
  23. The Rays brought Blake Snell up on April 15.
  24. They're going to boost payroll, we all agree on that. But we also aren't convinced that they'll come up with difference makers when we saw what they did with $40 million+ in new spending this past offseason.
  25. Apparently baseball prospectus has in the last couple weeks put its catcher stats behind a paywall, but last time I looked, Narvaez was substantially improved from last year. Bad, but not awful. And last offseason people kept screaming at me "You must only use BP stats for catchers because they take into account Framing". Everyone forgot about that with McCann because his framing stats are also quite poor.
