  1. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 11:47 AM) Any chance of a rainout? I want to see BASEBALL. The rain chances around game time rise to a whopping ~10%.
  2. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 10:39 AM) Anyone know the best way to stream this through a phone? Does the NBC Sports app allow it? I also was looking through the Directtv app. I can't tell if it will be available for streaming on either. Last year Mlb.tv was free for at least a couple days to start the year, but it would not stream through my phone without a full MLB.tv subscription. I managed to stream opening day during one of the free games through a laptop by logging in with my name, but the phone was blocked. The sports subscriptions wont' help you unless you have an MLB account and MLB.tv paid for. If you have an MLB.com account even without it paid for, try opening the MLB.com app and logging in, that's your best bet IMO. I'm not going to be subscribing this year because there's a good chance I have to move again and not being able to watch for a month while unpacking is annoying, but I'll be a subscriber again in 2019. I may buy the month to month package when the mutant gets called up.
  3. Eloy Jiminez walks to the mound and devours a pitcher. Leaves behind the bones for other scavengers.
  4. @FlannyMLB Salvy Perez slipped last night carrying his luggage and has MCL tear. Out 4-6 weeks.
  5. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 03:55 PM) 77-85 record I'll go with the exact same number because it precisely splits the win totals from the successful competitive 2016 and 2015 campaigns.
  6. Abreu Under Davidson Over Moncada Over Garcia Under Anderson Under Welington spells his name with 1 l? who knew. Over.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 03:26 PM) Hansen *did*, I doubt they'd push him that aggressively considering the forearm now. IF he has a good year and could still use some innings in September, the big leagues are the only squad still playing.
  8. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 11:28 AM) Holdon...Am I reading this right? Cease pitched across 3 teams in 2017... totaling over 180 innings pitched... 2 wins,20 loss? LOL......250 strike outs? Mid 3.s era? You are not reading this right. Are you adding the "2017 total" line to the lines for each team he pitched for? He pitched only for South Bend (Cubs A Ball) and Kannapolis (Sox A Ball). 1-10 win/loss record, 22 starts.
  9. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 11:22 AM) Conditioning? I never even though about that. Hadn't even looked up his numbers. Good points Balta. I hope he isn't destined for the pen, I just see a kid with amazing potential when I watched him this spring. He's had various injuries including Tommy John Surgery a couple years ago, so there's every reason to take our time working with his arm. The stuff is there. There's a big time starter in there, if his arm and body hold together, but we can't push this. Some stints in the bullpen in late 2019 (think David Price for the Rays in 08) wouldn't be a bad thing if we can get him to that point, but we have to balance that with caution.
  10. The biggest issue for him by far is conditioning. Last year with the Cubs and Sox orgs he threw 93.1 total innings. That is, for a starter, a miniscule number. If he stays healthy, he needs a full 2018 and a full 2019 season to build up that arm, and that's assuming no setbacks. If there are no setbacks, kid stays healthy for the next 2 years, then you could talk to me about a September or late 2019 callup. If he puts in a full minor league season, I could give him a couple of major league starts or use him in the bullpen in late 2019. If he's joining the starting rotation in 2019 out of ST after only throwing 120 innings this year, I'm going to say that something went very wrong, and he won't be there for long.
  11. Surprise: Yolmer Sanchez is good enough that we're questioning why we'd want to replace him next offseason. Disappointment: Tim Anderson is bad enough that we're questioning whether he's a big leaguer next offseason. Dark Horse: Carson Fulmer. I think the 2016 callup did way more damage to this kid's preparation than we think, but he's starting to get to the point where he might realize he has the stuff to be a big leaguer and he's starting to trust that stuff, rather than overthrowing everything. I think he'll struggle early, but if we stick with him there could be a breakout in the 2nd half.

  13. Who the **** are you people and why is this thing in my bookmarks? What is going on here?
  14. The North American Release date bumps up a week to April 27 (apparently as a favor for Tony Stark).
  15. QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Feb 25, 2018 -> 03:17 PM) Because championship teams also plug holes. If it's a three year deal on a reasonable AAV something like 3/33 I'd do it Plug the holes..when you're sure they're the right holes to plug. Treat our franchise like a blown tire right now; you don't just start applying patches to areas that you think look weird, you check for the location of the hole first before you plug it.
  16. That's a sensible landing spot for him. They have some options if he doesn't work out, but if he does - they were already a playoff team last year. Makes a lot more sense than for us.
  17. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 24, 2018 -> 09:33 PM) Kinda on the fence with this. I prefer to keep the DH spot open to rotate outfielders but Morrison is a very interesting idea and a much better idea than CarGo. Morrison could actually net the Sox something of quality at the trade deadline or could even provide a potential long term solution at 1B/DH to pair with Abreu. If the Sox were to sign him, I'd hope it's a one year deal with a second year option. Good idea guys. Play the kids. .858 OPS in a career year for Morisson. Can you tell me for sure that he can repeat that next year and that neither Delmonico nor Davidson can do that next year for less money with 4-5 more years of control? Because I'd rather see if one of the kids can.
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 24, 2018 -> 05:52 PM) That was at the end of the rebuild. 2019 is the end of ours. The Cubs's rebuild ended in 2015, they won 96 games, the 2nd wild card, and were Daniel Murphy turning into God away from the World Series. If the White Sox aren't looking at something comparable in 2019, it's because they did worse than the Cubs at the same point.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 24, 2018 -> 07:50 PM) Better comp is Matt Albers running the bases. He’s definitely “stout.” I was thinking Matt Adams or Pablo Sandoval. If he's at 3b we need a Sandoval like nickname for him, mercy. I thought he was in better shape than that from the IG clips.
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 24, 2018 -> 05:41 PM) I’m convinced you’re trying to jinx us with this unfiltered confidence. I'm so not used to being confident about the White Sox's chances that I'm really, really enjoying the idea of this 2020 team.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 24, 2018 -> 07:05 PM) Burger lashes a high outside FB to RF, ends up with triple on missed dive by fielder. Wheels Burger. Ran out of gas. Robert overmatched, this guy throws mid to high 90s, former Yankees’ prospect. Sac fly Rendon, 5-3. Man Burger is huge in lower body, but still moves fairly well. Elmore with two fairly weak singles, May walk and a single. For once thank you for all the names. I could not tell that was Robert as I never saw the name on the jersey.
  22. QUOTE (Scoots @ Feb 24, 2018 -> 07:02 PM) Burger running around the bases looking like Bartolo Colon Was that actually Jake Burger? My god he's enormous. I had no idea he was that big. I'd drop him on a prospect list just for looking like that. Do we have someone else named Burger that could have been? H Christ.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 24, 2018 -> 05:07 PM) All it takes is one team. If you are the Yankees, and know the guy grew up a huge Yankees fan and has always wanted to play for you, and know the chances of him leaving you are more likely smaller than other teams, if that got the deal done, I am pretty sure they do it. Some teams may use the logic Balta used and say if he leaves we can redirect that money elsewhere. Who knows, maybe even the White Sox. The same logic applies the other way though; if you only have him for 2 years, that leaves you a 2 year window to win your title, and there are going to be other teams that are a force during those years like the White Sox. That logic will hit even the Yankees.
  24. QUOTE (WBWSF @ Feb 24, 2018 -> 04:57 PM) Because the White Sox are not going to spend the money this year nor next year. Their payroll in 2019 counting even Abreu, Garcia, and Arbitration guys is about $40-$45 million. If they don't spend anything next offseason, there was little point to this rebuild.
