  1. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 04:59 PM) Hillary just came on TV and said this was all due to a Julia Ormond movie released in 1995 I drop by to check on Samardzija's status as this is going on, see that you still think dead people are hilarious, and I'm out again.
  2. Soccer game going on at time of explosion televised, can listen to one of them happen here.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 7, 2015 -> 08:48 AM) Ben Carson claimed in writing that he was offered and turned down a full scholarship to West point. There is no record of this ever happening. Compare it to his multiple other crazy personal lies and it seems like he's a serial liar who needs to puff up his own story Ben Carson claims that, while at Starfleet Academy, he successfully rescued the crew of the Kobayashi Maru.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 03:54 PM) What's with all the gotcha Journalism surrounding Ben Carson? Man they are out to get him and no outrage. I didn't realize the Republican party was hated as badly as it is. They're just paving the smooth road for Hillary with all this. As far as this story ... so far I'm not enraged by it cause all politicians lie (cop out but true). Just like all major college and pro coaches lie. They just do. Missed all your outrage when the NYT made up then basically retracted a story about how Hillary was "Under DOJ investigation" when it wasn't Hillary and it wasn't under investigation.
  5. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 06:11 PM) For me he's a bridge to Trey at third. I thought the same thing but if his price is 3/$30 I'm no where close to interested. I'd rather play Davidson than pay that kind of money.
  6. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 6, 2015 -> 06:12 PM) With them getting a comp pick where they are going to get them I can understand why there were some here that were saying it would have been better to get any low level prospect from anyone in a trade last season. Clearly there is a lot of value in getting a pick sandwiched between the first two rounds...like a lot of value. It's nice, but it remains inaccurate to call it "a lot of value" IMO. If you nail it the pick can be great, but the average pick is still ~2 WAR for their career in the sandwich round and that means the median is even less than that.
  7. I haven't tried one, but there are now controllers for charcoal grills that regulate the airflow onto the charcoal and allow you to take something like a Weber and turn it into a pretty constant temperature device. That linked one is just the first one I saw on Google.
  8. Random science rant. Many of you probably heard of the "World Health Organization classifies processed meats in same category as causing cancer as cigarettes". This has been driving me nuts all week and it's a terrible failure of science communication. The WHO setup classifies things based on "how certain they are", not "how much the risk actually increases". Here's an example: if using a product causes a 100% cancer rate and the WHO could scientifically guarantee that using that product leads to a 100% incidence of getting cancer, that product would be put in the same category as cigarettes because we're certain that it causes cancer. If a product causes 50% of its users to get cancer, but the science hasn't fully established the link yet, that product would be classified in a lower level than cigarettes and processed meat. In other words, the press statement said "Processed meats put in same category as cigarettes", but being in that category said nothing about how using those products actually changed the risk of cancer. The increase is well established enough to call it certain, but it's a very tiny increase and the exact mechanisms aren't fully understood and there are lots of things like exercise that can push against it. If there was someone out there who thought eating italian sausage was good for them then maybe there's some use in presenting it that way, but seems more likely that people are just going to say "heck with that" and ignore other recommendations (exercise, vegetables, etc.) on those grounds than anything else. End rant.
  9. QUOTE (Baron @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) That or sign him to an extension. This is like Lovie I believe it was in 2009. Sitting on a 1 year deal and really Mike Martz was the only one who wanted the job as OC. Lovie if he didnt make the NFC Championship game was probably going to get fired. In 2014 RV didn't get his extension until January.
  10. Hmmm, David Aldridge interviewing Obama at the UC. This is a slightly higher rank than his typical sideline interviewee.
  11. So I see Rose lasted 15 minutes of game time before getting hurt. This is an improvement compared to the preseason. No I'm not joking.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 04:37 PM) I know somebody who got brutally murdered and had no way of defending herself. I know how it ruined her mom's life and dad's life. Luckily her sister recovered and has a husband and two kids. But I'm sick of people with weapons butchering people with no chance to save their lives. And now I get ready for 5 p.m. Mass and will check this thread later, hopefully with some supporting me. Bye. I'm sick of thousands of people being butchered because people like you fantasize about how you'll heroically defend yourself in order to make you feel better and more important. And I don't want to have to deal with that because of your fantasy.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 04:29 PM) Sorry. I erred in my wording. If the person comes in guns blazing and threatens the class or me. Yes I can kill him/her. My life is precious. If some nut has a gun and I don't ... UNFAIR. I'm dead forever. Let me have a chance to protect myself. If the guy with the gun is only pulling a prank, it's a very bad prank and hopefully I only shot him in the leg in that scenario then tackled him. So now you give us the fantasy of shooting somehow to wound but not kill. Pathetic.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 04:24 PM) As soon as the loonie bird comes in the room and takes over the class with a gun you can shoot to kill. I guess there's a 1 percent chance it could be a prank, but pranksters shouldn't go there. If somebody barges into classroom with gun or guns, kill him/her. These incidents are growing at an alarming rate; why can't we save our own lives?? So if someone comes into my class with a gun I can kill them. Good, so what we need to do is allow concealed weapons in classrooms. Therefore I can shoot those students who are carrying when they come in. Your words.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 04:18 PM) What do you mean? If you are at the front of the class, the lunatic killer will probably get you first. Devil's advocate please. Put yourselves in the situation. Don't you want a chance to kill the coward intruder?? We've got more and more of these incidents. Why can't we fight for our lives. We are talking being killed here. Gone forever. Why must I be left to be slaughtered. Give me a fighting chance to kill before being killed. Isn't that only fair?? Please, can you detail for me which conditions it is ok for me to shoot a student? You've clearly outlined that I should shoot first - I'm the one going to get shot so I should defend myself. Which student should I shoot tomorrow?
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 25, 2015 -> 04:10 PM) At least Texas will give these kids a chance to live. If a nutjob brings in a gun and starts executing people, you have a fighting chance to live. Devil's advocate in me says we all have a right to protect ourselves from lunatics who want to commit mass murder. The worst feeling would be to be one of those crisis situations with no gun. In that situation you are killed at the hands of a coward with no means of fighting back. From the perspective of the person at the front of the class, F*** no F*** no absolutely not and you're going to get me killed. Go away.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 23, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) This is where the media steps up (where need be) for the Democratic presidential candidates. Yes they'll take a shot at Obama or Hillary when it doesn't matter, but when there's a potential difference maker in the electability of their beloved Democratic candidate for president, they go in attack mode. By the time the coverage of this is over, Hillary will be such a saint. She is the one being attacked by the big bad Republicans and persecuted and yet she exhibited such class, etc. This is one of those moments the Democratic media bring it for their candidate cause they know she needs the support. They try to hide their bias but when the going gets tough, the media comes out for Hilly/Obama/fill in the democratic presidential candidate blank. Gore was such a bozo it was hard for them to even get him the crown, though he did win the popular vote. Even Al Gore. WOW Hillary makes me laugh; even in a somber hearing she's caught on tape saying she's in Katy Perry mode and gotta get to the concert. She deserves credit though; she knows the politics game and assuredly will be coronated Ms. President in a legal landslide. This rant is so light on details other than "I hate Hillary and will string angry words together" that it could well have fit in the hearings. You've provided a perfect example. Congrats.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 23, 2015 -> 11:03 PM) Osuna was down 3-0 against Moustakas and recovered to keep from getting blown out of the inning completely. The Royals with the best pen in the game will have to blow two saves in one game in order not to get to the World Series. They're tryin
  19. Daniel Murphy is the greatest thing ever.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 05:01 PM) I'd be angry but the job he's done with this no talent squad is damn good. If he turns out to be a coach who can't get a great team over the hump because of shortcomings like conservative playcalling...you really can't be mad at him because he'll have taken this team from being a dumpster fire to being a great team needing to get over the hump.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) Seriously is this actually going to be on Gould's leg for OT? When I wrote this comment I was expecting it to be a nearly 50 yard kick. Then it became less of a question.
