Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
NCsoxfan replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 10:14 AM) as opposed to praying that everyone who was signed over the offseason finds the fountain of youth and is able to recreate their career season I'm on board with what we're doing, just saying there's a lot of excitement now which will dissipate into something different (the hope that prospects will pan out) -
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2016-al-hit...-al-shortstops/ Rookie Tim Anderson impacted the baseball significantly harder than most of the shortstops in the nether regions of this list, but was done in by horrific K and BB rates. His raw numbers create the illusion of a respectable season with the bat, but the exit-speed and launch-angle data simply don’t support it. The difference between his Unadjusted and Adjusted Contact Scores is sizable across BIP types: 115 to 94 for fly balls, 130 to 94 for liners, 142 to 96 for grounders, and 128 to 96 overall. Plus, his K and BB rates were awful throughout his minor-league career, as well. Defense, of course, will play into whether he keeps his job over the long haul, but I’m not terribly optimistic about his bat.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go

QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 09:03 AM) Am I the only one who is obsessed right now? I keep refreshing mlbtr and this thread. I need this resolved soon so I can get back to my normal life. I can't imagine how Hahn feels. Enjoy it, once these trades are all made, we're going to have nothing to do but pray these guys pan out. -

QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:42 PM) Houston saying that Tucker is nearly untouchable. Complete BS. Tucker isn't an elite top 10 prospect yet. This whole "untouchable" phrase has gotten laughable this winter -

Houston needs a TOP badly. They'd get mauled in the playoffs with McHugh and other clowns -
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:42 AM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 30s31 seconds ago Dan Hayes Retweeted Mark Zuckerman Nats and #WhiteSox reportedly continuing to have more dialogue. More on trade interest in WSox relievers shortly. Unfu$%ingbelievable that Rizzo wasn't able to get Hahn to include Robertson in the Eaton trade.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
NCsoxfan replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 10:03 AM) The guy who sits next to me at work is a Nats fan and thinks Giolito is going to flame out, will never be more than a 4th starter. idk, I'm inclined to think if that was true, it's less likely to happen with the Sox as it is the Nats, because the Sox as an organization have a very good track record of developing young pitchers both from the farm and in guys they acquired elsewhere. That's kind of the beauty of this trade, we don't need Giolito to even become a star to win the trade or break even. With the return we got, and the player that was dealt, I think there's much less risk of taking Giolito (compared to for Sale, etc) -

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 09:29 AM) If Houston wouldn't trade Bregman for Sale, they aren't going to move him for Quintana. I'd be very pleased with a Houston return of Martes, Tucker, Fisher, and Cameron. Exactly the return I want, and one that seems justified by this week's comps -
Was said that Covey pitched well in the AFL and the A's thought highly of him

QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:53 PM) Does Jones have any experience closing games? If not, his trade value will not be super-high right now. I'd rather hold on to Jones and see how he does as a closer once Robertson is dealt. Then trade him before age begins to erode his effectiveness. No him not being a closer doesn't impact his value. -
Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+

QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 10:51 PM) The #WhiteSox kept asking for #RedSox 3B Rafael Dever in Chris Sale trade, but the RedSox refused. Compromise: Victor Diaz and Luis Basabe. Check out @BNightengale's Tweet: https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/806...0049196032?s=09 This is a minor disappointment but hard to complain. I might have taken Devers over Kopech TBH. -

There's now two comps for Houston to chew on. They're going to have to bite the bullet and give us a load of prospects or roll the dice with mediocre pitching -

Should the White Sox Slow Down on the Rebuilding Trades?

Hahn can be selective now after getting big returns in the first two deals. The pressure is off which is great. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:35 PM) A lot more than I will enjoy the next two or three years. There's a lot of 76 win teams out there to root for. They're not in short supply and they're not fun to watch -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:32 PM) Rizzo seemed pretty hellbent on cashing in on Giolito this week. I guess when you are rebuilding you probably just go for best package and not focus too much on position, but one thing I agree with ss2k5 on, is I would prefer them acquiring high end position players. Worry about the pitchers later when you are ready. For Sale? That's a disaster. For Eaton along with Lopez? That's great optionality. -

Sox fleeced the Nats here, really no other way to say it -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 05:11 PM) Q is the only one of any value. That's it. That's not true at all. Nate Jones will be in high demand as well with his stuff and contract. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) Ok, no, you don't post the thread saying "Eaton to Nationals" until there is an official post from one of these guys saying the trade is done. That is not what this tweet says. This -

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:33 PM) Let's go over this again... "Heyward was signed as a 25 year old." "Eaton will be traded as a 28 year old." Established 25 year olds with plus tools have more value than established 28 year olds with limited tools. Poll 30 MLB GM's and ask them which player has more potential. I think you're going to get a pretty clear cut idea. There's nothing to indicate that Heyward is still developing or has "potential" after 7 full seasons in the big leagues. What you see for both is basically the best of what you'll get. -

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:10 PM) Not sure how this deal is possible without Turner, Giolito and Robles. Otherwise I want Ross, Giolito, Robles, Lopez and my pick of 5-6 other prospects. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I hate hate hate the prospect of Giolito being a large part of any return. As the Fangraphs article stated, he was downright awful in the big leagues and had issues getting strikeouts in the high minors too. -
As Olney alluded to today, there might be a better market for Frazier and Abreu at mid year as there's a bunch of slugger types on the market now

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) I would not be shocked if Rodon gets moved. There have been little hints about it in the past, even yesterday when RH was talking about Sale he said he has "others" that fit the description of front line pitchers that teams can plug into playoff rotations. I know that Rodon seems like the kind of asset you hang on to, but given his agent and his performance in the second half, I could see the Sox moving him to try to build a core at the lower levels. Kopech is likely two years away as is Hansen, Burdi would be too if they decide to make him a starter. If they get the right deal for him, I think Rodon could get moved soon as well. So we're going to move a 23yr old guy with 5 years of control & massive upside for someone else with 5/6 years of control? This makes little sense to me, especially since I don't see anyone overpaying for Rodon right now. Hahn just mentioned Anderson and Rodon yesterday as two players to be building around. -

I have zero interest in Giolito from his mid year performance and concerning Fangraphs article. I would rather have Lopez/Robles
