  1. I hate hate hate that I see some talks on this board and other places that a fair deal for Q won't include Moncada or a major piece from the ML roster. The guy is a legitimate ace that's under control for 4 more years. It's almost like now some are itching to trade him for the he!! of it. A package of Benintendi, Kopech, and other prospects not named Moncada is a bad deal on paper for us. That is wayyy too light. I really hope Hahn doesn't budge here.
  2. Sounds like NYY will get 4 prospects from the Cubs including Torres
  3. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) Moncada doesn't happen without Sale. I think Q gets you 2 of Benintendi, Kopech and Devers, with some one like Swihart and a mid level guy, which I think would be a fair deal for us. If that's the case i really hope we don't trade Q. Those are good players but it's not an overwhelming package at all.
  4. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 04:42 PM) Well duh lol. I still want their top prospects. Of course, I just think too many (mostly Boston fans) think these are sure fire prospects. There's always some risk
  5. It's just one game but today Moncada & Benintendi combined for 0-9. Moncada was 0-5 with 5K's. Faced a 29y old journey man with a 4.01 lifetime era in the minors. One game but nothing is guaranteed!
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 01:18 PM) Rangers GM Jon Daniels talked about rentals today for their pitching needs. Seems they dont like the prices of the starters from us or Tampa. Rentals is the wrong phrase
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 11:16 AM) Levine mentioned the Nationals as maybe having interest. They have enough prospects to make a deal. Reunite Turner and Rodon! Dream come true for a NC State alum like myself
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 09:14 PM) I fully support Chris Sale on this. The way our organization is run right now is a disgrace. This is a very dismal time for the White Sox. The team is going nowhere and Sale is one of the very very rare bright spots. If he's totally uncomfortable wearing those uniforms he should not pitch in them. Good for him. I'm sure nobody asked the players if they were OK with them and on the same page. The five prospects we get for him better be pretty damn good. It's part of the collective bargaining agreement that you have to wear what the team decides & that the players have no say in it. It's a pretty black and white issue tbh. There's no backing Chris here, sorry.
  9. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 08:32 PM) uh...Why? It shouldn't matter. Distraction, probably feeling like they don't want to be forced to dump him after this silly incident. Hope it doesn't impact it.
  10. Feels like this sabotages any potential trade (at least for the time being)
  11. Live look inside the white sox clubhouse http://giphy.com/gifs/nLhdSinRtaL2E/html5
  12. It sure feels like he's going to get traded
  13. This organization is a dumpster fire right now. I'm sorry.
  14. Way to hit his trade value Hahn? At least make it sound better!
  15. As trade talks pick up around Chris Sale, #WhiteSox scratch him from tonight's start. Matt Albers will go instead.
  16. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) I think trading two high quality pitchers is ridiculous, but let's consider a 1990's style mega deal with the Rangers... White Sox get: Gallo, Mazara, Odor or Profar and 3-4 top prospects. Rangers get: Sale, Quintana, Frazier You could take their whole farm system & it's not enough for both Q & Sale
  17. Guy on Twitter told me Boston would be crazy to trade Moncada who is a "Hall of fame talent". Maybe he will be but anointing minor leaguers before they step foot in the big leagues is a joke. They all overvalue their own prospects
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) I don't. If they did they wouldn't give you much else. Add $63 million to Sales salary the next few years for what would be Bostons true cost, and suddenly he isn't as huge of a bargain. Moncadas payoff is if he is a star right away. Dombrowski would do a 1 for 1 deal in a heartbeat. No questions asked. Signing bonus is a sunk cost at this point, already paid and irrelevant to this.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 12:01 AM) You know I am not in favor of trading Sale. I am in favor of selling selling. It makes no sense. What you do is keep Sale and Q and Abreu and Eaton and Anderson and absolutley trade everybody else and try again. It's almost too late already. We're waiting too long again this year and I don't like it. If we do that we won't get any premium prospects. That's not really selling. That's reshuffling the supporting cast & ending up a different shade of mediocre.
  20. Thoughts on Quintana to the Pirates for (BA rankings): 6. Tyler Glasnow rhp Pirates Glasnow’s control still wavers, but almost no one ever squares him up. 10. Austin Meadows of Pirates Meadows is almost big league-ready, although it’s hard to figure where the Pirates can fit him in. 38. Josh Bell 1b Pirates Defense remains in question, but offensively Bell remains a force with .324/.407/.535 slash line.
  21. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) Jon Heyman‏ @JonHeyman The #WhiteSox are at least listening on offers for Sale and Quintana, with the #RedSox among many interested parties Whether they're dealt or not, this is a huge change in posture. DYING to know what the offers are.
  22. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 12:30 PM) That's not even a comparable situation at all though. When the Mariners traded RJ he had two months left on his contract and they were completely out of contention. He then signed a massive contract in the off season so the Mariners probably would have lost him anyways. Clearly very different from a contract (and age) perspective. Just showing an example of future WAR versus what was obtained in return.
  23. Trading Sale scares me to be honest. I was looking back at the Randy Johnson trade in 1998. Seattle didn't do bad getting Garcia, Guillen and Halama. They went on to combine for 33.3 WAR in a Seattle uniform. That being said, RJ's next 7 seasons of WAR were 9,8,10,11,1,9,6. And RJ was traded at age 34! Obviously he's an anomaly, but still, makes you think.
  24. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) This is loose conjecture and my own analysis. Take it for what you want. I really can't elaborate on more than I am saying. I don't think the Sox will trade Sale. I am not ruling it out, but I'd be pretty much shocked. I don't seem them moving Frazier/Melky/Lawrie but that's more of a guess. The guys that I expect them to have deep conversations about are Quintana/Robertson/Duke. Dodgers, Rangers and Red Sox are the teams to watch. I think the Sox think if they can get a return from Quintana/Robertson that is largely comprised of close to MLB ready talent, then they will make the leap. Shields could be moved obviously but I don't have any reason to think anything specific. Essentially, if they move Q/Robertson/Duke they'll go into the offseason with holes at C/CF/DH and then they'll need a decent starter/reliever as well as some depth adds. They'll have the returns from those guys hopefully filling three of those holes and they'll have boatload of money off the books with LaRoche/Robertson/Q/Jackson/Latos/Rollins/Avila/Navarro leaving. Before arb raises, that's almost 50M off the books (rough mental math). If you read Hahn's comments it sounds like he's realizing that the current makeup isn't working & we're mired in mediocrity. I'm not so sure that trading 2-3 guys solves this. That's more rebuilding on the fly. It's not that I think this would be a good/bad idea, but not sure it dramatically changes the approach enough.
  25. Jim Bowden ESPN Senior Writer Dodgers have been extremely aggressive pursuing the games best starting pitchers.... available or not...willing to offer huge prospect packages...they appear committed to having a much different approach to this deadline than they did last year when their moves brought in the likes of Mat Latos, Alex Wood, Bronson Arroyo and Jim Johnson among others. This year they're chasing the Archers, Sales, Quintana's and every other top pitcher. They will be a team to watch over next 10 days
