  1. I think Darrin Erstad when I read about him, not sure if that's a good comp or not.
  2. I'm not a huge fan of using a 1st on a reliever either, but it's unfair to say "you don't ever". This kid could end up being well worth the pick.
  3. White Sox do a whole lot of nothing. Hahn: "We anticipate a very competitive post season race in '17, and feel it's best to reconsider any potential trades for next deadline. We're very content going into spring training as is." KW: "I'm a competitive guy. Who says we can't compete next year with the moves we've made this winter? Tell me, who?"
  4. No more benefit of the doubt - the KW/Hahn combo are idiots
  5. at least trade the secondary pieces - what a joke
  6. The MOST insane thing would be to trade Sale too cheaply out of pressure. As much as it sucks to sit tight, it would be WAYYY worse to give him away without a full return.
  7. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) I really wish that the FO would come out and say what the team's philosophy is. If you are "retooling" then hanging on to Chris Sale and Jose Quintana is a must. They are the strength of the team's core. If you are rebuilding, then it makes almost no sense to keep them. If you are rebuilding it makes even less sense to trade one and not the other. They don't know / haven't decided / can't decide
  8. White Sox intrigued of Benintendi, ERod, Swihart, and Devers package from Red Sox for Chris Sale.
  9. Benintendi wiki page is updated to say he's on the White Sox. Might mean nothing, but might...
  10. Gut says Q or Sale is gone to Boston by the deadline
  11. Everyone is anxious but you cannot sell too low on Sale or Q. That would be the most unforgivable thing.

    Hahn

Why does Hahn deserve to keep his job and oversee the rebuild? Would he have been fired in other organizations? Should he be let go?
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) Since no one has said it, I am scared of the historical overrated nature of Yankees prospects. As of last week they were Cubs & Indians prospects!
  14. QUOTE (ecupittfan @ Jul 30, 2016 -> 11:06 AM) I have watched almost all the games this year. If we had replaced a Avi Garcia/JB Shuck combo with a Jay Bruce at the beginning of the year we would be in the running. He basically doubles their output. And we didnt pull the trigger at the beginning of the year. I guess I wasnt clear in what I was saying. I meant if we had done it at the beginning of the year or about 40 games ago. Not now, its time to throw in the towel and sell. Shields is pitching well now, get rid of him, Gonzo unload, Robertson get what you can. Sale can bring back 3-4 major leaguers so its time to do it. Even then I'm not sure it would've made a difference. Look at our team batting! http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=...=&players=0
  15. QUOTE (ecupittfan @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 09:46 PM) This team could really be in the running if it had another bat or two. The pitching has been very good for a while now. Shields, Sale, Q and Gonzo have been as good as anyone. Yet we consistently lose 1 run games. 9 of our last 23 games we have scored 0 or 1 run in a game. That is absolutely terrible. Its looking like 10 of 24 right now. In contrast the indians have done it 3 times in their last 36 games. Have you watched any of the games this year? You have to literally have your head in the sand to think "we'd be in the running with another bat". Our offensive statistics are putrid & one player wouldn't change that.
  16. Zero reason to not trade Shields, I really hope we see some deals this weekend
  17. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 11:30 AM) They wouldn't give up Baez for Tyson Ross last year when he had considerably less value than he does now, and they also don't need a SP, they're pretty well set there through at least the end of 2017. I just don't see how it makes any sense for them to do it right now. We all know pitching wins in October. Cubs have a good staff, but hard to say that Epstein wouldn't covet a Quintana type.
  18. Frazier seems replaceable. I'd rather take a modest return for him now, sacrifice his value this year & next.
  19. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) CBS Sportsline has a story this morning that the Yankees have called Hahn multiple times and are pushing to try to get Sale. Mark They don't have enough in their farm system to land Sale, and I'm not sure they have the ML pieces to trade to get the top prospects we'd want.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) All I want to say in this thread is...if management goes the other way, declares that they're not sellers, tries bringing in veterans to plug holes again this offseason, please remember how we got there come the offseason when you're tempted to say "Hey we got an all star at position x this is awesome!". We all want a solid contender to be built, right? The overwhelming consensus here (whether we're right or wrong) is that bringing in veterans to plug holes hasn't worked & won't work if we try it again (definition of insanity right?). Do I doubt that some move veteran addition could be made that looks good in itself? Of course not. But we don't believe that the aggregate product will look much different than right now.
  21. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 09:06 AM) Right. For all the control the White Sox have over Sale and Quintana, it's still only a few seasons. If the White Sox tried to rebuild without moving either pitcher, they would be bad enough to waste all of the control and squander player value. Part of my point, we have a really good "window" right now to maximize value and set ourselves up. The window won't last forever as players can get hurt, you squander control, player value, etc. I really hope mgmt recognizes this and trades (assuming good offers): Q, one of Gonzalez/Shields, Frazier, Robertson, and one more wildcard?
  22. With all the names circulating, it's dawning on me that this might be a golden opportunity for the White Sox to rebuild. There seems to be a lot of interest in at least a half a dozen White Sox player. Not only that but it's a sellers market & we are dealing from a position of strength. If we play our cards right, we could set ourselves up for the next decade by tearing down & sacrificing the next few seasons. I just hope management can have this longer term vision and realize that this particular deadline (and probably offseason) set them up really well to rebuild. Would be so frustrating if they see false hope from a small winning streak, etc.
  23. If we don't trade Sale or Q I'm going to be pissed if we don't at least deal Robertson/Shields/Gonzalez. This feels like dejavu if we have another winning streak that gives false hope
  24. These five for one deals where mediocre prospects are included reminds me of fantasy football where some idiot thinks appealing to take on his whole bench for the star RB
  25. Love the Boston fan who proposed Sale for Price!!! LOLOLOL
