  1. @GordonEdes: Red Sox frustrated by "mixed signals" from White Sox on Peavy; would still like to get deal done, but price remains too high
  2. These negotiations are important going forward. Could set an impression for how Hahn is viewed around the league.
  3. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=21375
  4. Obviously a year and a half of Peavy is more valuable than one year. Plus we run the risk of him getting injured and getting nothing back. Doubt Hahn wants to risk it.
  5. @pgammo: A's not in on Peavy price(Gray, Russell & take on bearly $20M), ditto Boston, ditto Atlanta. Time running down
  6. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 06:38 PM) What is the score? Where did you hear that? A number of people on Twitter & that MILB link above
  7. Apparently the Pirates prospect Hanson was just pulled. Could be something or nothing. Assume this would be for Rios?
  8. @ChrisCotillo: Source: #WhiteSox have discussed Carlos Martinez, Kolten Wong, and Michael Wacha with the #Cardinals in potential Peavy/Ramirez deals.
  9. @Buster_ESPN: Current read on Peavy talks: 1. Oakland. 2. St. Louis 3. Boston 4. Baltimore
  10. As an aside, I think we can accurately surmise that Hahn is in fact GM. If KW were still making the calls he wouldn't have had the patience to wait this long.
  11. Sox fans seems a lot more bullish on this trade than Cards fans. Maybe the trade would end up being two out of those three.
  12. Heyman: with buchholz iffy (& prospect stash huge), #redsox have no reason not to get Peavy. #cards #a's http://cbsprt.co/19kRdiP
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 04:26 PM) And a sign that a gm liked what he saw so he just pulled the trigger... Yeah Unacceptable that he was left in this game. WTF is wrong with them?
  14. Looks like Tim Hudson is out for the year (and career?). Have the Braves just entered the Peavy sweepstakes?
  15. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 04:07 PM) NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO You don't spite yourself - if Detroit has the best offer you take it. All else equal, you probably keep him out of the division.
  16. Sooner the better wrt trading Peavy. Risk of him getting injured again isn't worth holding out.
  17. As a NC State graduate and die-hard Sox fan, I have to say that one of the real benefits of this terrible season is the potential of next year's draft. While it may be a long shot to land Carlos Rodon (I'm assuming he'll be #1), Trea Turner from NC State would be a very interesting prospect for us. He plays SS right now, but has also been projected as a CF. He stole 50+ bases as a Freshman, and was slowed somewhat this year due to an ankle injury. Anyways, not sure if you've see Turner/Rodon play, but the prospect of either of them being available for the Sox would be awesome.
  18. Let me preface this by saying I'm no statistics expert, but I thought it was interesting looking through the total team batting statistics for 2012. What stuck out to me (and maybe I'm captain obvious) but except for HR's, the White Sox offense was very average. Avg: .255 vs league average of .255 also OBP: .318 vs league average of .319 SLG: .422 vs league average of .405 OPS: .740 vs league average of .724 OPS+ 97 vs league average of 97 Pitching looks average as well, but probably slightly above average. ERA+ WHIP H/9 HR/9 BB/9 SO/9 SO/BB League: 101 1.309 8.7 1.0 3.1 7.6 2.48 Sox: 108 1.292 8.5 1.2 3.1 7.8 2.48 Is this too crude of a way of looking at things? Baseball Reference Statistics
  19. Any chance in the world the Rangers would trade Hamilton given his slump and contract ending?
