he doesn't control the trades! i will next offseason when i see him!

Saw a headline on ESPN insider that Texas is considering trading Josh Hamilton. As I personally know him, it would be awesome to see him on the white sox. Think there could be a place for him in Chicago? Long term, could he fit in at 1B? Thoughts?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 01:33 PM) You mean like the person 4 posts before you suggested? Yes. Haven't been through the whole thread.

I don't post very often, and I realize what I'm going to propose could be ridiculous, but here goes. What about building a package around Quentin for Gonzalez? Does that make any sense? From our point of view, it seems like its a lot easier to find a corner outfielder than a LH all-star 1B.... thoughts?

I could picture a Jon Garland type trade where we get back someone who is in a similar situation (contract/talent etc..). There's no way we'll get a haul of top prospects.

Bob Elliot of the Toronto Sun reports that the Red Sox offered the Blue Jays six pitchers for Roy Halladay at the trading deadline. The names: Daniel Bard, Michael Bowden, Clay Buchholz, Felix Doubront, Nick Hagadone and Justin Masterson. That's quite an impressive array of names, and it's shocking Toronto didn't snap it up. The scout that revealed this deal said the Jays had difficulty projecting Masterson's future, and -- probably most important --- "the Jays were worried about Halladay beating them next year." Obviously, Masterson and Hagadone are no longer with the Sox club so it's unlikely a deal could be reached in the offseason. If it's going to take more than that package to land Halladay, GM J.P. Ricciardi won't find any takers. Sep. 13 - 11:56 am et How could Ricciardi turn this down? Is he a flat out moron?

Kind of a crazy trade idea - but would you of traded Buerhle and Dye for Wallace and Rasmus? I know it doesnt make sense now that we are in contention, but would you have done it?
-
I know you all probably dont care - but Allen has 4hr in 8games for Reno. Is that a Coors field type ballpark?

I'd take Sizemore straight up!!

no problem. I work in the same complex as the Durham bulls stadium, so I try to make it to as many Charlotte games as possible when their in town...

Negron hit a bullet into the RF seats just as the rain came down. I don't know a ton about him, but he looked like he has a live bat and pretty decent speed. See my thread on the Egbert injury for my take on Kroeger.

Lucy really struggled at the plate tonight against Durham on the few at bats I saw. Hopefully he turns it around!

Was watching the Durham / Charlotte game on TV tonight and Egbert took a nasty line drive to his throwing hand, and left the game. It didnt look good but who knows how bad it is. He had pitched 3 or 4 scoreless innings up to that point. On another note, Kroeger might be the most un-graceful player I have ever watched. The guy badly misplayed a ball in RF last night, made an error on a slow roller, and tripped over his feet going from 1st to 3rd. Now maybe these were random events that are unlike Josh, but I was very surprised how badly he looked in the field.

Just got back from the game in Durham, I left during the rain delay in the 7th. Except for Brandon Allen, the whole team was atrocious. Marquez was absolutely shelled. Lillibridge and Betemit had a handful of errors between the two of them, and each had a base running blunder. Allen went 1-3. His first at bat, facing Sonnanstine, he took a few pitches very nicely and lined a shot right up to the right field wall. His second at bat he took an outside fastball off the left field wall for a double. It was a great at bat, as he didn't try to do too much but showed great opposite field power. It was very impressive. His third at bat, facing Jorge Julio, he whiffed on a 94mph fastball and struckout on a change. What I was MOST surprised with was his athleticism at 1B. He ran down a popup in foul territory down the line with an over the shoulder catch. He had to look straight back into the sun, but pulled it off rather athletically. It showed how great his hands are. I don't know a ton about his background, but the kid looks like a great athlete.

Sonnanstine will be on the hill for Durham, so it should be a good test for our young hitters...

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 02:14 PM) No. You don't trade a guy who's inexpensive & putting up numbers. Unless you're gonna get a really good package, you don't let that go. TWSS

Heading to the Knights game on 7/2 against Durham. Anything that you guys would want a first hand report on?

Can someone explain to me why so much press about Derosa getting traded? The guy has only played 140+ games twice in his career, never more than 87 rbi's, never hit 300... what is the fascination with him?
