Heh. Maybe that was a bit harsh -- Sox rage syndrome is infecting me. then direct your issues to the right people.... call jr and give him hell.......... I don't see JR wearing a uniform, do you? Blame the players that don't seem to care, not the guy sitting up in the suite with his head in his hands.

MOTHERF*CKING B*TCHASS DIPSHIT PASSIONLESS SOX!!!!
clujer420 replied to BridgeportHeather's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No doubt, it sure looks that way. To lose as huge as the Sox have so many times already this season, they just must not care, because they have talent. Teams with talent do not lose huge this many times if they are trying their hardest, and it's painfully clear that they are not. -
A team having no hope to begin with is one thing. I don't know if that was the case with the 1970 Sox. But, this year's squad, as Michelle said, on PAPER, should have been in contention all year long. So far, we're a joke. We can't get a hit when we need it, and we can't retire a batter when we need it. And yes, I'm only 22, so I haven't seen very may Sox seasons, but this is the worst I've ever seen a Sox team play. Of course some of our losses have been winnable, but that's the point. We managed to lose -- the sign of a long, painful season. LMAO, these commercials are hilarious with this stupid little whore girl singing. What a joke -- I suppose it's appropriate, given this Sox team and the way they've played through 44 games.

Like Koch said before the season, "Paper can't throw strikes and paper can't hit the ball". Be it ever so true.

This, truly, is pathetic. There isn't much point in saying all the reasons that it is pathetic, because they have already been said ad nausium. I'm a big Lakers fan, and despite how poorly they looked at times during this past season, I never lost hope because of their track record of coming up big when they needed to, and because they were the defending 3-time champions. Of course, they are out of this year's playoffs, but the point that I'm trying to make is that despite how much we keep saying "this Sox team will turn it around", I'm starting to wonder why we keep saying that. The Sox haven't shown s*** in the past 3 years, and this is NOT the team we had in the magical 2000 season. With the Lakers, you always had hope because they've come up huge many times in the past, and they'd proven that they were ready, willing, and able to do what it took to win. I'm becoming convinced that this Sox team, while talented, is simply not capable of that.

Then by your "this year is this year" and "what happened in the past doesn't matter" theory, the Sox don't have much hope do they? We're 2-4 against the Royals and 2-4 against the Twins. Our offense is 12th in the AL, we've got our RF playing CF, our SS and 3B are hitting under .250, a non-roster invitee to spring training leads our team in wins, and our ace pitcher has "lost confidence" in himself. We win close games about as often as the Bad News Bears, and our bullpen has been nothing if not inconsistent. Should be a great next 4 1/2 months

The most distressing part of the weekend sweep was that we actually were in the last 2 games until the very end, but couldn't find a way to win. We were down 2-0 on Saturday, then Torii Hunter robbed Carlos of a game-tying 2-run HR, but even after that we put together 4 base hits and only scored 1 run. We ended up leaving the bases loaded, and that was pretty much it. Our lack of team speed was very evident, and it cost us a chance at winning that game. Then, yesterday, we were up 2-1 in the 8th, and were unable to shut the door. Our defense really let us down, and like usual, we found a way to lose. The differences between the Sox and Minnesota are vast, and were very clearly displayed this past weekend. Yes, they are on a hot streak, and we are about as cold as we can be, but that's no excuse -- you have to beat your rival teams when the opportunity presents itself, and the Sox simply failed. We could have had 2 out of 3, but instead walk away with our tails between our legs. This series vs. Toronto is huge -- we're either going to rebound, or fall further out of contention.
-
Um...who cares what fans of other teams have to say? The only reason Twins, Royals, or other teams' fans would come here and post is to get a reaction out of you, and when you reply to his posts and get into arguments with this guy, you're giving him exactly what he wants. Just ignore whatever he says, and he will get tired of wasting his time, and he'll leave. Very simple solution.
-
Based on what we've shown this season, and as good as Minnesota has played lately, why is that statement so incorrect? We all know KC is coming down to earth, and we can only beat teams like Baltimore, so what makes you think Minnesota won't be in 1st the rest of the way?

Heh. It was the Mets/Yankees, and the game was going to be at Shea Stadium. This was last season or 2001, and it was Estes vs. Clemens. This was coming off of the drilling in the head and the incident in the WS where Clemens threw the broken bat at Piazza while he was running to 1st base. Anyway, the build-up to the game was huge, because for the first time in a long time, Roger was going to have to bat, and everyone was expecting Estes to drill him. Well, when Clemens came up to bat, Estes threw about an 85 MPH fastball that went behind Roger and missed him completely. The crowd was pretty upset, and Estes proved that he had absolutely no balls what-so-ever.

And you call yourself a Sox fan

A real ace doesn't depend on his catcher -- they can pitch to anyone. 2-7 is unacceptable for any pitcher -- but for an ace on team that's expected to contend, it's COMPLETELY unacceptable.

WTF am I talking about????? MB started pitching for the Sox in June or July of 2001. Not including this season, he won 15 games in 2001 and 19 in 2002..... hence, 34 GAMES OVER A SEASON AND A HALF. Heh, wasn't Buehrle in our starting 5 rotation from the very beginning of '01? I coulda sworn he was. He won the job out of ST. Am I wrong? He started 34 games last year, and 32 in '01 -- so I don't think your June/July claim is accurate. Besides, he won 16 games in 2001 -- not 15.
-
"Didn't get clobbered"? Dude, he allowed 10 hits and walked 2 over 3 1/3 innings. That's the definition of getting clobbered if you look it up in the baseball dictionary. Maybe so, but if you really look at the numbers (beyond just ERA) and compare them to '01 and '02, you will see that Buehrle is just having an awful start to '03.
-
???? He won 35 games over 2 seasons...not a season and a half. WTF are you talkin about? Anyway, he sucks so far in '03, and I'm now officially worried. He better pull his head out of his ass and start pitching like an ace, or he can join Garland on the trade block.

2001 = 5.12 K/9 IP 2002 = 5.11 K/9 IP 2003 = 3.65 K/9 IP (including tonight) 2001 = 1.95 BB/9 IP 2002 = 2.30 BB/9 IP 2003 = 3.36 BB/9 IP (including tonight) 2001 = .230 opp BA 2002 = .260 opp BA 2003 = .280 opp BA (not counting tonight's shelling) 2001 = .377 opp SLG 2002 = .405 opp SLG 2003 = .462 opp SLG (not counting tonight's ass kicking) Those numbers are NOT good. Something could -- I stress, COULD -- be injured on MB. Herb and Coop better look into it.

Rex the man! Heh...where's my "Jer the man!"? I pointed that out last week. His WHIP has gone from 1.06 in 2001 to 1.25 in 2002, and now this season it's well over 1.5 after tonight's debacle.
-
But even before today, he was allowing nearly 1.5 baserunners per inning. So while he could easily have been 6-2 with his high 3 ERA, he could VERY easily have been 2-6 with an ERA of 5.00 or worse. All of those baserunners are going to catch up to him sooner or later, and perhaps tonight was the start of it (I didn't see the game, but his line is about as ugly as they come). Except for Garland, he's been our worse pitcher, oddly enough. Run support or not, he needs to get us wins, and it better begin very soon.

IMO = In My Opinion

Stolen bases and stolen base percentages have VERY little to do with speed. Stolen bases are more about anticipation and reads than anything else -- some guys can have C speed and steal 15 and be successful 75% of the time, and some guys can have A speed and have the same number of steals, but only be successful 50% of the time. The stolen base is an art that must be learned.
-
Well, tonight we got our ass handed to us. The pitching has been awful. But, our offense has been pretty decent. I'm not watching the game, so the numbers can be misleading, but we've got 9 hits through 7 innings. That is very acceptable, and while 3 runs isn't all that great, it's a slight improvement over what we've been doing over the past 3 weeks or so. Our modest winning streak was going to end at some point. Hopefully we can avoid a losing streak. And also, what in the f*** is going on with Buehrle? He'd better turn it around FAST if we expect to contend for a playoff spot. He's now 2-7, and his ERA has got to be around 4.50 after today's "effort".

What happened to the rumor that KW was resigning
clujer420 replied to Iguana's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Apparently Jerry Reinsdorf and Frank are close, so I don't think KW will be doing anything with Frank. JR DOES have to approve things that KW does -- he doesn't have cart blanche (sp?) to do whatever he damn well pleases. -
I am way in the lead to win a bet with my buddy who was an Indians fan. I bet him that their attendace would be under 25K a night. Right now they are at just over 19K http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=clev...ov=st&type=lgns If they keep it up the Sox might draw more fans then the Indians. I got so sick of hearing how great Indians fans were during the 90's, after no one went to games when they stunk. Now they suck again, and their attendance has fallen by 50% in two years. What a bunch of bandwagoners. Tribe fans are no different than fans of any other sports team. When they win, they come out -- when they lose, they don't.
