Cleaning coffee off my monitor..... Nice one clujer! Where's all the regs to see this? Us poking fun at each other and *gasp*...laughing?! By the time everyone else gets here we'll be arguing like usual.

Not bad for an older woman.

That is a disgrace.

I don't think those numbers are out of reach to be very honest. So far his HR's aren't that bad (considering how he's been struggling -- 8's pretty good even still), and his RBI's will come (guys have been on base, he just hasn't delivered yet). And I think the .300 average is the easiest of the 3 for him to achieve. He's a career .312 hitter, keep in mind. Who hasn't hit over .269 since 2000. I think the 40 HRs might be the easiest thing at the pace he has been going. I will hedge my bet to see if he sticks with his fixed swing for a while or if he lapses back into what he has been doing for the last few years. He's played 1 season since 2000 -- ease up on the guy. I believe that once Frank finds his stroke, it'll be back to stay -- good hitters like Frank don't normally go into such long funks, but once they get out of them, they tend to stay out. Like I said, I hope Frank has started to turn the corner.

LOL. I'm a lover, not a fighter -- so since I'm not an exhibitionist, the parking lot would not be the best place to take this.

Yeah, Frank seems to either walk or pop out when he's got men on base, and when he's leading off an inning or something he'll put a surge in one. He'll find the happy medium soon enough. And in defense of BlackSox, I don't always read every post when I come back after not being on for a day or 2 -- it takes a good hour sometimes to do that. And don't ya just hate smartasses, BlackSox?

Maybe because the idiot reporters asked him a question..? He's a good guy. I'm sure he was just blowing off some misplaced steam. Just because someone asks you a question, that doesn't mean you are obligated to answer it. He should have just said "Sandy's a good guy and I wish him and his team well, except when we play them *laughs*, but for me to answer questions about guys that I for the most part don't know personally, would be wrong. I'll gladly answer any questions you have about the Indians". If Frank ever learns how do this, his life would be SOOOO much easier Hey, Frank's gotta be who he is, good or bad. To change because the fans or his teammates want him to would just be wrong. Accept him for who he is, or don't -- but remember, without him being productive in our lineup in '03, we ain't winning. Besides, if I've gotta have a "controversy" or 2 a season, but get a HOF player in return, I'll gladly take it.

No mention of Magglio, who makes more than Frank and is hitting just .02 higher? No mention of Konerko, who makes more than Frank and is hitting about as good as I could? No mention of Carlos Lee, who is making about as much as Frank and is hitting less than Frank? No mention of Jose Valentin, who is making about as much as Frank and is hitting less? So you say "many of our big money guys are hitting way below their career averages", then you turn around and rip just Frank. I see you have some sort of agenda against the man. And to call him a "former hall of famer" is just retarded. The man will be in the HOF, you can book that. Unless he dies today, he'll be a 1st ballot inductee. -

Whether Omar's comments have any truth to them (perhaps they do) isn't the issue. The issue as I see it is why he feels the need to comment on our team. Doesn't he have better things to concern himself with than the play of the White Sox? If he wants to do commentary on teams and/or players around the league, maybe he should retire and join the crew of Baseball Tonight. Otherwise, he should mind his own business and discuss issues that affect him and his team -- not the work ethic of a division rival.

Disagree. Frank's best season in the last 5 years was in 2000 -- it was also the Sox's best season in the last 5 years. Coincidence? I think not. The Sox go as Frank goes. Bottom line. I hope you like the taste of crow.
-
Unbelievably, it was. He's had 3 multi-hit games in the last 6, though. Got his average up to .269 -- so hopefully he's starting to turn the perverbial corner.

Yep, pretty much. I'm here to share my thoughts about the Sox (as well as various other topics, as it turns out), and of course I would like to have some fun along the way. Coming here for any other reason seems silly to me. -
Wait, doesnt Frank lead the AL in walks? LOL and hes blaming the calls?????????????????? I don't know man...I've watched a lot of Sox games this season, and it seems like Frank does get squeezed a little more than other players do. Maybe it's because of his reputation and the fact that he's not happy with the way he's being umped and the umpires are responding in kind, I don't know. But, the reason he leads the league in walks is because he's one of the most patient hitters in the game. Even when he's not hitting well, he's able to draw walks and get on base -- which is something that cannot be said of guys like Konerko and Crede. Well let me play the devils advocate. He leads the league in walks, yet is getting squeezed? Doesnt that tell you that hes taking WAY too many pitches? I just think he needs to take more accountability and try to improve. Blaming others, even if its accurate, will never help him get better. Agreed. I forgot, but at the end of that post I was going to say "That said, he needs to stop worrying about the umpires and start working on handling the inside pitch during BP." Complaining about officiating never got anything accomplished.

I don't know man, if you look at his career stats per year, he's had some pretty awesome years. http://www.cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/players/...playerpage/7958 .292 career avg, 500 HR, 1600 RBI, 529 doubles, and nearly as many career walks as strikeouts (1163 and 1187, respectively). Except for Barry Bonds, he's about as sure of a bet to be in the HOF as anyone else currently playing.

Poser = someone who pretends to be something that they are not. The same could be said about a few others on this board. -
In 1999 at AAA Columbus, he hit .327 with an OBP of .392. In over a 1/3 of a season (59 games) so far with the Sox since we traded for him, he's hitting .294 with a .390 OBP. So while I'm "cognisant" of the fact that he's never done it for a full season in the majors (he's done it for a season in the minors, as I said -- just .08 short in the OBP category), he's definitely got more potential to do so than Aaron Miles. And "as bad" as he was with the Padres, his career avg is .270 and his career OBP is .351. That's not too shabby for a guy that many of you seem to hate.
-
Yes, it's possible for a player to play 170 games if he gets traded to the right team at the right time of the season. If he were to break a record, there would likely be an asterisk, but it would count.
-
Yep, that 163rd game counted. And had Sammy hit 5 HR to get 71, there would have been an asterisk in the record book, I'm sure.
-
The guy that seems to be most hated around here is. Jimenez is hitting .300 with an OBP of .400. Those aren't bad results, no?
-
Minor league stats are most likely going to drop when making the switch to major league pitching. So, his .349 will translate to around .300 (and it sounds like he's on a hot streak at the moment, so once he cools off probably .270 or so), and his OBP will drop from .384 to around .320. .320 OBP? Not in the majors -- unless he can have Jose Valentin power, which I don't think he does. I hope he likes Charlotte, because he's going to be there for a while, especially if we've got a guy with a .300 avg and a .400 OBP (vs. MAJOR league pitching, not some minor league scrubs) already playing 2B.

No. If she's wrong, she's a poser and a liar trying to gain acceptance from people over the internet. And if that's the case, we need to do an intervention and get her to seek professional help to help resolve her obvious severe psychological issues. I'm just looking out for her. -
Chicago's pretty lucky to have 2 HOF players that are still playing. A lot of cities don't have a HOF'er on their roster, but Chicago has 2.
