  1. Bold statement. Any particular evidence to back this prediction up? Or just a gut feeling? Either way, I hope you're right.
  2. Let's not get back into that topic.
  3. Not everyone has been dissing Frank, but I've seen more and more posts questioning his ability, contributions to the team, etc, and I'm getting sick of it. He's not hitting well at all, but he's at least doing SOMETHING to try and help the team win. If only guys like Crede, Konerko, and Lee would take as many pitches as Frank does.
  4. Well, you didn't mention numbers specifically, but if what you said is accurate (which I doubt, I'm sure you were exagerating), it would be very easy to figure out what you make. $750K is what Bmr said. You claim to make as much in 1 day as he does in 1 month. That amounts to $62,500 a day. So you make $22.8M a year? If so, your presence here is hilarious. And people who are secure don't need to flaunt things to others. Also, don't forget that you are an exception. Most women do not have their own careers, and in most cases, they DO need a man's income to have the things they want in life (such as a house, children, etc). "Women don't need men" is laughable to me. Women need men just as much as men need women -- without each other, both would never be fully happy in life IMHO.
  5. you hit the nail on the head...... were leaving too many guys stranded on base, when they do get on base and were not getting on base enough at other times ....that is a team effort not just nailed down to one or two guys.........mho Well DUH! Of course it's a team effort. The entire team needs to step up in order for us to go places this year. My point in this thread was to get people off of Frank's back by showing that while he's struggling, he's hardly the reason we're 15-16. Our 3-7 are awful so far, and it needs to change. Now.
  6. Whatever it takes to get the job done. He'll be the all-time leader in points scored when he retires, so I'm sure he won't mind. And if he's smart, he'll take the $4.5M contract and come and play for the Lakers and finally get a ring.
  7. Am I the only one who thinks it's EXTREMELY tacky to boast about how much money one makes? One day when I'm well off and don't have to worry about money (lord knows I'm not there yet, but I'm 22 so I have some time to get there), the only person who will know how much I make might be my wife, and I don't know if I'll even tell her exactly how much. I think there are some things that should be kept private, and anyone who brags about how much he/she makes is very, very tacky.
  8. I'd rank Malone, Stockton, Barkley, and Ewing as NBA greats and no doubt HOF'ers, and of course none of them ever won a ring. A lot of winning has to do with luck really. All of the guys mentioned probably would have won at least 1 time had it not been for Jordan. Timing is everything in sports.
  9. I high-balled it a bit. He's making $5.2M this year, but his contract is for 3 years, $20.1M, so nearly $7M per year. I still think that's too much for Ray.
  10. 10. Tracy McGrady 9. Grant Hill 8. Peyton Manning 7. Teppo Numminen 6. Frank Thomas 5. Gale Sayers 4. Ernie Banks 3. Kevin Garnett 2. OJ Simpson 1. Ted Williams Top 10 athletes in any sport to never make it out of the first round of the playoffs. Shoulda known it would be something negative.
  11. They mentioned that the top 10 is going to be HOF'ers that choked in the playoffs. That might be what it is, LOL, since Frank is like hitless in 6 career playoff games. We'll see though.
  12. 1 win in each series? 2 against Oakland? 2 against Seattle?
  13. I'm watching SportsCenter, and they were showing clips of what's coming up on the show, and they showed Frank swinging. They didn't mention anything about it, but I think something on the Sox and/or Frank is coming up soon. If it's anything good, I'll let ya guys know.
  14. Why is it silly for me to want Ray to do well clujer...?? I didn't say I wanted the Sox to lose. Well, you said that you hope he "beats the s*** out of us ala Cam". Last time I checked, everytime we play Seattle and Cameron has a big game, we get killed. And if we let Ray Ray go wild on us and get on base and drive in runs ahead of Barry, I don't think there's much doubt what the outcome will be. I want Ray to do well too -- just not when he's playing against us. Hopefully he'll get a nice ovation when he returns to his old stomping grounds. I'm sure he will.
  15. Um... Why would you root for a former player to beat us? That's kinda silly Steff. It's not like we sold Ray out. We didn't force him to stay and then insult him with a low-ball offer. We traded him to a contending team (Oakland), and now he's on another contending team (San Fran) making about $8M a year. I liked Ray, and I wish him success, but I don't understand the love so many of you show him. He was a good 2B, but he's no HOF'er. Maybe I'd have to live in Chicago to understand it, I don't know. All I know is we've got a definite HOF'er in our lineup now, and it seems that everyone hates him. I don't get it.
  16. Yes. I think Carlos only has 5 1st inning AB's, and he's obviously reached base in 4 of them. The only logical reason I can come up with is that if a pitcher is facing the #6 guy in the first inning, he's obviously struggling, and Carlos is taking advantage of it. As for PK...
  17. Too funny. Part of the reason I enjoy coming here.
  18. What does Frank consulting with Walt have to do with anything? Would you rather he stays content with .240 and hits that all year long? And Frank has always been this way -- he's "ignored the advice of the teams current coaches" for years now, by most accounts. Were you complaining about it when he was putting up .330, 40, 120? I doubt it. When did Frank cry to the media? I read him say that he's getting busted inside. That's crying? Sounds like a statement of the obvious to me. Most everytime I see Magglio hitting with runners on base, he's PULLING to ball to SS for a nice easy 6-4-3. Maybe I'm seeing a different Magglio at the plate. Hustling in RF is nice, and I think Magglio is an above average RF'er, but you can't fault Frank for being a DH. That's the manager's call, not Frank's. And Frank is a "lightning rod" for controversy because like you said, everything he does or says is under a microscope. He's still the #1 superstar on this team. Magglio may be a better player, but there's nobody who garners as much attention as Frank does. Good, bad, or indifferent, that's how it is. And you're right -- most everybody needs to start earning their paychecks, and soon. Otherwise, this season might be wasted.
  19. Oh it definately works and its so sad. Its not totally about wanting our cash. It has to do more with looking cool or feeling cool. My opinion is these chics should go out and make their own money, but hey i guess i just dont understand. What about the guys trolling for them..? No fault on them? No fault on the guy that lies (I love you, I'll call you, of course you're the only one, etc, etc..). Right there from clujers "advice" men can be labeled as lying manipulating whores themselves. Thankfully I skipped that boy crazy stage, and most of my friends were serious about school as well. But there were a couple who got themselves into trouble. And some of the guys got theirs too. 3 minutes in the back of their cars thinking they're so cool.... and now they're a daddy. Oh I agree there. When I gave my "advice", I was speaking from the point of view of a guy looking to just get laid. I agree that a guy shouldn't lie to a chick to get into her pants, but if a guy's saying "I love you" after an hour and the girl spreads for him, she has obvious issues. And if the guy needs to do that in order to get some tail, he too has issues. However, most guys are going to take a sure thing. To expect anything less is a bit naive IMO. And obviously, guys (and girls) should ALWAYS use protection to prevent "daddy" situations. Have fun, do your thing, but don't let a 1-nighter turn into a life-long committment.
  20. I hate to do this because I really like him, but what about "the best player in Chicago", Magglio Ordonez? Frank has gotten on base for Magglio 53 times, and Magglio has had TONS of RBI opportunites, and he's got 19 RBI. That's not THAT many more than Frank. He's making twice as much as Frank is, and he's due to make $14M next season. I think it's time HE starts earning his keep.
  21. At the end of the season, all revenue money is green, regardless of the quality of fan.
  22. Where did you get your numbers? Frank is hitting .143 with RISP, .167 RISP and 2 outs, .200 with runners on, .250 close and late, I couldn't find the other numbers, but I would be interested to see your source on the rest of them! http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/spli...ts?statsId=4527 I posted his OBP, not his batting averages. http://www.vegasinsider.com/u/baseball/mlb.../8126_split.htm
  23. Not at all dude. You could go out and get an old Camaro or some old muscle car that barely runs for a couple grand, and if you shine it up and rev the engine a few times, the chicks will open up for you. It's not all about having money, it's more about making the chicks THINK you have money. If a chick thinks you're rich, she will do things to try to get a piece of the pie. Both guys and girls know the game. Girls have something we want, and we've got something they want. But, the guys need to tip the scales in their favor and use these whores for what they really are -- whores. After she comes out from under your steering wheel, kick her ass out of the car, drive away, and don't look back. Any chick that would perform sex acts for a guy she barely knows based soley upon the fact that he has a nice car deserves it. So dress well, rent a nice car (if you can't afford to buy one) for the night, and act like you don't care, and you'll have a hottie spreading for you in no time. If only I would take my own advice. LOL.
  24. I've been reading a lot of posts lately ripping Frank Thomas. As I've proclaimed many times, I'm a huge fan of Frank's, and I feel that the recent ripping of him is unwarrented. Granted, his 10 RBI is way too low for early May, but, does he deserve all the flack he's getting? Let's see.... I looked up some stats. Frank in the following situations.... RISP -- .444 OBP RISP w/ 2 out -- .583 OBP Runners on -- .483 OBP Late inning pressure -- .500 OBP After the 7th -- .472 OBP First inning -- .414 OBP GIDP -- 3 Very acceptable numbers. Granted, he is paid to not only get on base but also to drive in runs, but let's see what the guys after him have done in the same situations.... Magglio -- .362, .350, .319, .667, .382, .208, 7, respectively Konerko -- .333, .316, .321, .100, .176, .429, 7, respectively Lee -- .387, .500, .333, .091, .206, .800, 5, respectively Crede -- .308, .353, .294, .462, .371, .400, 1, respectively OK....I know that some of you may not be a big numbers freak, but I think that baseball relies heavily upon numbers. Basically what these numbers suggest is that Frank is at least getting on base -- pretty much in every crucial situation. He's setting the table for those "sluggers" behind him. Sure, his job is mainly to drive in the guys ahead of him, but at least he's not killing the rallies. He's drawing walks while he's struggling and at least giving the team a chance to score runs. Frank has scored 13 runs this year. He's been on base 53 times. Let me say that again. 53 times on base, 13 runs scored. What the f***? Frank needs to start hitting, don't get me wrong. But, as long as guys after Frank are grounding into DP's and stranding runners on base like there's no tomorrow, I think all of you need to place more of the blame where it belongs.
  25. lol! You know I was thinking that this morning looking at this thread. How many twists and turns has this one taken? Heck it should have been on the off topic board a couple hundred posts ago! No! If we're talking about it, how can it be off-topic? The will of the people should be honored!
