I'm sure the comments will flow after this post.. Go ahead, lash out at me. I can take it.. But... The guy made a mistake. He, unlike the newest douchebag idiots, apologized several times. He did not use his life misfortunes (his sister did) to excuse the incident. He called himself an idiot, etc, etc.. Has been in a program and has stayed clean (which in itself is a huge accomplishment). He's going to get community service and probation (thanks to Gamboa). Is it enough.. imo, no, but it is what it is. Hopefully the guy stays clean and uses this incident to right the wrong path he was obviously on. People make mistakes (see the "stupidest thing you've ever done thread" ). That's all. Now I'm assuming we're talking about the f***ers who attacked the Royals' first base coach last season -- right? Anyway, I'll weigh in on that... The two should be in prison. Two men assaulting an innocent man who had his backed turned -- not many things are more cowardly than that. I say 10 years each -- NO parole. And oversleeping an missing a Sox game on TV is a "mistake" -- blindsiding and attacking another human being is a choice -- and a very poor one at that.

Well we don't want Jon to feel left out. Let's just let em all win. -
Heh, what else is Jerry supposed to say? We've got the personnel -- they need to do their jobs, bottom line.

Ehem.. I was there. Now I'm a "nobody".. Sorry, Steff....everybody is somebody, and everybody is special in their own way! ...I think you know what my point was in that post...sometimes you gotta exaggerate to get the point across. LOL.. I know. I was just trying to lighten the thread. I tell ya... it was cold as ice that night, too. We couldn't stand but an inning and a half before we ran to the club. Took about 15 minutes to defrost. And of course the loss sucked. Hopefully they can get back on track here. This is going to be a VERY tough series against Oakland. I'm only expecting us to take 1. Which 1 do you expect? Colon vs. Zito? Buehrle vs. Mulder? or Garland vs. Halama? I think Jon will have a strong game, and I think we'll win 1 of our big 2's games (more likely Buehrle IMO). I think we'll take 2 of 3. -
Well Loaiza hit 94/95 a few times that I saw earlier in the season (I was shocked, as I didn't know he could bring that kind of heat). As someone mentioned, the other night the US Cellular gun said 90/91. That's about 4 MPH difference, which also was pointed out. Koch may be throwing slower than usual, but I sure hope it's 94 MPH and not 90 MPH -- there's a HUGE difference between the two.

It's just a matter of time before he has a bad start. Odds are it will happen sooner than later. Not because he's Esteban Loaiza, but just because he's a major league pitcher, and there aren't many guys who can put up some of the numbers that he has over a 5 game stretch. The big thing I'm curious to see is how he will respond to a 3 IP, 6 ER or so game. That will be very telling.

0. I'm in CA though, so I have an excuse! I plan on being at Dodger Stadium for all 3 games, and in Anaheim for 2, so by season's end my number will be 5. Unless the Sox are kicking ass this summer and I decide to take a plane ride to the windy city!

Yep, it's an awesome movie. 4 stars IMO. The Shoeless Joe part is great, but I'd say my favorite is Terrence Mann's (James Earl Jones) baseball speech near the end of the movie. Definitely speaks the truth about the greatest game ever invented.
-
This has been a topic of discussion several times, and Koch addressed it himself. He said the gun at US Cellular is "way off", but that it "doesn't matter how hard he's throwing as long as they're hitting it". His velocity seems to be registering higher on the road, so his story seems to check out.

Jennifer Lopez is a dog, and she has severe issues. Going on 3 husbands and she's still young. Unacceptable.

144 saves in his first 4 years. He sucks.
-
, as bad as that day is, I don't think it's as bad as Fernando Vina's day. He's 0-8 (yes, 8) so far today, and they're still playing. It's the Cards and Marlins tied at 6 in the 17th inning. Don't see many 0-8 performances.
-
He's 0-4 with 3 errors in the 2nd game of a double-header vs. Arizona. In Game 1, he also went 0-4. 8 team errors for the Mets, and the 2nd game isn't even over yet. = Met fan right about now.

Sox win, Lakers win, Cubs lose (not that I care too much about them actually), Dodgers win. Well, 3 out of 4 ain't bad.
-
The term "closer" is WAY overrated.
-
I'd have to go with Marte. He's been in the closer role before with this team (last season of course), and you'd have to say that at this moment, he's the best suited for the role. The only real possibilities are Marte or Gordon, but there's no doubt that at this point in the season, Marte is more effective than Gordon. So if I had to decide now, it would be Marte hands-down.
-
They misdiagnosed Wright? Didn't they say that he wouldn't need surgery, just rest. Well, he's thrown 2 times since then and so far so good. I think the jury is still out in that case, and the same goes for the Koch situation. As you said, we'll just have to wait and see.

I'm sure the Sox team doctors didn't get their PhD's out of a box of Cracker Jack.
-
Hmmm..I stand corrected. However, losing 2 out of 3 to teams like Cleveland and Baltimore feels a lot worse than it actually is. Feels like losing 9 out of 10, or so.
-
Yes, thank you Toronto indeed. Never give up on games!
-
I wouldn't start talking about how other teams' fans have little faith. We're 25 games into the season, and there are people in here who have little cute smilies getting flushed down the toilet as their signature. I think all fans react to losing the same immediately after the loss -- it's how they feel a couple of hours later that separates the confident fan from the fickle, scared fan.
-
They say "s*** or get off the pot", but I say "Jump or get off the ledge, dumbass". On pace for 90.72 (call it 91) wins. Not bad considering how dramatically inconsistent we've been.
-
Kinda shocked to hear that we are 5-2-1 in our first 8 series. I didn't check the accuracy of that, so I'll take your word for it. That just shows that when we lose, we LOSE. 5-2-1 and we should have a much better record than we do. But, these past 2 games are a good sign.

I'm not saying I think they're finished, the part about today being a turning point was a quote from a KC fan on the site. I didn't really address that. Sorry. CWSOX45 A KC fan said that today's loss could be a major turning point? Boy, and I thought we were pessimistic.
