  1. Some of you haven't liked Manuel for a long time now. But, I don't understand why this thread was started tonight. Did JM do something that I wasn't aware of to cost us tonight's game @ Baltimore? I thought our offense died after the 3rd and our bullpen collapsed? Maybe I was following a different game.
  2. Who said anything about his numbers? I'm asking if he's healthy because an injured Borchard isn't something that we need right now. Rowand -- 7 K's in 47 AB vs. ML pitching Borchard -- 10 K's in 43 AB vs. AAA pitching Even with Rowand SUCKING, his K/AB ratio is better. Yeah, Borchard makes much better contact.
  3. This team will go nowhere if White and Gordon (especially Gordon) don't pitch well for us. We need our pen to come through for us. Tonight was a perfect example. We should have taken 2 out of 3 and gone into this weekend's series with Minnesota 13-9, but instead we're 12-10. Lots of potential momentum was lost in this series after a BEAUTIFUL game by Esteban on Tuesday. We need to rebound immediately, and it starts tomorrow.
  4. If a player's motivation needs to come from an exterior source, there is something wrong with that player. Any successful player gets their motivation from within. If they have pride, they want to do their best on every play, every game. Maybe the Sox don't have that kind of spirit. So far, they don't seem to. And if they don't, this season is going to be VERY long, and we'll see the team dismantled come the trade deadline.
  5. Maybe they're buying into it too, I don't know. All I know is that if you have good players who do their job, it doesn't matter what hand they hit/throw with -- you'll win lots of games. And every team isn't dying for left-handed relief help. Nearly every team is dying for pitching PERIOD help because the league has too many teams and the talent has been extremely diluted -- but that's a discussion for a different thread.
  6. OK, so maybe we should just forget about the call. It is in the past. I dont like Cooper at all and I think we shoulda won but its time to let it go. Its obvious no ones gonna help so theres no point arguing over it. This team is trash. We have no bullpen, our offense is struggling. I dont see how they will start beating teams like Minnesota and Oakland after going 12-10 against the crap of the league. I dont wanna see whats gonna when they go to Oakland. You're making a lot of comments tonight that I think you very well may regret in the future. "I'm embarassed to be a Sox fan" and "this team is trash" are not very easy to talk your way out of. I think you better start covering your ass by saying "I'm embarassed to be a Sox fan after the way we played against the O's" and "this team is trash lately", otherwise you'll be called a hypocrite (by me ) when you start saying "the Sox rule!" and "this team is great!"
  7. Another person lacking initiative, care or determination. People like this piss me off... If you have so much initiative, why are you seeking our approval in your quest to....have Cooper fired? Is that your quest? If you were such a type A personality, you would take action regardless of others' opinions. First off, I have idea where to send this message. And is Bud Selig gonna reform the game on the word of a 15 y/o kid? No way. I need the support of a lot of people for him to listen. One letter supported by one kid aint gonna change a thing. And doub, you speak your mind so I respect you for that. But you lack initiative, and that I dont like too much... Ooooooooohhhhhhhhhh, you're 15. That explains it. J/K man. But seriously, you can send a letter to the commissioner's office. Bud may not read it himself, but someone will. Print 500 copies and send them if you have to -- someone with an abundance of initiative will find a way.
  8. We need Borchard up here right now... CWSOX45 How are his numbers in AAA? Also, I remember seeing someone say that he's injured -- is he all better now? he hit a homer tonight But is his injury all healed?
  9. This is honestly one of the most ridiculous threads I've ever been involved in. I disagree completely with Roman, but he's of course entitled to his opinion. I think that we will all agree that this Sox team needs to start playing their kind of ball now. That way, all of the bad umpiring in the world won't be able to stop us from winning. If we do what we're capable of, all will be good in "ChiSox nation".

  11. Lets think for a moment. I cant think of a certain example but Ill just make one up. Lets say theres a man. And this guy gets mad at his wife while hes drunk. So he doesnt really think about it and bashes her over her head with a rum bottle (wait, that sounds a little like Sosa, well whatever). He made a mistake. Does that mean he shouldnt be punished? No, he should be put away. So Cooper made a mistake, lets fire him, he needs the punishment. You guys are talking about firing Manuel for his mistakes, so why cant Cooper be fired for his? You are comparing a man committing a criminal act against the woman he supposedly loves to an umpire making a bad call? Are you for real in this discussion man? If you are, I think you're blowing it WAY WAY out of proportion, but if you're not, it's pretty funny.
  12. No one here cares..? Did you not see the posts from everyone pissed off..?? So what do you propose we do Roman..? Is it going to change the outcome of the game? If YOU want to do something, do something mature. Not booing at the All Star game. That just plain stupid. Great steff. We posted angry posts on a message board. Its not even the mlb run board. If anyone here really cared they write the problem to Selig and his band of idiots. But thats too hard. I dont care either. My word wont change anything, thats why I tried to get your guys help. Whatever, well just continue to suck and lose and no one will ever care that this downfall started because some idiot with the visual capacity of a bat screwed up a critical call. Im embarrassed to be a Sox fan... Wow. Embarassed to be a Sox fan? That's a strong statement dude. Writing a letter to Selig will do nothing. Do you think Cooper made the mistake on purpose? I highly doubt it. I hate to defend him because he did absolutely make a mistake, but he's only human man. I just wish the crew would have overturned the call when they met after JM came out to argue. That didn't happen, and it's in the past. And our downfall hasn't started yet man. We're 12-10, and while that's bad considering who we've played, let's hope some stiff competition will get us to kick it into gear. Sometimes talented teams play down to their competition, so let's see what happens this weekend vs. Minnesota. If we can't get up for a series at home vs. the Twins, I will concede that this team is in major trouble. If something horrible, such as getting swept, occurs over the weekend, I wouldn't be shocked if JM gets fired Monday. We lost two of three to the friggen Orioles. Thats friggen embarassing... Would sweeping the Twins erase your embarassment? If so, you are a very fickle fan.

  15. Of course we care. But, nobody cares more than Joe Crede does, yet he treated it like he's a veteran and he basically dismissed it as 1 game and that in the grand scheme of things, it's not going to make or break the season. If the guy who HIT it isn't spazzing out, it'd be silly for us to. Credes a moron. One game can make or break a season. Weaklings dont argue for their cause. Crede knew it was fair. He should have told that moron Cooper that he thought so. But nope he just sat back and took it all light. When the final standings look something like Kansas City 90-72, Chicago WS 89-73, Im going to be very pissed off. But the way were playing, it might be Kansas City 90-72, Chicago WS 72-90. Were playing like crap. And now the road gets a lot bumpier... Now Joe's a moron..? Unreal. If he had made a scene things would have only gotten worse. Sometimes you act like an ADULT and you take the high road no matter if YOU know YOU are RIGHT. I pretty much agree. I think there are times that you must take a stand or you'll look like a wimp, but Wednesday's game wasn't the time or the place. Sure, Joe got ripped off, and everyone knows it, but you know the ump went to the clubhouse after the game and saw the replay, and hopefully will go out of his way to give us a make up call next time we need one. That said, if Joe had caused a scene and then after the game made comments, that could lead to more "bad calls" in the future. Joe, IMO, did the right thing -- if anyone was going to go nuts and/or make comments, it had to be JM -- but I think he did the right thing too, for the same reasons I mentioned above.

Were playing like crap. And now the road gets a lot bumpier... 1 game only makes a difference if you allow it to. If we end up losing the division by 1 game, we will have nobody but ourselves to blame, because we're the best team on paper in this divison. But, as Billy said in ST, paper doesn't throw strikes or hit the ball. Blaming the umpires is a cop-out. It's about time this team stopped underacheiving. If we play under .500 over the next 3 weeks, we'll be in trouble. Not in the standings, but rather psychologically.
  17. it's KW's fault because he put a team together that has no speed so manufacturing runs is nearly impossible and for 3 seasons now we have needed a power hitting left handed bat for the middle of the line up and he has failed to produce one... but you make a good point..manuel didnt lose this game tonight..the bullpen did..white and gordon are veterans and they need to start pitching like they are The need for a speedy lineup and a powerful lefty is only being discussed because our 3-5 hitters have about 30 combined RBI. If they were producing and had around 45 or 50 RBI (which they SHOULD have), we'd have about 4 more wins and this would not be a topic of discussion. we should have 4 more wins anyways if the bullpen would do its job...but we have known we have needed a lefty bat in the middle of the line up since lou pineilla showed everyone how easy it was to stop us..we have needed a lefty for more than just this month..for two years now this team has under achieved and a big part of thart is because its so right handed I don't buy into the whole "lefty, righty" topic. I think that if you have QUALITY hitters (which the Sox do), it doesn't matter what side of the plate they stand on. These men are professionals, and it shouldn't matter what the guy before them or behind them are doing -- whether they're in an all lefty, all righty, or mixed lineup, they are paid to do a job, and they aren't doing it, so far. Same goes for our pen. They are a talented bunch of pitchers, and they need to step up and show some pride. They had a 2 run lead and choked it away. Simply unacceptable.

  20. Despite how they play, this team is very talented, and it's not KW's nor JM's fault if they fail to do the job that they're being paid millions to do.
  21. The NFL keeps score, so to speak, on all officials throughout the season. The best are the ones that end up reffing in the Playoffs and Super Bowl, and those who accumulate a certain number of "bad points" are fired. Anyone know if MLB has any type of disciplinary rules in place? I've never heard of any.
  22. They said that as a part of the umpires union contract ballparks are not allowed to show video in the stadium of controversial plays Which is COMPLETELY stupid. They show it 20 times on TV, and there are far more people sitting on their couches watching than there are in the stands. People pay their hard-earned money to go to a game, and they can't even see a replay of certain plays on the jumbo-trons? Disgraceful.
  23. For something such as a HR or a close play at the plate, there should be a replay official upstairs just watching a monitor and waiting for a mistake to be made. He can take 4 or 5 quick looks at it, and if the ump blows a call, the official can send a signal to the ump via a beeper or something and let him know that he f***ed up, and by the time the next hitter gets into the box, the error can be corrected. One of the things about baseball that I like is the fact that the umps have the final say in what goes on, but at the same time it's also one of the major flaws when you compare it to the NFL. The most important thing is getting the call correct, and the team that earns a win shouldn't have that quest compromised by an ump who, possibly, wasn't paying attention.
  24. Is there going to be a chatroom during today's game? I won't be able to see the game since it's on WCIU and will be blacked out -- so I'd like to be able to follow it. Someone post a link to it, please, if there is one. Thanks!
