  1. Yeah, the "buddy buddy" feel.
  2. I don't think I've ever seen those commercials. And Big Brother sucks. It doesn't take a commercial for someone to know that pot is bad for you.
  3. Getting old is right. And I'll concede that I would lose a trivia contest to many of the posters in here, so there's no need for a steel cage death match. And no, no kissing and making up -- a truce will suffice.
  4. Baseball discussion would be a nice change of pace around here.
  5. Killing your brain cells is cool? I'm not going to speak about you personally, since I don't know you, and there are obviously exceptions to every rule. Beer is actually worse for you then pot. weed is harmless unless you have to be high every day and hour. Something that alters your state of mind with chemicals is not harmless. "Weed is harmless" is one of the biggest misconceptions in the US today, and some kids are ruining their lives as a result of believing that lie.
  6. Well, obviously a kid's parents/family should be the main role models in their lives. But growing up, a couple people that I looked up to were Bo Jackson and Frank Thomas, and I feel that I am a better person today than I would have been if it hadn't been for them. But today, there seem to be very few "good guys" left in sports.
  7. I don't care how many "enemies" I've made here. Some of you may not like my non-baseball comments, but I'd be willing to bet that most everybody respects my baseball opinions. I could be wrong, though. I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to talk Sox baseball. If people like you would like to stop the name-calling and insults, I'd be more than happy to "go my way". But if you are unable to do that, . Either way will work.

  9. If people could act like adults instead of commenting and passing judgement about s*** and people they don't know anything about.. then there wouldn't be an issue. People who feel the need to insult and be ignorant to people and about things they think they know about are plain and simple assholes. If the tattoos and abusive boyfriends fit...
  10. Spending time with family members is a bit different, as you cannot choose who is your family. Friends, on the other hand, are hand-chosen, and IMO anyone with morals would not hang out with a known criminal (particularly someone who does drugs -- there's nothing more self-destructive).
  11. I knew there was a reason we kept Paul on the roster.
  12. Everyone in pro sports is a pot head... Shut the f*** up. What a moronic comment. I was joking... You need to lighten up... Normally you denote "jokes" with a smiley (maybe a or a ). Or, if you're trying to be sarcastic, you use green. Since you did none of the above and I believe you were being serious, I will stick with my original response.
  13. Good point, never thought about the waivers aspect. And I agree, send him to the pen. Who will we send down, then? Because we'll have to clear a roster space to make room for Danny, right?
  14. Then let him have an 8.00 ERA in AAA where it won't hurt our chances at making the playoffs. Saying "he did the same thing last year" is an invalid excuse and expecting him to duplicate the 2nd half he had last season is dangerous. He needs to turn it around in his next 3 or 4 starts -- otherwise, his spot in the rotation will be taken by Dan Wright. Unless, of course, Josh completely implodes. In that case, Dan would probably take his spot due to his inexperience. Dude i agree with a lot that you say, but at this point is safe to say Wright will take Stewarts spot, not Garlands. Garland needs to get hit hard his next two starts, before id send him to the pen, or down. You agree with a lot that I say? Damn...you're one of few, heh. Granted, I don't know much about Stewart since I've only seen his 3 games with the Sox (no minor league stuff), but so far, he's 1-1 with a 3.71 ERA (2 games vs. Detroit and 1 vs. Cleveland, yes, but that's not his fault). Garland is 0-2 with a 7.32 ERA (2 games vs. KC and 2 vs. Cleveland). Stewart's WHIP (Walks + Hits per Inning Pitched) is 1.41, while Garland's is 1.63. Stewart's plus is that he's one of 2 lefties in the rotation. Garland's plus is that he's been in the majors since 1999, and today was his 66th career start. Stewart obviously only has 3 career starts. However, that doesn't mean that Garland staying in the rotation is a foregone conclusion when Wright comes back. Garland obviously has had time to learn from and adjust to ML hitting, and so far this season he looks like a rookie. No control, and that's killing him. Like I said, unless he turns it around in the next 3 weeks or so, I say Wright needs to replace him, and Stewart can stay right where he is. Like DJ said during today's game, the pitcher who's pitching the best should be the one to stay -- that makes sense to me, especially when 1 of the 2 is STINKING it up. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
  15. Yep, 19 2/3 IP this season, 16 ER, and 32 baserunners. And I don't understand the argument "the defense didn't help him any in his first start". He gave up 0 unearned runs that game. I realize that players can f*** up easy plays and not get an error for it, but to blame the defense for EARNED runs is ridiculous.
  16. Well I agree as long as Jon isn't a pot head. I don't care what someone does on their own time, but if those actions hinder his on-field performance (and being a pot head would do that), that's when I have a problem with it. I hope Jon's not a pot head. I don't remember who suggested he's a pot head -- but whoever did, what basis do you have for making that statement? Any? Or are you just talking out of your ass?
  17. Anything less than 2 out of 3 from either team..... especially with the A's and Seattle afterwards..... and JM should join the ranks of the unemployed while the Sox could still salvage the season. It won't happen (firing JM) but it should. It should have happened last year....when he lost control of the team. Right now....we are winning based pretty much on the talent of this team. If Loaiza cools off in May like he has in the past....we might be in for yet another disappointment, much like last year. Yes, Loaiza's success is going to be very much needed for the Sox to contend for a playoff spot. He said recently that this is the first time in years that he's 100% healthy, so I don't expect him to fall off the map like he's done in previous seasons. I know he'll cool down some, but as long as he can keep his ERA under 4.00, he'll be a valuable asset to this team. Hell, if he can keep his ERA like right around 4.00....I'll be happy. Cal Eldred helped the White Sox win the division in 2000 by winning 10 games and only losing 2....with an ERA of about 4.50. Wins are the most important stat....it shows you can keep your team in the game...or if given a lead, you can hold the lead. It wouldn't make a difference to me in the slightest if a guy gave up 8 runs and the Sox won 9-8 compared to a guy giving up no runs and the Sox winning 9-0. The win is the important thing....not low ERAs. Granted, wins are what it's all about. But, our offense to this point has been no where near the 2000 team. We're very inconsistent so far, and I don't think we can afford to have any pitcher with an ERA over 4.00. Now, I feel that our bats will wake up (mainly guys like Frank and Paulie) soon, but until they do, we can't afford to give up 5 or more runs, as we'll lose most of the time. And I looked it up, and so far what I said is true. When giving up less than 5, we are 11-2. When allowing 5 or more runs, we are 0-6.
  18. People with morals and principles don't fraternize with criminals.

  20. Everyone in pro sports is a pot head... Shut the f*** up. What a moronic comment. i would say its probally 50-50 on the pot and pro sports. And when you factor in how many of today's athletes beat their wives, drive drunk, murder, and hang out with gangs, it's no wonder why there are very few athletes that kids can actually look to as a positive role model. It's a shame that so many choose to ruin their lives. So much talent, and such little common sense...sad.

  23. His ERA is 7.32. That didn't come from "1 bad start". He's looked bad 2 times now, looked OK another time, and had a very good start vs. KC last week. And yeah, if Buehrle had a bad start 50% of the time, we'd send him down too. Buehrle is consistently good 70-80% of the time, while Garland is more around 25-30%. That's unacceptable for a supposed contending team. -------------------- Change -------------------- I just looked at the numbers, and I retract something that I said. He hasn't had 2 bad, 1 OK, and 1 good start. He's had 3 bad starts, and 1 good one. 1st start @ KC -- 4 IP, 5 ER, 10 baserunners 2nd start @ CLE -- 6 IP, 5 ER, 10 baserunners 3rd start vs. KC -- 7 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners 4th start vs. CLE -- 2 2/3 IP, 5 ER, 7 baserunners 7.32 ERA -- even more unacceptable than I ever thought. Say bye to Jon and hello to Dan when he's ready. Hopefully he won't be 0-5 by the time that happens.
  24. After seeing Jon Garland once again have a disappointing start (so far he's had 2 bad ones, 1 mediocre one, and 1 good one), I have to believe that when Dan Wright is healthy, Jon needs to be the guy sent down to the minors. He's young, yes, but he's been with us for like 4 years now, and I think it's about time he gets a wake up call. He seems to not understand how to pitch, and maybe getting shipped to AAA will make him figure it out real fast. This team, in order to be a legitimate contender for the WS, needs to have 5 starters that are going to give you a reasonable chance to win every day. Of course you're not going to win every day, but when your SP gives you a performance like Jon gave today, you'll NEVER win. Granted, the Sox had plenty of opportunities to put some runs on the board early, but when you give up as many runs as Jon did to a relatively poor offensive team, there is a problem. Jon has the tools to be a solid major leaguer, and I'm by no means giving up on him -- but he just needs to get his s*** together while it's early in the season, and not let this high ERA carry into the summer months where he'll get ROCKED.
  25. All I can speak on in regard to D'Angelo is what I've seen on the field while wearing a Sox uniform. I know nothing of his work ethic, of his minor league past, or anything else to do with his previous experience. That said.... 44 Games, .316 avg (177 AB), .413 OBP, .503 SLG, .916 OPS, 35 runs, 3 errors. That's only about 1/4 of a season, but so far, you can't argue that he's played excellent ball for the Sox.
