A 1 game losing streak and they suddenly are finished? I think we should wait until they lost 6 or 7 in a row before we proclaim them as dead. 3 weeks of great baseball in April doesn't win you a WS, and 1 blown 9th inning lead doesn't cost you the division.

Sounds good, but a baseball team cannot market themselves as having violent games! Hockey is one thing -- fighting and aggression is an integral part of the game, and it's to be expected to a degree. That type of stuff happens in baseball every now and then, but to make it the norm would be a shame. Baseball is a great game in itself -- it doesn't need to add ultimate fighting to its repertoire to make it marketable.

It was actually better than that. 2 down, nobody on, Frank down 0-2 in the count to Santana, who was pitching great. 3rd pitch ball, then the swing and a miss that wasn't called. Frank yelled out "dammit" as he tried to check it up, but apparently the 1st base ump didn't care. Then 2 straight balls and Frank is on base, and Magglio take it out to RF for a 5 run lead. Definitely Frank's best game of the year...2 for 3, 2 walks, HR, 2 runs scored But, most importantly, a MUCH needed Sox victory.

Roman, Hawk got as upset as I've EVER heard an announcer get. He was SCREAMING, and he damned near started cussing. It was surreal!

I'm sitting here after work getting ready to hit the hay while I watch SportsCenter to catch up on yesterday's occurances. They start showing stuff from yesterday's Sox/Twins game, and the caption at the bottom of the screen says "More Comiskey Violence". First off, there hasn't been really any violence to date. The most violent act occured when the Royals stomped that moron a few times and bloodied him up. His "attack" of the umpire was nothing more than an attempted dry hump, and it failed miserably. Secondly, how is it "violence" when the benches clear and no real aggression is shown? Sure, there was some action, but no punches and no hard shoves. Where's the violence? I think the media does a good job of reporting the action to fans who may have missed it, but in this case they are EXTREMELY sensationalizing it. I realize that's their job, but they should at least try to stay remotely accurate and honest.

I'd like see one of our guys do the charging if we're going to fight, but it would be nice to see some REAL fireworks tonight (not just the sparkly ones in the sky). Let's see who responds to this -- the Twins or us.

Well Hawk's calling it like it is like he always does. Bruce Froemming needs to be fined and suspended for that crappy, horrible decision. Jon is awesome, and it's nice to see some god damed f***ing emotion from this team for once (OK, a lot of it came from Hawk, but still).

Make Hawk the new manager!!! HERE WE GO!!! f*** YEAH BABY, SOME FIRE!!!!

Rios for Lee isn't a bad idea, but I think I'd put Rios in CF and give Rowand a night off. The only disagreement I'd have with tonight's lineup is PK should probably not be in there. Give Daubach or someone a shot, since PK obviously isn't getting it done.

He never said "deal", but I guess I'll pay up if I'm ever at a game with him.

I'll bet ya an order of nachos and a Pepsi if we ever go to a Sox game together. Deal?

Im just saying with all of "Kennys boys" he probably does have a lot of influence. But Im not changing my stance that our poor play is JMs fault... The hitters are the ones swinging the bats and the pitchers are the ones throwing the ball. How a guy in the dugout can be blamed when they do it poorly is beyond me. He knows who struggling and whos not. Then when he decides to put one of the strugglers in, its his fault... With hitters, you're right -- he should give PK a day or 2 off to let him clear his mind. Put Frank at first and give someone like Graffy a day at DH. With pitchers, though, you can't let them work out of struggling while sitting down in the pen. They need to get out there and have a good outing and work their way out of it.

Link Ballots are available at the ballpark tonight, available online on May 1st. Time to rock the ballots guys Ya know...I love the Sox, and I would like to see many representatives at the AS game (especially with it being in our home park this time), but I'm not going to blindly vote for every Sox player just for the sake of voting for a Sox player. So far, the only Sox players worthy of an AS vote are Jimenez, Valentin, and Loaiza (the most worthy of all so far). Guys like Magglio, Frank, Crede, Colon, and even Buehrle (to a lesser extent) haven't shown me that they are worthy of my vote. Hopefully they can kick it into gear and make me WANT to vote for them, as opposed to just voting for them to "rock the vote".

Ya know...a bench clearing brawl doesn't sound too bad right about now. We're playing the hated Twins, and the Sox HAVE to be getting frustrated at this point -- so a brawl is very possible sometime this series. I'm convinced that Frank is 1 HBP from the wrong pitcher away from charging and kicking some MAJOR ass. He's been hit 5 times already, and if someone on the Twins hits him and looks at Frank the wrong way afterwards, I think it'll be on.

I think Gordon has definitely been inconsistent so far in '03, but to say "get rid of him" or to call him a "flash in the pan" (nice pun, btw) is IMO a bit premature. This guy saved 54 games in a row just a couple seasons ago, and in the second half of last season had a very nice ERA (somewhere around 3.00). That is nothing to sneeze at, and I think we should stick with him for a couple more weeks. If he continues to choke away leads, then we obviously need to do something about it. But, to get rid of a veteran like Gordon 22 games into the season is not prudent IMO.

You're assuming Jose hasn't spoken up in the clubhouse. Maybe he has already, and the guys didn't listen. If that's the case, he has every right to go to the media with it as long as he doesn't mention anybody by name. Making general comments about the teams' shortcomings to the media just might be what this team needs. I sure hope so.

Last year PK went public against Thomas and we had a whole clubhouse nightmare. I dont want that to happen this year... COMPLETELY different scenario. Paul mentioned Frank by name. Jose mentioned NO names. The ones who are dogging it/getting down on themselves know who they are, and I hope they heed Jose's words and try to not waste this season.

Well hey, what are we arguing? I mean, steff knows everything! What the heck? Chill out a little, will ya? Christ. No need to flip out like that... Nope.. Steff knows FAR from everything. As a matter of fact.. I bet I barely know anything about what goes on behind those doors. Which is exactly why I feel confident in saying you are incorrect in your OPINIONS of what is going on. Why exactly am I incorrect? Do you seriously believe that JM makes any attempt to motivate this team? I sure dont! And even if were a bit unsure of his motivational skills, we can still see hes an idiot due to some of his pitching moves. And not to mention all of his darn tinkering! Ya know what Roman.. I'm done. As someone who's spent a lot of time around this team, you're right. I don't know s*** about anything and of course the people I know are lying to me. JM sucks and he should be fired. There. Done. Over. Bubye. Roman gives up too easily, and you give up just when it starts to get good.

LOL, I thought you said you were going to bed? I can see that 2 hours or so of cooling down hasn't helped.
-
The Sox hitters were the ones out there swinging the bats -- if they're content with a 2-run lead through 3 innings with a 12-9 record, maybe we need to get rid of those who feel that way. And it's always easy to second guess the manager after the fact. Hindsight is 20/20, ya know.
-
Well, the ultimate example is the Angel team from last season. They had no business being in the WS, let alone winning it, but their manager rubbed off on all players and they gave a great overall team effort. As Jason is always saying, I wish the Sox would do that. Pasqua for new Sox manager!!!!!!!!

Lets think for a moment. I cant think of a certain example but Ill just make one up. Lets say theres a man. And this guy gets mad at his wife while hes drunk. So he doesnt really think about it and bashes her over her head with a rum bottle (wait, that sounds a little like Sosa, well whatever). He made a mistake. Does that mean he shouldnt be punished? No, he should be put away. So Cooper made a mistake, lets fire him, he needs the punishment. You guys are talking about firing Manuel for his mistakes, so why cant Cooper be fired for his? The union would never allow him to be fired and the most Crede could have gotten away with saying is that it was a bad call but the ump is only human. The umpires will hold a grudge if you show them up. Yes. 100% correct.
