  1. How does it work? Just like it does on TV?
  2. It's hard to keep up with EVERY thread unless you're here 24/7. Nobody here is THAT big of a degenerate.
  3. Those are good points too, but JR invoked that stupid diminished skills clause this offseason so I dont think he can be trusted... Even if JR can't be trusted...Frank can veto any trade. He's said that if the Sox don't want him, he'd waive it -- but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
  4. I'd use words like "Hall of Fame", "one of the greatest hitters of this era", etc.
  5. There aren't many people here who just blindly support the Sox, and NOBODY here thinks that all is good and that we can't lose. Some of us are more optimistic, but that's not blind support or being naive -- it's just being hopeful. The bottom line is that we're about 50 games into the season. So to call what the Sox are in a "slump" is inaccurate. They're in a bad way right now, but there is enough time left to where they can make things right. It's not going to happen overnight, and it certainly won't come from a win over the Tigers. But, the Sox can use Sunday's win as a building block for this next week on the road. This is a critical road trip -- one in which we need to play .500+ (at least). If we can do that, all is not lost. If we do not, look for some changes to be made. And "I am embarassed to be a Sox fan" doesn't make it sound like you are sticking with the team.
  6. Hero is far too strong of a word, but you're right, he deserves much more respect for what he's accomplished in his career and for what he's done for the Sox organization. The man is a Hall of Famer, and judging by the way some of you treat him, you'd think he was the biggest bum in the history of the game. Shame on all of you who mistreat Frank.
  7. 1) KW can't just do whatever he wants -- he has to have JR's OK before he makes a trade 2) JR and Frank are close (by what I've heard), so JR wouldn't allow KW to trade Frank away 3) Frank has a no-trade clause, and can veto any trade and 4) Nobody wanted Frank in the off-season, why would they want him now with the numbers he's put up? Basically, don't look for Frank to go anywhere anytime soon.
  8. Frank = #1 on the team in OBP. He's at .405 -- the only Sox regular with a .400+ OBP. Graffy is #2 (.388) and Jimenez is #3 (.379). And on a side note, Frank is the team leader in SLG % (for everyday players) at .497. Magglio is a close 2nd at .489, and Lee is 3rd. Frank has 33 walks, while Konerko, Lee, and Magglio have combined for 37. I'd say Frank has been a disappointment, no doubt -- but even in his "horrible years", he's helping the team more than some of the younger guys are.
  9. For some odd reason, unbeknownst to me, everybody here has their lips secured quite tightly on Vals rear. Yet everyone hates Thomas, who, if anybody really cares, leads this franchise alltime in rbis, homeruns, walks and many other offensive categories. But theyd all rather crowd around a guy whos hitting .226... I don't understand the contempt for Frank either. It doesn't make sense.
  10. "If" we fail, or "when" we fail -- which is it? And you failed to address my main argument -- if this team is that bad, why are you here?
  11. This offense scored 850 runs last year....and you're going to try to tell me that this offense sucks? Exactly.
  12. With analysis like that, it's hard to argue with you.
  13. I personally have said this 5 or 6 times this season, including after today's game. I keep hoping that one of these times, I'll be right! Well that's not a very good way to think. I hope you are wrong. Frank looks completely lost at the plate. I don't understand it. True. Average is about as good as we can expect out of most of our players so far in '03. Considering how poorly he started the year, his numbers are actually quite good. But, overall, they're just decent, you're right Yep. Aside from Loaiza and Marte, nobody. Heh, we aren't quite THAT desperate. I think that if the Sox start to trade away a few guys, they should try to get Damon from Boston (maybe for Koch). That would fill our need for a CF, and could maybe put him lead-off or 2nd in the line-up.
  14. He must have lost the corked bat he was using at the beginning of the season. .198, LOL...too funny.
  15. He knows about as much as any of us do, I'd say. And I too think it saved his job, but of course if the Sox continue to play poorly, it will only be delaying the inevitable. But, if the Sox can turn it around, there's no doubt that today's game will be the reason he wasn't fired.
  16. There are hidden gems in every team's minor league system. The challenge is identifying actual potential from the run-of-the-mill minor leaguer.
  17. Heh. I don't see the point in following minor league players. The majority of the ones that are great end up being poor-average major leaguers, and ones that are decent in the minors seem to do better in the majors. Just get 'em up to the bigs and we'll see how good they are (or are not).
  18. Jason, lay off of Jose. He's not the only guy stinking it up, so don't single him out.
  19. Well, that's not going to happen. It's not practical. But, look for JM to get fired if we don't play MUCH better over the next few games. I think his job may have been saved today. But, I'm not an "insider", so what do I know?
  20. You should always speak your mind -- but you MUST stick to what you say and not go back on it. If the Sox start winning, I can EASILY see you saying "This is the best team ever!" or something to that effect, where as now, you are saying "This team sucks!".
  21. Now I understand you, you do not sleep very much Yeah, that must be it
  22. If quitting early leads to the Sox eventually winning, we are poised to win the Series this year, because there are quite a few morons in here who have given up on this season completely.
  23. Hurray you can count, take your 1 win as the best they can in the series and sleep well tonight, oh what great momentum for toronto. I will sleep well tonight. I always do when the Sox win. I don't know how well you'll sleep, though, being as negative as you are.
  24. You have been saying WAIT and see since KC opener at some point waiting has to end. So far I'd say there have been 4 or 5 moments where I've thought "This could be the turning point", and today was the most recent one. The HUGE grand slam by Carlos, coupled with Crede's game-winner in the 12th have me VERY cautiously-optimistic. If we don't respond with 4 wins in our next 6 games or so, we will have wasted the momentum. We're playing awful, and I'm looking for a bright spot dude -- just shut the hell up if you don't like optimism, and go into your corner and think negative thoughts if you want. Either way, you are not a Sox fan, and IF things turn around, I will remember your comments over the past couple of days. And when things do not turn around you can live in your hole in the ground. Some of us SOX fans have scene this dog and pony show for too many years, at some piont you have to be a realist. You've "scene" this for years eh? Brilliant. Anyway, there's no doubt that this team is better than they've shown so far, and we're still very much in the hunt since we play in a god awful division. :fyou for being a pessimist, and for me for being an optimist.
  25. That's the 2nd time you've used the "Get a CLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" line, and it was even more gay this time. Anyway man, I never ever ever ever ever ever ever (get the point?) said that 1 win against the Tigers was acceptable. Show me where I f***ing said that. Show me, and if you can't, SHUT THE MOTHERf***ING HELL UP. After losing the first 2, we did as good as we could in the series -- winning 1 out of 3. And the way the game was going for the first few innings, it looked like we were going to get swept, but we came back and won it with a dramatic Crede HR. I have "no expectation to win", yet you're the one making all the negative comments? That makes a lot of sense, nitwit.
