  1. I disagree Jason. Borchard had BARELY reached 3rd by the time the RF'er had the ball. It was like he was running in molasses. I don't know what he was doing, but he should have scored EASILY on that play. If it had been Jose, the play wouldn't have even drawn a throw. BUT, it doesn't matter much now. That run wasn't worth 4, so BFD.
  2. No. If you're going to bench Frank, bench him. This pinch-hitting s*** is pointless. If the goal of benching him is to help him clear his mind, how does pinch-hitting him late in the game accomplish that? If he gets a hit, great, but 75% of the time (since his average is around .250) he's going to get out. I said in the chatroom earlier that I, for the life of me, don't understand why Rios is hitting 3rd. If you want to play him instead of Frank, fine -- but why not put Magglio in the #3 hole -- at least he's been doing pretty well lately (11 game hitting streak). Sox lose 5-1.
  3. The Pirates got 9 runs in the 8th, LOL.
  4. Rocky Biddle (involved in the trade Colon) -- 4.10 ERA, 3-1, 14 saves (15 opps), 25 k's in 26 1/3 IP, 1.29 WHIP Antonio Osuna (involved in the trade for Colon) -- 2.08 ERA, 1-1, 16 k's in 17 1/3 IP, 1.56 WHIP Jeff Liefer (involved in the trade for Colon) -- .195, 3 HR, 17 RBI, .225 OBP (WTF?), .576 OPS, 21 k's, 3 walks -- WHAT THE HELL? Royce Clayton (left via free agency) -- .198, 6 HR, 21 RBI, .284 OBP (LOL), .625 OPS, 31 k's, 21 walks Ray Durham (traded to Oakland, now in SF) -- .309, 3 HR, 5 RBI, .425 OBP, .898 OPS, 23 k's, 22 walks Keith Foulke (traded to Oakland for Koch) -- 2.10 ERA, 3-0, 12 saves (14 opps), 27 k's in 25 2/3, 0.86 WHIP Kenny Lofton (traded to SF, now in PIT) -- .302, 5 HR, 17 RBI, .369 OBP, 9 steals (3 CS), .816 OPS, 18 walks, 18 strikeouts Josh Fogg (involved in Ritchie trade) -- 4.35 ERA, 1-2, 11 k's in 20 2/3 IP, 1.16 WHIP Kip Wells (involved in Ritchie trade) -- 3.30 ERA, 1-2, 49 k's in 57 1/3 IP, 1.19 WHIP ---------------------------- I'm sure there are a couple of others that I'm forgetting, but those I think are the main ones. The ones doing the best are Foulke and Lofton. Kip, Biddle, Osuna, and Durham are doing pretty well. While Clayton and Liefer are sucking it up. Fogg hasn't really pitched enough this year to get a read on how he's doing.
  5. But remember...he's leaving any moment, and he's not in charge of anything anymore.
  6. Norton was awful when he was with the Sox. He'd overthrow the first baseman more than anybody I've ever seen. They needed a net over the 1st base dugout to protect the fans!!
  7. Yes, over a period of time, stats are very useful.
  8. ..... and he's getting rocked. Looks like #300 will have to wait until later this week.
  9. Probably. But, how often does a 1st baseman have to do that? I see it every now and then, but it's a rare occurance.
  10. You tried to be nice? Where was I when this occured? Considering he started the season off HORRIBLY, it doesn't surprise me that his OPS is down. If you take a look at his numbers and exclude the first 2 weeks, I'd be surprised if his OPS didn't exceed .810. For the most part, he's not hitting 5th this year -- I don't know what games you've been watching. He's primarily hit out of the #6 spot (after Konerko). He's had 103 AB's in the #6 hole, compared to 53 in the #5 hole. And you are forgetting that this season, the TEAM OBP is down from what it was last year (in 2002 it was .338, and in 2003 it's .317). So, Carlos has NOT had more RBI opportunites than last season. If anything, they've been even -- because the guys ahead of him (Frank, Magglio, Paulie) are leaving a lot of guys on base. And how are HR's "meaningless"? I didn't think his GS yesterday was meaningless. Well, I agree that he should be at .900+ OPS. He's not walking NEARLY enough so far in '03 (10 walks vs. 34 strikeouts), and he's not going to right field enough. He's gotten pull-happy, and he needs to get away from that. Not particularly.
  11. I was hoping to be the only one who would pick him, but I'll take FRANK "MR HOF" THOMAS
  12. Like I said...he's on pace to exceed his average year by 9 HR and 28 RBI. That is an improvement.
  13. You could say that about several of our hitters, unfortunately Yes, it does seem that way. And it's about time they put him on the field. They said he would be playing more 1st this season than he had in the past, and he has yet to play 1 inning at 1st. I'm gonna be at the games in LA, and I don't want to see my favorite player sitting on the bench, so I hope he does well and that he gets some PT. At this point, I'm willing to try pretty much anything to get Frank (and the rest of this team for that matter) going.
  14. Oh i suspect he is "getting" something else too......... Perhaps...But it's all him doing what he's doing...Gotta give him the props he deserves for continuously improving. improving on what... he got a lucky hit.... geez us.. if you were at the game sunday and watched him twirling his glove around and watching the pretty lites on the led ribbon, instead of paying attention to the game then i guess you can say he was improving his acrobatics and color knowledge skills yes, but his game???? lmao... yeah not in this lifetime .... dumbass is too easily distracted by silly s*** to keep his head in the game............. 9 HR, 32 RBI -- on pace for 32 HR and 113 RBI. Up from a career avg of 23 HR and 85 RBI. I would call that an improvement. You can call his GS yesterday "lucky", but that's just further proof of your bias toward the man. How many big hits will Carlos have to get for us before you give the guy credit?
  15. The big flaw is they aren't getting guys on base. One guy that would be an awesome pickup is Trot Nixon. I think the Red Sox would be interested in a bullpen/Konerko deal for Nixon and a prospect. The question is would trading Flash be worth getting Nixon. Konerko/Koch/cash for Nixon/Damon.
  16. Yes, that rusted Pinto is his rig.
  17. Be lenient with the guy. Afterall, he DID think Yofu was a SS!!! I've gotta admit, I don't know Yofu from Adam, but I certainly wouldn't start saying "Blah Blah is our future SS!" if I didn't know who the guy was. , theoldroman brings some good comic relief, though.
  18. Yeah, and then after the game, theoldroman (who just a couple days ago put Joe Crede on his "permanent blacklist") was praising Joe on how clutch of a hitter he is. , too funny.
  19. I HIGHLY doubt KC would trade Beltran to a division rival -- unless we make them an offer they can't refuse.
  20. Yes. Eric Munson threw the ball away on an easy grounder, and the runner (it was Graffy) made it to 2nd. Then they walked PK, then Crede took him out.
  21. Did he get the 3 run shot off sparks? Yes. We had a guy on 2nd (2 out), and PK came up, and they decided to walk him and get to Crede, and on a 2-1 pitch, Crede took it out to left, about 10 feet over the wall. Hawk and the crowd went pretty nuts.
  22. Well, so when you left it should have been 5-5. Glover, Koch, and ummm...someone else maybe pitched scoreless ball, and in the 12th Crede came up and hit a 3-run bomb to win it. That's basically the story, heh.
  23. So is it a thing over the full season like it is with Hawk, DJ, and the Crew? And the winner gets...bragging rights?
