Hawk and DJ's scores are about a half hour behind. It's 7-3 Seattle, but the Twins have 2 on with 0 out.
-
Ahhh. Sacrifice fly scores Olivo, and the Sox lead it 3-1. Beautiful execution by Jimenez.
-
Passed ball allows Olivo to get to 3rd with 0 outs. If we don't get this run...
-
JM said that Rick would only be used in emergency situations. With the rainout yesterday, all of our guys should be available in the pen.

18 June 2000, Sox did it to the Yankees, 9-0 end of 1st, final 17-4 Did every Sox hitter get a hit? Or was it all but 1?
-
Atta way Flash. 4-6-3 DP ends the inning. Sox up 2-1 after 7.

and batting into a double play, that would be Jose - hey, it rhymes! are we going to have these Jose minute by minute updates all season? then cover everything he does - (and doesn't do) What "minute by minute" updates? I saw a lot of people ripping on the guy, so I wanted to point out that he's having a good game. These "good or bad call it as you see it" philosophies work both ways man. Jose did hit into a DP, but he ran HARD and almost beat the throw. Nobody else on our team would have made it that close. He's 2 for 3 with a double, run scored, single, stolen base, and a beautiful leaping catch. But yes, let's focus in on the double play that he hit into.
-
MB walks a guy, and there's runners on 1st and 2nd with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th. Flash is coming in. Not a bad game by Mark. He got hit hard, but he battled and has a shot at getting his first win since April 10.

Kenny Rogers has been pulled from what has to be his worst major league game of his career. 1 1/3 IP, 10 hits, 7 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO. His ERA goes from a decent 4.31 to 5.20. Yikes.
-
Kenny Rogers in 2002 -- 13 wins, 3.84 ERA, 210 2/3 IP Jamie Moyer in 2002 -- 13 wins, 3.32 ERA, 230 2/3 IP Those numbers are pretty close to each other. Both are "aging". Are you surprised that Moyer is still in the majors? BTW, Jamie is making $6.5M this season. Rogers is making $2M.
-
In the first inning, all but 1 of Seattle's hitters got a basehit off of Kenny Rogers. I've never seen anything close to that before!
-
Kenny Rogers, last season, had an ERA of 3.84, won 13 games, and he pitched 210 2/3 innings. Why would you be surprised that he was signed?
-
Yeah, and even after missing that easy ball, he still didn't ask for a pair of sunglasses DA got lucky for that triple, he hit it to the guy who is truely the laziest SOB I have seen in the majors right now. I'd be somewhat stunned if he doesn't have a pair of shades on when he comes back on the field. He draws a nice walk. Let's see if Magglio can do something about it.
-
This is amazing. Rogers is getting slaughtered.
-
D'Angelo has the 2 toughest components of the cycle. All he needs is a double and a single. Sox up 2-1 after 4 1/2. Kenny Rogers has allowed 5 straight singles to start the game against Seattle. Well, Rogers finally didn't allow a single. This time he allowed a triple, and it's 5-0 Seattle with 0 outs in the 1st. Frank not wearing sunglasses for a day game?
-
Like I said earlier, our defense is not bad, and we're showing it so far today. A nice running catch by Lee, a leaping grab of a liner by Jose, and now a BEAUTIFUL short-hop-backhander by Jimenez, along with a running throw and stretch by Frank to get Shane Spencer. Mark's getting a lot of help today -- hopefully it won't go to waste. 2 down in the bottom of the 4th, Sox up 2-1, and MB with 4 K's so far.
-
The Indians load the bases with 2 outs, but Buehrle gets Brandon Phillips looking to end the threat. Mark's getting hit hard -- I hope he squares himself away. Otherwise, the Sox will not win this game. End 3, Sox up 2-1.
-
I can see that the Sox don't have many fans, as this board is virtually dead. Maybe it's because it's a Sunday? Anyway, D'Angelo just took one out to RF, and the Sox now regain the lead, 2-1.
-
2 singles for the Indians put runners on 1st and 3rd, but Buehrle induces a 6-4-3 DP. Run scores, but there are now 2 outs in the bottom of the 2nd. 1-1 is the score. NICE leaping catch by Jose to end the inning. Jose so far = 1 for 1 w/ a double, run scored, nice defensive catch, and started that DP. Nice.
-
However you spin it, there is NO excuse for a major league umpire to have a strike zone that changes as much as the wind does in Chicago. If he's going to call the high strike (or the low strike for that matter), do it -- but do it for BOTH sides. Friday night, that did not occur.
-
BEAUTIFUL baserunning by Jose to score on that little pop up to left. 1-0 Sox.
-
Why wasn't Paul in my TV screen when the throw reached 1st base? And why wasn't he bunting? A .200 hitter should bunt EVERY time with a runner on 2nd and nobody out. He actually got the job done, though.
-
Maybe Texas should trade for Aaron Miles and put him in there in A-Rod's spot
-
A player can stay in game-mode MUCH more easily if he's on the field between at-bats as opposed to sitting on the bench. It will help him forget about a bad AB -- he won't have to sit on the bench and brood over it. Something like a .330 career hitter while playing 1B, as opposed to .280 at DH. If he starts DH'ing again full-time, Manuel is a moron.

I face the truth when I see it. I see none in that statement. Damned right. We've got the pieces in place, IMO, but some of the pieces are kinda twisted and bent at this point in time.
