  1. Not a good statistic... 2001 -- 1.07 WHIP (221 1/3, 188 hits, 48 walks) 2002 -- 1.24 WHIP (239, 236 hits, 61 walks) 2003 -- 1.44 WHIP (58 1/3, 63 hits, 21 walks) A baserunner and a half per inning is going to catch up to him very very soon. Look for his ERA to be around 4.50 at season's end if he doesn't turn it around.
  2. Correct. Any nimrod can make a guess and get lucky every once in a while -- it's a matter of percentages.
  3. Well that's pretty much my point. He's pitching pretty much the same, but our offense has just sucked. And, he allowed 7 UN-earned runs last season. Already in '03, he's allowed 6. With the way we're scoring runs, those 6 runs have probably cost him 2 games. For the 10,000th time, it's time for this team to wake the f*** up.
  4. Yeah i had originally said 85 wins. I am going to stick with that for NOW, but i may have to adjust it if they dont get rid of JM, KW, or both very soon. Well, 85 wins would be an 85-77 season. At this point, 8 over .500 is a LONG ways away.
  5. And I stated twice in 2 separate threads the occupation of the sources. Well steff, whats up? Is KW gone by the end of the day or what? Yeah, we started hearing these "KW is gonna be gone any moment" rumors last week. Is it any moment yet?
  6. He's obviously not pitching as well as he's capable of, but his ERA is a fairly respectable 3.86. Last year it was 3.58 -- not MUCH lower than it is so far in '03 -- and he won 19 games. I think we may need to realize that this team is simply not as good as last year's team -- a team that struggled to play a .500 season.
  7. O'Reilly is one of very few newsmen who have sack. He's blown the whistle on Jackson many times, as well as other crooks. Maybe he should be our new GM. What say you?
  8. She's "not at liberty to say", I haven't asked for names either. I just want to know what the credentials are of her "source". Appears that her "source" is nothing more than the voices in her head.
  9. .349 avg, and what, a .355 OBP? Miles' numbers remind me a lot of Mike Caruso's. Caruso in 1998 = .306 avg, .331 OBP (523 AB's, 14 walks) = what we thought was a pretty good year considering he was a rookie Caruso in 1999 = .250 avg, .280 OBP (529 AB's, 20 walks) = bye bye See what happens to guys who don't walk when their average slips? They end up out of the majors.
  10. Young people who ruin their lives by doing stupid stuff like this likely didn't have bright futures ahead of them anyway, so they might as well break the law at a young age and end up behind bars where they belong. Clujer, I disagree with that statement. Even if these are kids of a moron it doesn't mean they have no future just because they made one foolish mistake. The 21 year old is in more trouble than the 16 year old. The 16 year old will be tried as a juvenile and it shouldn't go on his record if in fact North Carolina state law is the same of Illinois state law. All they did was make a mistake, a mistake they will regret and pay back to the community in some way. To say they have no future though is going overboard. CWSOX45 I never said they don't have a bright future ahead. I said they LIKELY don't have a bright future ahead.
  11. nope sure wasnt but i can comprehend what i read.......... which is more important??????? uh huh.. thats what i thought......have a good day....... Depends on how long it takes to decipher what it is you're supposed to be comprehending.
  12. And typing for accuracy wasn't in whatever school system you attended, I see.
  13. If only... Anyway, off to something fun...Laker time!
  14. hmm last time i checked JESUS CHRIST was crusified............so you can quit with your holier than thou attitude.... we never said anything about holding people responsible for their actions was wrong............you just apply the punishment to the crime....a house party when parents arent home is not a serious offense.....geez us every kid in america has tried it at least once or twice.....unless of couse they were locked in the cellar...... Yes, Christ chose to be crucified to atone for the sins of mankind. What is your point in bringing that up?
  15. That Jay is guilty of plagarism.
  16. You said... YOU are the one that came up with this story of damage being caused from some party. And he wasn't punished -- that means a lot
  17. I love how the fact that I believe in holding people accountable for what they do gets to you people. Sounds like some of you have skeletons in the closet. Sad but true.
  18. Heh...should have put Michael Jordan in green, as it was a joke.
  19. Obviously not a very responsible one. Parents go away and he gets in trouble. Some "adult".
  20. My mom (my parents are divorced so I lived with her as per usual) was ALWAYS home when I got home from school. That makes a HUGE difference in how a child turns out. If you think otherwise, I guess we'll disagree (what new?). Obviously there's much more to parenting than that, but my mom did a very good job raising me (as did my dad, but I didn't see him nearly as much as I did my mom).
  21. So he had absentee parents. Lovely.
  22. I just looked at Harold's career stats. I never realized how good his numbers are. He should probably be in the HOF. Although, to say "Harold has more RBI than Belle" is unfair -- he played 10 more seasons than Albert did. As for Jim Rice, he should be in the Hall too with those numbers.

Going into the 9th, it was Edgar, Olerud, Cameron. Edgar singled, and Marte was brought in to face Olerud. I think he popped out or something, then Cameron hit that ball to LF and Bloomquist (pinch runner for Edgar) got tagged out following the run down, and the last guy struck out (don't recall who, but he was a righty). I don't know if Koch is injured or not, but either way, I have a sneaking suspicion that Marte very well could be named closer before too long. He's got an ERA under 2.00, and even if/when Koch turns it around, I think Marte might be a better choice as closer. Even Koch at his best doesn't have an ERA under 2.00. Could be interesting.
