  1. As a loyal fan who's not freaking out over one loss (sure, I was pissed as it was happening, but now that I've had time to put it in perspective, I realize it's not a big deal AT ALL), I'm going to defend the Sox when the idiot fans (some of which are members of this board) start giving up. To say that any player or manager should be traded or fired after 1 f***ing game is moronic, and I'm going to point out such comments and challenge ANYONE who makes them. Someone on here wanted Manuel to bat Daubach for Thomas, who had been on base 3 of the Sox 5 times! That is simply a retarded suggestion. If you want to wave the white flag now, go right ahead, but don't come here and spew your negativity after 1 game. It's just pointless and ridiculous to do so, and any half-way intelligent baseball fan knows it.
  2. Hawk calls it like it is, and he didn't question the move. So, it must not be that abnormal of a strategy. The fact that it didn't work is the reason you're even mentioning it. If the ball had been hit to Jimenez and he threw out the runner at home, would you feel the same way? You - "Yes" Me - "Bulls***"
  3. First you say that a play in the 2nd inning cost us the game, and now you're giving up on D'Angelo after 1 game? I think I get the picture as to what kind of fan you are.

I prefer "colma" -- has a much nicer ring to it.
  5. What did Manuel do wrong? Nothing Lee had a poor game, you're right And why should Rowand give back his pay? He played very good defense out there in CF, as he saved at least 1 run with his relay play and diving catch "Real offense"? Nice to see you're giving up after 1 game. I don't want to see you say s*** when this team starts clicking. I will remember your comments, and will point out your hypocricy when you say "this offense is great!". :fyou what did manuel do wrong??? well he pulled the right side of the infield in , in the 2nd inning...of course a weaker grounder goes through just out of jimenez reach....who in their right mind brings the infield in in the 2nd inning ???.. also, kc used all right handed pitchers and daubach and rios never left the bench... Wow, what was I thinking? Pulling the infield in definitely lost us that game. You're right. note -- that was said with much sarcasm
  6. It will only progress to a civil war if people keep making absurd statements. And it will be about something much bigger than slavery -- it will be about baseball. Heh, j/k.
  7. I am really 100% with clujer on this - hope he doesn't change his mind just cuz I agreed! cwsox, I don't agree with many people on here lately, but you're becoming one of the few that I do see eye-to-eye with. And no, I don't change my mind just for the sake of argument. Plenty of people disagree with what I say when I speak my mind, so there's no need to!

Yes, a "colma" would be bad...the only thing worse that I can think of would be a "coma".

WTF man? Calling cwsox "almighty" because he's right and you're wrong? Childish tactics.
  10. LOL. Good idea. I suggest we remember who says what, and see if they backtrack later in the year when the Sox are kicking everyone's ass. Everyone who gives up at any point should be banned from this board IMHO. ESPECIALLY after 1 lousy f***ing game.

Damn, if we should trade Carlos, I guess we should trade Jimenez (0-4), Valentin (0-4, error), Konerko (0-4), and Gordon (9.00 ERA) as well. Afterall, they also had bad game (emphasis on game, being singular) :fyou, dumbass
  12. If you didn't watch the whole game, you need to STFU and stop making yourself look like an idiot. I watched every pitch, and Frank was the only guy who knew what he was doing on offense. And when I say something moronic, feel free to point it out.
  13. If my pointing out your moronic comments bothers you, that's your tough s***. "Hey, Frank has been on base 3 times today, which is as many as the rest of the team. I know how we can get some runs -- let's take him out!" At least we know who can replace Manuel if he gets fired.
  14. What did Manuel do wrong? Nothing Lee had a poor game, you're right And why should Rowand give back his pay? He played very good defense out there in CF, as he saved at least 1 run with his relay play and diving catch "Real offense"? Nice to see you're giving up after 1 game. 15. Frank was the DH today -- so why would you replace him for Brian Daubach when Frank was the only guy who looked like he knew what he was doing today? It would make no sense -- thus, it was a stupid comment.
  16. Top 9 Mike MacDougal (I've never heard of him, so I'm sure he'll strike out the side) in to close it out for the Royals - Valentin (0-3) ropes one to Tucker in RF, who flubs around but makes the catch. Valentin had a rough day -- an error, and 0-4, but he did hit the ball hard, so it wasn't ALL bad - Thomas (1-1; single, 2 walks) looks at a 1-2 breaking ball for strike 3 - Ordonez (1-3) grounds out to SS to end the game The Royals just kicked our ass with very nice pitching, and SOLID defense. We had our chance in the 7th, but wasted the opportunity. I'm glad we have a day off tomorrow - we'll need it to let our bruises heal.
  17. Why would you take out Frank? He's been on base 3 times today. Don't make stupid comments. Bottom 8 Gordon in for the Sox (sorry, I said it would be Glover -- they fooled me ) - Sweeney smokes a lead-off double down the line - Ibanez flies harmlessly to Carlos. Sweeney stays at 2nd, 1 out - Relaford (hitting for Berger) up. Ball gets away from Sandy, and Sweeney wisely hustles into 3rd safely. Ugh. Now there's a wild pitch, and Sweeney scores. 3-0 Royals, and this game is over. Relaford walks - Harvey flies out to Magglio for out #2 - Berroa up. Ball in the dirt when Relaford is trying to steal. Sandy makes a beautiful pick and throw, but it's not in time. Berroa strikes out on a 3-2 pitch. End 8, and we're down 3-0
  18. Top 8 Buehrle 7 IP, 2 ER, 6 hits, 3 walks, 1 strikeout - Rowand (0-2) leads off grounds out to 2B for the first out - Alomar (0-2) hits a bullet to Randa, who makes a nice play. 2 down Gary Glover warming up in the pen. He'll be in for the Royals' half of the 8th - Jimenez (0-3) hits it hard to Berroa, but today it doesn't matter, we can't do s*** it seems. 1-2-3 Grimsley has retired 6 in a row since we had 1st and 3rd with 0 out Through 7 1/2, still down 2-0
  19. Then why aren't you out there doing it?
  20. Bottom 7 Buehrle still in there for his 7th inning of work - Bunt attempt by Febles (I think) fielded very nicely by Konerko, who dives and puts the tag on for the 1st out - Tucker flies out to Rowand, and very quickly there are 2 down - Randa hits Mark's 96th pitch of the game into the gap in right center, and Aaron makes a very nice diving catch to end the inning That will be it for Mark. 7 IP and 2 ER is very acceptable. He was helped, though, by his offense. That catch by Aaron, an early relay play that got a runner out at home, and the nice play by D'Angelo saved a total of at least 2 runs. He didn't have his best stuff by any stretch, but as usual, he gave the Sox a chance to win. Let's see if the offense can get it together.
  21. Top 7 Jason Grimsley in for the Royals - Thomas (1-1; single, walk) walks on 4 pitches, and looked very nice doing it - Ordonez (0-2) grounds one in the hole, off Randa's glove, it dies in short LF, and Frank very nicely goes into 3rd. 1st and 3rd, 0 out - Konerko (0-2) grounds to Randa, who throws out Frank at home (not Frank's fault, he did the right thing IMO). And why the f*** did Paul leave the bat right there at home? That's the last thing we'd need, is Frank injuring himself on that play. 1st and 2nd, 1 down - Lee goes down on 3 pitches. WTF, he didn't know that he had 2 strikes on him? Unacceptable (on the replay, he's right, the first pitch SHOULD have been called a ball, but the ump called it a strike) - Crede strikes out, and the Sox WASTE a golden opportunity to get back in this game. Not exactly in mid-season form to say the least. Through 6 1/2, we're in trouble, down 2-0
  22. Bottom 6 WGN AGAIN is late returning to the game. That is unacceptable. - Berger grounds out to Jose for the first out - Harvey hits one softly past Konerko for his 2nd double of the game - Berroa grounds weakly to Jose for out #2. Harvey stays put - Mayne grounds one...it's saved from going into RF by Jimenez...Harvey rounds 3rd too far, there's a run-down, and it's BEAUTIFULLY handeled, as Harvey is tagged out at the plate. Nice D by the Sox on that play 86 pitches so far for Buehrle, and he's through 6, but trails it 2-0
  23. Top 6 - Alomar (0-1) breaks his bat as he grounds out to Randa at 3rd - Jimenez (0-2) flies out to Ibanez in LF. 2 down - Valentin (0-2) fans at an off-speed pitch for strike 3 The Sox go in order, and it's not looking very good because aside from Frank, our offense looks pretty awful. Through 5 1/2, Sox down 2-0
  24. Bottom 5 - Tucker pops one in foul territory, and Crede makes a nice play to stick with it to make the play. 1 out - Randa draws a 1-out walk - Sweeney grounds softly to Jimenez. Randa advances to 2nd, but with 2 out Hawk and DJ are talking about how there is an electronic device now that can use camera angles and stuff like that to tell whether or not a pitch is a strike. I agree with Hawk -- I hope they never go to that and replace the home plate umpire. That would be a shame IMO. - Ibanez lines out to Carlos in LF to retire the side 0 runs, 0 hits, 1 walk, 1 left Through 5, 2-0 Royals
  25. Top 5 - Lee (0-1) hits it softly down to Randa, who throws him out. 1 away - Crede (1-1) pops out to Tucker for out #2 WTF? Pena made his decision to start Hernandez based on a coin flip. I hope the Sox never get reduced to that. - Rowand (0-1) swings at ball 4 to retire the side We're down 2-0, and our offense looks f***ing horrible so far today. We're making the Royals pitcher look like Cy Young.
