Yeah, and there was a baseball magazine I was looking at a couple days ago that not only had Colon as our #1, but also had Rauch as our #5. And no mention of Loaiza. Nice mag, eh?
-
Bottom 1, Sox up 1-0 Loaiza on the hill for the Sox - Out somehow - Out somehow - Bagwell looping 2-out single - Berkman goes down swinging End 1, Sox lead it 1-0
-
Cool...Atlanta beats the Dodgers in the NLCS and then the Dodgers get to go on to the World Series anyway? Guess it doesn't matter to me as long as the end result is the Sox winning it all.

Who is going to have a better year Lee or Jimenez?

Nothing, of course. Some people just enjoy beating a dead horse. -
No, we are all white Christians here. Sorry bud. Poor Serbia.

While Heather knows s*** about hockey (but what has she had to work with, not her fault) when it comes to left fielders Heather knows her stuff! Even year despite myself I become more and more of a CLee fan. I think he will put up awesome numbers this year, especially after I read in the Trib that Frank is getting CLee into the weight room a lot this spring. CLee rocks! I was reading an article the other day (not sure if a link to it was posted anywhere on here), but it was about Frank's new attitude and how he's helping some of the guys, especially Carlos. Frank described Carlos as a young Frank, and that he's "stubborn" just like he is. I think that Frank could really be a huge influence on Lee and could help him reach his full potential. -
Granted...but I would think that if there was something truly threatening, he would be sure to put it in his paraphrase of the original. No?
-
"Threatening e-mail"? I don't see anything threatening.

That all depends on how you define "fix the situation". I don't think signing an over-the-hill Finley is an answer. Perhaps if we could get Reynolds for cheap, he could make about 10 starts until Wright is ready (hopefully). I could see trouble, though, if Wright is out for the season, Loaiza stumbles after a month or so, and if Stewart caves in. At that point, we'd have a pretty darned good 1-2-3, but a f***ed 4-5. That would spell trouble for the season IMO. All we really need is our 4-5 to pitch .500 ball. If they can do that, this Sox team should win in the mid-90's.

Hope Josh Stewart is the real deal. Guys.... Even if Wright misses the entire year (seemingly the worst-case-scenario at this point), and even if Stewart struggles, that does not mean that the season is over. In 2001, the Diamondbacks had pretty much RJ and CS, and 3 scrubs behind them, and they won the World Series. Now, MB and BC aren't as good as RJ and CS, but when you add Jon Garland, the Sox' top 3 are equal if not better than what Arizona had. Also, the Diamondbacks' offense was pretty good, but IMO the Sox in '03 will have a far superior offense than AZ had. So, basically, even if the worst happens, I still think we'll be contenders.

Like someone else already pointed out, it's really not a doable comparison to compare Lee and D'Angelo. They are 2 very different players with 2 very different roles. I think that the most important player for success in '03 is D'Angelo. He's our leadoff guy, and he (along with Jose) will have the task of getting on base for the cavalry behind him. Thomas, Magglio, and Paul are all capable of 110+ RBI, and the first 2 are capable IMO of 150 -- it's just a matter of having the runners on base for them. Lee has the potential of being a very good player (he's already above average IMO), but he's our #6 hitter. Our leadoff guy (Jimenez) having success is much more vital for this team. -
Nobody else is doing updates. Do I have to do everything around here? Top 8 (I think they said) Octavio Dotel in for the Astros - Miles singles to lead off the inning - Valentin walks on a full count - Konerko (.287 career hitter and rising ) loops one into left, it falls. Runners move up 90 feet, and they're loaded with 0 out - Rios (pinch-hitting for Magglio -- hehe, that won't happen much in the regular season, you can bet the farm on that) bounces into a 4-6-3. Run scores, but there are now 2 down. - Lee flies out 1 run, 2 hits, 1 walk, 1 left Astros lead it 6-3 Looks like the Sox are on their way to a loss, but anything can happen. I'm outta here for the night. Later.

No. Kent got the Sac Fly...Bagwell walked. Top 6 - Magglio pops out to Bagwell for the 1st out - Lee (.421 this Spring) looks at strike 3. 2 down - Crede frozen, strike 3. 5 k's on the day for Miller, all looking Through 5 1/2, Sox trail it 5-2. I've gotta get ready for work, so someone else is going to have to take my place.
-
Bottom 5 Konerko in at 1st for Frank - Miller with another basehit into LF - Biggio lines one into LF. 2 on, 0 out - Blum lines out to Rowand. Runners stay put. 2 on, now 1 out - Bagwell walks on a 3-1 pitch. Loaded for Berkman, 1 out - Berkman basehit to RF. 2 score. 4-2 Stros, runners on 1st and 3rd, 1 out - Kent hits Sac Fly, 5-2 now, 2 down - Hidalgo high fly ball caught by Rowand for out #3 3 runs, 3 hits, 1 walk, 1 left Garland so far -- 5 IP, 5 runs, 7 hits, 3 walks, 4 strikeouts Through 5, Sox now trail it 5-2

bulokis, I'm listening to the game through a feed at mlb.com. Just click on "audio" and look for today's games, and click the link (it's a Houston feed, and the announcers are kinda biased, but it's better than nothing). Top 5 - Garland grounds back to his counter-part for the 1st out - Jimenez walks on a 3-2 pitch - Valentin looks at one on the inside corner for out #2. Jimenez still at 1st - Thomas grounds to Lugo, Valentin forced at 2nd for the 3rd out 0 runs, 0 hits, 1 walk, 1 left Through 4 1/2, it's a 2-2 tie
-
Bottom 4, Tied at 2 - Hidalgo drives one to CF, but it's caught by Aaron for out #1 - Ausmus stares at one right down Broadway. 2 down. 4 k's for Jon - Lugo one hops one to D'Angelo. 1-2-3 Garland so far -- 4 IP, 2 ER, 4 hits, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts Through 4, 2-2 game
-
Top 4 - Lee leads off with a walk - Crede single moving Lee to 3rd - Rowand hits into a 6-4-3. Lee scores, but now are 2 out - Olivo grounds out to Kent for out #3 1 run, 1 hit, 1 walk, none left Through 3 1/2, Sox and Astros tied at 2

Good to be back. The god damned thing is finally working again. I don't know what I did differently, but for some reason it's deciding to function properly. Hopefully it will work from now on. Bottom 3 - Miller smashes one () past a diving Thomas for a lead-off single - Biggio basehit to left. 2 lead-off singles put runners on 1st and 2nd - Blum basehit to right. Ugh. Runners advance 90 ft, bases loaded, 0 out - Bagwell 6-3 DP. . Run scores. Biggio moves into 3rd. 2 out - Berkman walks on 4 pitches - Kent grounds one to Jimenez...nice play made...side retired 1 run, 3 hits, 1 walk, 2 left End 3, Sox now trail it 2-1 Garland so far -- 3 IP, 2 runs, 4 hits, 2 walks, 3 strikeouts
-
Top 3, Tied up at 1 Wade Miller is today's Houston pitcher - Valentin (1-1, run scored in the 1st) looks at strike 3 on a 3-2 pitch - Thomas grounds out to short for the 2nd out - Magglio flies out to CF to finish off a 1-2-3 inning Through 2 1/2, Sox and 'Stros tied 1-1
-
Bottom 2, Sox leading it early 1-0 Garland pitching for the Sox - Berkman walks on a 3-1 pitch - Kent up. Wild pitch advances Berkman to 2nd. Strike 3 called on a 3-2 pitch. That's 3 k's so far for Jon - Hidalgo pop fouls one to Thomas for out #2 - Ausmus hits gapper to left center for an RBI-double. Game tied at 1 - Lugo pops one to shallow RF. Caught by Magglio for out #3 1 run, 1 hit, 1 walk, 1 left. End 2, 1-1 tie

Chisoxfn, please refrain from posting xxx material.

If I'm not mistaking, the 6 managers ranked below JM are all making their managerial debuts in 2003. That's pretty bad.

This is the stupidest "debate" I've seen to-date on this board. The discussion about tattoos, piercings, and nicotine addiction is IMO much more relevant. It's at least entertaining. This is pointless.

Great retort. Did you even read the whole post or just picked up on the "doctors" part? Do you even know who Barcelo is/was? Did you read my whole post, or did you just pick up on the "Are you high?" part? And yes, I know who Barcelo was. He was a pitcher, like so many before him in the sport, who could have been something special, but got injured. I've spoken my side of this debate, and neither one of us is going to change their opinion, so I'm through for now. I've gotta go to work anyway. I'd be interested to hear what Chisoxfn has to say about this, since his opinion seems to be the only one I value around here lately.

Are you high dude? A doctor says that a guy's fastball is going to reach 100 MPH someday, so then if it doesn't happen, someone f***ed up? Doctors everyday give horrible and incorrect information to their patients, so to use a doctor's "promise" of what will happen in the future as evidence in this debate is preposterous.
