  1. I have not played pro ball. However, that has nothing to do with my argument. If a person takes bad advice just because the person giving it is in a position of authority, that's tough s*** for the person taking it. And of course prospects need guidance. If Nardi is as bad as you're saying he was, perhaps these pitchers should have done their homework on the guy's past before taking his word as the gospel. Again, they failed to take responsibility for their own lives, and chose to waste away their talent. Sad but true.
  2. Comparing 10 and 11 year olds playing in a league after school to grown men with families to support is completely ridiculous, and kills any credibility you may have had in this discussion. As adults, major league players have a decision to make -- take the advice of their coaches, or do it their way. Whatever decision they make, they have to live with the consequences.
  3. Nardi I am not. The voice of reason is who this is. If you wish to dismiss the aspect of the players' responsibility in those cases you stated, you are entitled to do so. I, however, feel that you are very wrong in doing so.
  4. Thanks for missing the point...It's not the question of "panning out"; it's a question of guys' arms and/or mechanics getting f***ed up at an incredible rate under Nardi and Co.' watch. Kip Wells and Burhle have been exceptions, but the former hated Nardi and struggled with trhe Sox (fastball at 90-92 versus 93-96 with Pirates among other things), and the latter...well, re-read my edited post. We had best arms in the majors 2-3 years ago. Now I have to watch Cubs trot out Woods, Clement, Zambrano, Prior and Cruz, knowing that Rauch, Beurhle, Wells, Malone and Barcelo would have been just as good if not better had Nardi not...you get the idea... I've been very optimistic about this team since 2000 and tihnk we will win 99 games in 2003, but this s***ty trend has GOT to stop. If a pitcher allows a coach to change his mechanics in a way that either injures his arm or cuts 5 MPH off of his fastball, I don't blame the coach. I blame the player. Players need to take responsibility for their own actions, and as fans, we have to accept whatever happens as a result. If they choose to take bad advice, that's their own tough luck. If they want to waste their talent and throw away a potentially successful career, more power to them.
  5. True, nobody knows what will happen. If anyone did, that would defeat the purpose of it all. However, I would like to hear his reasons for saying that, and unfortunately, he just threw out a broad comment about the Sox thinking they're better than they really are, and didn't expound upon it at all. Kinda odd.
  6. AL Central: Minnesota, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City, Cleveland, Detroit. The White Sox aren't nearly as close to the Twins as some of them think they are. And as for third, fourth and fifth place in this division, it'll be like watching a group of kindergartners attempting to run in a straight line. I wish he'd explain why he feels this way. Anyway, I completely disagree with him.
  7. Including yesterday, I work 12 out of the next 13 days. My only off-day is Monday. I wouldn't have it any other way. b****es
  8. Looks like we play tomorrow vs. Arizona, then travel to Houston for 2 games, then to Birmingham, Alabama for a game, and then Monday it's to KC for the season opener!
  9. Here's the box score for today's 10-1 win over Colorado http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gam...ameId=230326104 Frank continues his torrid hitting (.432 now), Lee with a huge game, Crede with 4 hits, Paulie adds 3 hits, D'Angelo and Rowand chip in 2. Also nice pitching by Stewart.
  10. Yes, we're hopless. But, luckily, Easter is right around the corner, so the Easter Bunny will bring us some hops.
  11. I thought I knew what I wanted the Sox to do, but now I'm not certain. Stewart is pitching VERY well right now, and Danny is not ready. He might be throwing well for 2 innings, but there's a HUGE difference between throwing 2 innings and 30 pitches and throwing 5 innings and 75 pitches. I've changed my mind -- I want the Sox to go with Stewart to open the season, and let Danny work for 3 or 4 starts in AAA so he can stretch himself out and be CERTAIN that his elbow is ready for major league hitting. But, we'll see what happens.
  12. Frank's the f***ing man. Look for a huge season from him. in '03 motherf***ers
  13. I'm watchin the 3 pm pst editon of SportsCenter, and there's going to be a segment later on about Frank and how he's looking to regain his old form in '03. Just an FYI for anyone interested.
  14. And Frank is hitting over .400. Hmmm..Frank produces, and the offense scores a lot in the 1st inning....I wonder if there's a correlation?
  15. Don't underestimate the value of a veteran on a young staff. In 2000 we had Cal Eldred, and he played fairly well (understatement). As long as Esteban has an ERA of 4.0 or lower, he'll be in the rotation IMO.
  16. 2 HR's for Carlos? Let's trade him.
  17. Loaiza's a righty He's saying we should have Stewart in the #4 slot, and he's completely ignoring Loaiza. Not sure why.
  18. LOL - that will just make each victory that much sweeter.
  19. I sure hope the Sox are playing beyond 9/28. Otherwise, we all looked forward to this season for nothing. And last season, he had the same kind of situation, and he won 19 games, so I'm not worried about him either.
  20. did he make the team has the 5th starter??? All reports are that Danny is starting April 6 against Detroit. So unless Danny has a setback, it appears Stewart will start the season in AAA.
  21. The youth card he played on me? If our profile are somewhat accurate he has me by a year an a half. I can't wait to be so enlightened next year. If you think maturity has anything to do with age, you have a lot to learn...sonny.
  22. You're right...someone who is old cannot be immature. What was I thinking? He's 20+ years older than me? That makes him at least 42. How old are you?
  23. I guess there's no radio for today's game, but I'm following the score at CBSsportsline, and it's the top of the 5th and the Sox lead it 5-1. They got 3 in the 1st, and I think 1 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th. I'm pretty sure it's Josh Stewart pitching.
  24. While I don't disagree with this (except that it's not fact and simply a statement used to make a point).. there are also a lot of skanks and whores that don't have tattoos. Use some common sense when you post would ya..? Please don't point out the obvious. "There are sluts that don't have tattoos", "There are girls with tattoos that aren't sluts" -- it's really a waste of time to point out the fact that there are exceptions to every rule. Then perhaps you should site those exceptions and not generalize. LOL. Apparently you cannot read. From the beginning, I have NEVER used the words "all" or "everyone", so by default I'm leaving room for the exception. If you are not able to see that, that is not my problem. And, once again, I'm going to BOW OUT of this stupid debate. Those with tattoos are obviously biased and take everything personally, so there's no point in continuing.
  25. Heh, your defensiveness resembles that of HSC's. Why get so bothered by it if it's not true? Tattoo and a belly ring...I'm beginning to get the picture. Still not enough evidence to be certain, though.
