What Milwaukee does vs. the Twins is irrelevant. What matters is what the White Sox do against the Twins. If we take care of our own business when it needs to be taken care of, we'll be just fine.

How long does it take for a player to be called up from AAA to the majors? A matter of what, 6-8 hours? So I don't know why Graffanino would have to catch at all (unless both catchers got hurt at the same time). If either Miguel or Sandy got hurt mid-game, Paul would be immediately called up, and since he will have been playing everyday at AAA, he will be more than ready to step in and back-up for as long as necessary.

It's nice to be making progress in our search for these camel-loving killers. If the reports are true (and they appear to be), bin Laden himself could be next to fall. It would be excellent to see bin Laden and Saddam go down in a matter of weeks. Here's to hopin'.

Your comparison of Bush to the Nazis is so f***ing absurd that it's sad. You have obviously taken some wrong turns in your life, and your thinking is so warped that you are probably beyond the point of being helped. Makes me wonder how you have enough common sense to be Sox fan. And oh, maybe he mentions 9/11 so much because most Americans are so self-centric that they have forgotten what happened to us on that fateful morning. What happened was the worst attack on this country...ever. An attack that was completely and utterly unprovoked and resulted in the death of thousands of fathers, mothers, sons, daughers, husbands and wives. People from all corners of the world, of all different religions. And yes, Saddam had NOTHING to do with 9/11 -- we know this...because Saddam says so? If you are willing to trust a maniac dictator who is a murderer 10's of thousands of times over, be my f***ing guest.

That is exactly the way I feel about Carlos Lee. I think he is going to be a tremendous hitter. If Carlos continues to be patient and draw walks, I can see him developing into a lesser form of Frank Thomas. I think Carlos has .300, 35, 110 potential, and him hitting behind the likes of Thomas, Ordonez, and Konerko is only going to make him better (pitchers have to pitch to somebody). I don't understand why everyone would be so willing to trade him for some scrub. Trading him now would be a huge mistake. Maybe if he falters in 2003 -- but not before then.

They offered Griffey for Mags because they were hoping KW was high and would say yes. Also, Mags is making around half of what Junior is making. Not to mention the fact that over the past 2 or 3 years, Mags' numbers have dwarfed Griffey's. And yes, if the Sox would have said "Yes", they would have cleared a few million and could have probably acquired BOTH Rogers and Finley. So they'd be getting Mags, Rogers, and Finley for an aging and seemingly unmotivated Ken Griffey Jr. In other words, it would have been the most brilliant trade in MLB history. That said...I hope the Sox don't trade anybody at this time. I want to see what this team can do when they have their heads on straight. I think 2003 is the year that will happen (unlike '01 and '02).

I think you forgot all about Greg Norton. Shame on you. "Nawton, you're the greatest!"

If anything is more stupid and distracting than a "closer-by-committee" situation, it would have to be a "catcher-by-committee" situation. Watching the Sox flip-flop closers last season was bad enough. Watching them flip-flop catchers in 2003 would make me vomit. Also, do you think Garland, Wright, and possibly Rauch or Stewart want to throw to PK or Graffy? The only thing they want to throw to those guys are DP attempts -- not pitches. Young guys need constancy, and playing musical catchers would be a horrible idea. Stick with Olivo and Sandy, and ship Paul down to AAA. Plain and simple.

Well, aside from the fact that you replied to a partial quote, you're still wrong. You cannot tell me that if an ump feels like he made a mistake earlier in the game that he will not subconsciously make up for it later in the game if the opportunity presents itself. If you disagree, that's fine - but I feel you would be wrong to do so. Assuming they aren't already biased, as I already said before, they will call it right down the middle as best they can. But if there are a few toughies, they're basically going to even out.

A double in the 2nd inning of the 8th ST game is "getting back at us"? Wow, guess I have some learning to do about the sport and the relevance of things. I thought baseball was all about what you're doing in October. Come to find out, all that matters is what you do in March. Thanks for setting me straight, though -- I do appreciate it.

Yeah, I guess they really want to rest Damaso....my guess is he'll start to get some work in next week... I think Sportsline is probably the best, generally speaking, for updates....i find it better than cnnsi, foxsports, or espn....they seem to be the quickest... Yes, CBS is def. the best IMO. 4-2 still, Top 7

Great point with Schilling -- ST means nothing once the regular season begins. Although, you could argue that a veteran like Schilling is better able to handle a poor spring than a youngster like some of the guys the Sox have. I think they'll be just fine, though. And I read a quote by Wright after his first outing that he was pleased with how he threw. He said about 35 of the 40 pitches he threw felt good, but the bad few were hit hard. I have no problems with that at all. That's why they give the players a month of ST -- to work out the kinks and to prepare for the games that count. I would almost rather have us keep Harris up than Aaron (assuming Borchard makes the roster, which is still pretty unlikely unless he continues to improve). Harris has more versatility than Aaron does (Willie can play 2B, probably SS, and CF), while Aaron is pretty much a CF or LF. And there's no doubt that Harris brings more speed to the plate than Aaron does. We'll have to see how Aaron's injuries heal (he's got some rotten luck so far this spring). And yes, KW knows what he's doing. Too bad most fans have written him off long ago.

Well, the last time Buehrle pitched, so did Colon -- so maybe today will be the same situation. Also, Koch hasn't pitched in a couple days (since his save I think), nor has Damaso (he hasn't pitched hardly any, if at all by what I've seen in and can remember from the box scores). And yeah, all we have are updates, and they take FOREVER to update you on what's going on. I'm at CBSsportsline, and they're taking like 20 minutes to update it, since it seems they only do it after each full inning. That's ST for ya.
-
Well, since he's breaking the height barrier for pitchers, we'll have to wait and see how a 6'11 guy can fare in the majors. Hopefully for the Sox (and us) he will pass with flying colors.
-
Fair enough. Hey, we're all Sox fans, so we're supporting the same cause. in '03
-
Dunno how many people are curious about today's game since apparently it's not on radio anywhere, but it's the top of the 5th and it's tied up at 2. I think Buehrle was supposed to be starting today, so I can only assume he did alright. Although, it's MB, so what else would we expect?
-
Nah, you're actually wrong for once (was that sarcastic enough for ya?). And what does Taco Bell and baseball have to do with violence against little girls anyway? Someone's stretching things a bit too far. And I will take your verbal attacks as a sign of an inner weakness, and I will not hold it against you. You simply cannot help yourself, and I understand completely.
-
There's a time for sarcasm (in my case, most of the time in fact), and there's a time for the truth. I felt a need for the latter in this instance.
-
Not obvious.... Something that certainly is obvious is your inability to distinguish a joke from a serious statement. Guess $350k can't buy common sense, now can it?
-
Well, that would be a pretty good rotation actually. Certainly not comparable to the Braves of the early 90's IMO, but definitely among the best in baseball (as long as Siro was healthy and Wood was fully recovered). Tell your friend to deal with reality and stop thinking about what might have been. And also point out to him that if Sirotka was healthy, the Cubs would never have acquired him. The Cubs only have him because the elite teams (the ones with money) don't want him.
-
Well, that's what I was thinking earlier until I realized that we probably lost a lot of money (since I'm sure David's contract was a lot more than Sirotka's), and we didn't get much for it. But, 2001 was a complete waste, so it's not that big of a deal.
-
WTF? That is unacceptable. I'd never let my girl take me away from baseball. She can work at Taco Bell for min wage before that happens .
-
Fox offered him an outrageous amount of money (I think it was $1M) to jump ship. Let's be honest -- $1M to read a telepromter and watch sports all day? He'd be a FOOL to not take it. Afterall, his family has to eat.
