  1. No they won't. Baseball already has lost some credibility by having one of their premier players getting caught cheating. They aren't going to risk losing more credibility by simply giving him a slap on the wrist. I figure it'll be 10 games at least.
  2. Of course. Us rational people of Soxtalk know that, and so do most human beings. But, there will ALWAYS be biggots who will discriminate and play the race card. Sad but true.
  3. Haha, hadn't thought of that! One more thing that baffles me about this whole thing...I was talking to my mom this morning, and she told me that Baker claims that he's NEVER seen a corked bat in his career (that is like 30 years worth of baseball). That, in itself is laughable. But, then, Sammy said that he uses a corked bat during BP (presumably more than just 1 time, right?). You mean to tell me that Sammy uses a corked bat on a regular basis to "poot on a shoe for dee fans", yet Dusty has no knowledge of it? Sammy and Dusty should have had a little meeting before speaking to the media so they could get their stories straight.
  4. LOL. Hawk just said "We understand Sammy had a little trouble today", and they both started cracking up, LOL. Then Hawk had DJ explain, and DJ said "there were some wine tops in his bat". LMAO, too funny.
  5. I just figured that, barring an unlikely rainout in AZ, the Sox will have Buehrle, Colon, and Loaiza starting against the Dodgers this coming Friday through Sunday. Don't know who the Dodgers will be pitching.
  6. He had the nice hitting streak of around 15 games, but over the 3-game series with Cleveland, he went 0 for 14. That is simply and utterly unacceptable. When it rains, it pours.
  7. I've heard enough rumors about Sox management to know better than to get my hopes up and count on this one coming true. We'll all just have to wait and find out together I s'pose.
  8. He said they were BUILT for pounding...he didn't say they were succeeding.
  9. "Get the rest from wherever"? You have to have a plan Michelle, and while I agree that the Sox don't appear to have one at this time, getting rid of all but 4 or 5 players isn't a viable solution. Rome wasn't built in a day, and the Sox aren't going to solve all of their problems overnight -- and they CERTAINLY won't accomplish anyone by getting rid of 80% of the roster. BTW, you'd want the Sox to get rid of Crede? I disagree with that very much.
  10. i cant wait till you get old....... it will come back 10 fold on your wrinkled up ass.......... Nah, I'm 22 but I look a lot younger. I'll age just fine. In about 10 years, you'll look like Yzma from the Emperor's New Groove, LOL.
  11. Maybe some fine-tuning wouldn't work, you could be right. But, I think that this season is young enough that we could make a few moderately big trades in the next couple of weeks, and try things out for a month or so and see how they respond. Maybe if they know they could be the next one to be out, they'd play better. If they turn it around, the AL Central is bad enough that we'd still VERY much be in the race. If they continue to stink it up, you can THEN make more trades, and the "complete overhaul" would be done. Trade Konerko, Koch, Glover, and release Rick White (or try to trade him, but I doubt there would be any takers). Try to get a good prospect or 2, and then call up a couple of guys from the minors (Ring, Almonte, etc) and see how they play for a month or so. If they don't turn it around, then you unload Colon, Gordon, and possibly Frank and/or Lee. Possibly even Buehrle since he's due for arbitration (although, since he's having such a bad year so far, I don't know how much he'll command in arbitration). Sad times for Chicago White Sox baseball.
  12. No. Some of us aren't ancient.
  13. Sometimes you'll get a guy that pans out. But, more often, you get a guy that helps your franchise NONE, and you end up losing some good money (on the contract and the signing bonus, which is often hefty). I'd rather just win and get a bad pick.
  14. If Paulie was under the scrutiny that Frank is/was/will be under, I doubt he would act the same way he is acting. There's virtually no pressure on Paulie, because there are 3 or 4 guys that are more popular on the team than he is (Frank, Magglio, Colon, and arguably Koch and Buehrle). Konerko is, for the most part, playing AWFUL and it's going pretty much unnoticed from the rest of the baseball world.
  15. I heard an interested (yet brutally simple) reason why JM hasn't been fired yet. KW KNOWS that once JM is fired, he won't be far behind, so KW is either (1) lobbying JR to keep JM on-board (assuming the decision is JR's to make) or (2) holding off on firing him to save his own ass (assuming the decision is KW's to make). Either way, it looks like JM may not be going anywhere anytime soon, although he needs to.
  16. NEVER has Frank had a slump like the one Paulie is in. As has been pointed out, he's been SO bad for SO long that it's not even a slump anymore. Slumps last a couple of weeks -- not a couple of months. This proves that you know little about what's best for the White Sox. Paulie's BEST OBP he's ever had was .363 (2000), and his best SLG he's ever had was .511 (1999). This season, Frank is having what most on here will regard an "OK" at best year. His OBP and SLG are .405 and .491, respectively. So basically, Frank at a diminished level of performance is STILL as good (I argue better) than PK is. And PK is making more than Frank is. And not that PK is to blame for it AT ALL, but he's got the hip issue -- that doesn't bode well for his future. You tell me who the Sox would be better off with.
  17. I realize what post I'm referring to. And I also am able to decipher "cw" from "CW". Are you?
  18. You are cw, not CW. I am not referring to any post of yours.
  19. By the way...I don't know if anyone caught this or cares, but today's 2nd base umpire was the home plate umpire on Friday night. :fyou him
  20. I know what you're talking about. CW made a comment, which I replied to. Then, he went back and changed his comment to green, so I had to change my reply accordingly. That was easy enough to explain.
  21. You can't blame Graffy for that HORRID call by the umpire on the play at 2nd, but your point is well made.
  22. Wha? The only thing I ever do is edit for spelling or to add a couple of words to make a sentence make more sense. I don't change the main jist of the post, though. Shouldn't be hard to read/follow at all. Brando, on the other hand...
