  1. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) Only the posters here would have predicted the kind of seasons that Dunn, Rios, and Peavy had. What Kenny has done every year, with the players available, is build a team capable of winning the division. I am amazed how many people think they could have predicted the collapse of three key players. Hey, a straw man from Tex. You don't see that too often.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 11:20 AM) I think it's more another piece of supporting evidence in Cooper's favor rather than the sole reason for the disparity in their reputations around the league. Exactly, and as I said, it's a form of proof that was specifically requested by another poster. It's rather simple.
  3. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 10:59 AM) I've heard and used it, in college papers, but it seems more like a term that only English majors use. It does add a nice air of superiority around here, don't you think? Definitely. I like to throw the random big word out there on occasion.
  4. I'm sure they find a little solace in their bank accounts. But yes, rebuilding is becoming necessary and I'm glad that people are finally starting to get on board with it. And what makes you think they'll be picked for 4th instead of 5th?
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 03:49 PM) I ignored you until people quoted you so much that I had to deal with your baffling stupidity and doggerel. Put me in my place? Au contraire fool, if you had put me in my place, then you wouldn't have taken a few days to even acknowledge me pointing out your flawed, idiotic arguments. A kid? I may be younger than you, but I can at least spell. So do us all a favor and promptly shut the f*** up. You're an arrogant bastard that believes that since you played baseball in high school (which, you know, probably everyone on this board did) you're qualified as a goddamn baseball genius that should have the next Moneyball be made after him. And I'm pretty sure you're the sadomasochistic creep here considering you just invited us to blast you again considering you can't f***ing spell. I can honestly say I had never seen or heard that word ever before in my entire life. Congratulations on both the post and the use of that word.
  6. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 10:34 AM) Then that is also proof that people around baseball value Ozzie. Which really means jack s***. You're diluting the argument for the sake of being heard. Ozzie has nothing to do with this.
  7. QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 12:52 AM) You said it better than I did. Kudos. Thanks
  8. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) Exactly, so why does anyone care how much the Yankees value him? I still find it funny that the club must value a guy more when they turn down nothing in return than when they turn down players in return. Because Dick Allen asked for proof of people around baseball talking up Cooper. The Yankees attempting to acquire him is proof of that.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) Why are people fighting this? It is absolutely crystal clear that the professional baseball industry views Don Cooper as one of the best pitching coaches in the game. This is stated constantly by national broadcasters, opposing team's broadcasters, writers, commentators, etc. This is further evidenced by a long list of success stories with pitchers who had experienced little or none previously in their major league careers. This is further evidenced by the number of quality starts made in Cooper's tenure here. This is further evidenced by an excellent record of health by our SPs during Cooper's tenure here. Is his record spotless? No. Has he had some pitchers fail under his tutelage? Yes. His body of work in a White Sox uniform is glaringly better than not only Greg Walker, but better than probably any coach in White Sox history, other than perhaps Walt Hriniak. Twist the facts around as much as you want; play devil's advocate as much as you want. But this isn't that difficult. Don Cooper has been one of the biggest reasons why this Club has experienced the success that it has, and it really isn't something that is up for debate. Thank you!
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) I asked 1000 random Chinese people over the weekend in Shanghai and they all preferred Don Cooper to Greg Walker. They also said they would like to buy Ozzie a Tsingtao beer if he ever made it over here. And that they didn't understand that they played baseball in South Florida, they thought it was only beaches and LeBron/DWade show. And Greg Walker is my second cousin and I still want him gone.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 05:01 PM) What really are you getting out of him? He's 4th or 5th starter material, like Bruce Chen. Occassionally they will throw decently for a season. You are absolutely postive the only reason Humber is having any success is Don Cooper. What has Cooper done to make him better? Name me the most prominent baseball person who has said anything negative about the job Walker does? Walker yelled at Kenny so you don't like him. It wasn't long ago you used to have smart ass comments for anyone that said anything negative about Ozzie, but Kenny doesn't like Ozzie anymore, so neither do you. Walker is far better than most give him credit. That is the bottom line. You can say he sucks all you want, but Konerko, Thome, AJP, Dye, CLee, Magglio, Crede, Iguchi, Everett, Ramirez, Rowand show otherwise, and we are still waiting for a bust with the Sox to become a star some place else, because face it, there has to be a Don Cooper of hitting out there somewhere, and if you read this board regularly you will know once Walker leaves, so does any problem with the offense. Never mind your insistence on this when nobody said it. You obviously won't drop it. The thing I really want to know is whether you actually know Walker in real life. Do you? You've never answered that.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) Just a comparison-- xbh- Braun 73 Kemp 72 RBIs- Braun 107 Kemp 119 Runs- Braun 105 Kemp 110 OPS- Braun .979 Kemp .987 I just don't think Braun is far enough off from Kemp to keep him from the MVP, playing in more stressful games for a playoff team. So, all of his stats besides one extra base hit show that Kemp has been the superior player, who is on the cusp of accomplishing something that hasn't been done in most of our lifetimes. But Braun's team is in the playoffs and that's it. Braun wins?
  13. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) Honestly Williams should have been let go after Wilder, his friend he gave a job to, was indicted. And Ozzie should have been let go after his homophobic slurs, letting his kid release clubhouse secrets, or calling the fans idiots multiple times. They both suck.
  14. Can them both. Include all of the coaches. I don't care if they get rid of Cooper either. Gut them.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 12:03 PM) My stance on the MVP is if a player is far and away the best offensive player, I would vote for him for MVP no matter what the team did. In the case of Braun, he not only is a money player for a playoff team, he's not far off enough from Kemp to keep him from being the MVP....regardless if Kemp finishes first in all of those three categories. It hasn't been done in 44 years. If he does it, he gets the MVP.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 09:49 AM) I don't know why, but this pair of drunk posts cracked me up. Well done, sir. Thanks I still think it's funny in the morning, and that's the best way to judge a drunk post.
  17. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) There are so many reasons why this post is funny, but my favorite is that you managed to misspell or misuse 3 words in a 7 word sentence stating that someone else was misinformed. Ahaha, fantastic.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 02:39 AM) LOLOLOLOLOLOL THE HUMOR OF THIS GUY. I'D BUY HIM A DRINK IF HE WALKED INTO THE SAME RESTAURANT I WAS FREQUENTING. This guy is an imbecile! And anyone who agrees with him is probably one too.
  19. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) JR will have to extend Ozzie so that he can keep selling those "Ozzie Plan" season ticket packages. Ha! Who was that guy again?
  20. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 04:55 PM) RaferWeigel Rafer Weigel Just asked #WhiteSox Ozzie Guillen if he would give him an extension, "no. But I have to ask. You think a pretty girl is 2 good u still try" 15 minutes ago LOLOLOLOLOLOL THE HUMOR OF THIS GUY. I'D BUY HIM A DRINK IF HE WALKED INTO THE SAME RESTAURANT I WAS FREQUENTING.
  21. Again, using De Aza to defend Walker is a joke. And no one's laughing. Or everyone is. It's a terrible argument, is my point.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) If I didn't know better, I'd think KW is inferring that Ozzie is long gone after next week. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/break...0,2605712.story He can only imply. We infer.
  23. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 10:06 PM) Why is Kenny going there? Hey, you read that thread where Quinarvy molested you yet? Or just ignoring it?
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 12:41 PM) There are plenty of guys who are in the HOF without the gawdy stats, but because of their contributions in other ways. A guy like Ozzie Smith comes to mind right away. Exactly what the other two said. And as I mentioned, I'm sure there are a few exceptions.
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 23, 2011 -> 12:06 PM) No s***. I had no idea either. 6 games left, say 24 ABs. If he went 10/24, he would be exactly at .330. Guess it's more doable that I thought
